glossary

seidr - witchcraft, magic. Believed to be a divine essence that fuels a vampire's life force.

seidmadr | seidkona [pl. seidmenn | seidkonur] - practitioners of witchcraft, male and female respectively. Only those who display a natural affinity for seidr may become seidmadr or seidkona.

seiddreng [pl. seiddroengiar] - war-mage.

draugr [pl. draugar] - the regional term in Vidarheim for 'vampire.'

the drott - the nobility. Warlords and leaders of draugr society.

jarl - a chieftain to the draugr people. The equivalent of a Duke.

thegn [pl. thegnar] - a Lord of the draugr people. Considered named nobility and a servant of the Jarl.

aptrganga [pl. aptrgangr] - lit. "again-walker." One of the turned. Ghouls infected with vampirism but not fully changed.

vordr [pl. vardir] - lit. "warden." A master of a vampire's soul, responsible for their change and well-being. Vampires are beholden to their master and cannot act against them.
