Chapter Twenty

Ollie

D reams are strange things.

They can turn your far-fetched desires into a momentary reality but they can also leave you with an ache so deep that it never goes away.

I’d lived with that ache for the past decade, ever since my designation had ripped me away from what I’d wanted the most.

One day, I was living with my brothers and best friend, the woman I’d always secretly been in love with, and the next I was being carted off to an omega clinic in the city. It turns out I’m one of the sensitive ones, something that my brothers razzed me about until they saw the toll it took on me.

Unable to take suppressants, blockers, and prone to more painful heats, I’d ridden them out in the clinic with alpha volunteers I’d rather forget. My first heat I had to stay a month so that the doctors could help regulate my system and ease the pain.

I never expected a different kind of pain when I’d arrived home, finding out that Lindsay had drawn a line between all of us and moved out on her own. Insisting that she didn’t want to lose us as friends and that it was for the best.

Things had been stilted for a while but we made them work. I lived for the moments we were together.

And then dad had passed and left the four of us the business. In a way, he brought us closer together again, the four of us wading through grief and taking over the reins.

We built back better.

Stronger.

And now, my dreams were becoming a reality.

Actually, they were more than that now. The alpha in front of me a sweet surprise I hadn’t seen coming.

“I should be offended that you seem lost in thought, sweets,” Spencer said. “But you smell and look so damn happy.”

“Oh god, I’m ruining our first date,” I moaned, focusing back on the alpha in front of me.

“Two things. One, this might be our first date out on the town, but it definitely won’t be the last. And two, nothing, and I mean nothing, could ever ruin what the two of us have.”

Spencer wrapped an arm around me and slid me closer to him in the booth, the possessive outward display making me feel all kinds of happy.

“Did you ever think you’d be here, though?” I questioned him. “I’m so happy it feels kind of surreal.”

“Did I ever think I’d be here with one of the sweetest, most kind men I’ve ever met? And that I would have the privilege to call him mine?” Spencer questioned, smiling down at me. “No, sweets. But I did hope.”

“I never thought I would feel this…gushy,” I confessed, reaching up and running a hand through my hair.

Yes, I was an omega, and yes I enjoyed my creature comforts, but I’d never been so damn swoony before.

“Don’t beat yourself up,” Spencer said, placing a kiss on my head. “I’m pretty spectacular.”

A laugh spilled from my lips. “Modest too.”

“No need to be modest when it’s the truth,” he said. “Pretty sure you said something similar to me during your heat.”

“You’re incorrigible,” I said, elbowing him in the side.

Just thinking about the heat had me all hot and bothered. Thinking about the way he and Lindsay had taken care of me. The two of them together made my dreams look tame in comparison.

“I’m yours,” he murmured. “As long as you want me.”

“I know this all has happened kind of fast,” I said. “But I don’t regret a second of it. We needed you, Spencer. I need you. And I’m so damn glad that you came along.”

To think that Spencer’s job had brought him here and into our lives was one of the best serendipitous things around. Only, what happened after the winter festival?

“What happens next?” I asked him.

“Well, after dessert, I thought you could show me more of the town you love so much,” Spencer said. “Then, I’m going to take you home and kiss you goodnight.”

“Just a kiss?” I questioned, letting him sidetrack me.

“Well, you can’t just expect me to put out on the first date,” Spencer said sassily. “What kind of alpha do you take me for?”

“One that’s fed me his knot and made me see stars before,” I said. “One who has been sleeping with me in my bed for the past week.”

My omega was feeling all kinds of possessive over him right now and I didn’t want to think about him being anywhere else except with me.

“It’s nice to know you want me,” Spencer said looking pleased. “I just want to make sure you’re getting everything you need and deserve, sweets. There’s still so much we have to learn about one another.”

“Well then, you should know that I want you to stay,” I told him, unwilling to beat around the bush. “Here, in Holiday Hollow.”

“I did get that message when you showed me my new personal room in our pack house,” he said without a hint of teasing this time. “I’m honored that you want me as much as I want you, mate. Scent matches are a blessing, but they’re still a choice. And, the fact that you chose me is more than enough to keep me in Holiday Hollow.”

“Good,” I said, relief hitting me.

“Of course, if you didn’t want me, I’d probably stalk you and Lindsay until I made you both see exactly why we’re meant for one another. It’s a good thing I can work from anywhere. I may have to take a trip here or there on occasion, but thankfully, I can do most of it virtually. Janet was just very insistent that we do this meeting in person.”

I hummed. “I think it’s time we show you more of our town then. Wouldn’t want you to get all stalkery.”

Spencer pulled out a few bills and put them on the table and grabbed my hand, helping me out of the booth. As soon as we were outside he pulled me close, his beard and lips tickling my neck.

“I think you like me stalkery, Ollie. I think you want me so obsessed with you that I can’t help myself. I think you want to send me into a rut with your sweet, little scent. I think you want me to lock you with my knot and give you my bite.”

His balsam and tonka scent surrounded me, soaking into my bones as he tightened the scarf around my neck.

“Spence…” I groaned.

“My very own nickname,” he said happily, pressing a kiss to my lips and taking a step back. “I think I’ll even let you use it when I claim you.”

He threaded his arm through mine and started guiding me along Main Street. The streets were still dusted in the finest powder, the bright lights of the season casting warm glows on the sidewalk.

As much as I would have loved continuing the teasing, I loved sharing the moment with him more. The fact that he was talking about claiming me filled me with an intense amount of joy and I knew in my heart that I wanted to share that moment with Lindsay too.

Even the hazy memories that I had of the two of them during my heat, was better than my imagination.

“Be good,” Spencer warned. “You smell entirely too good right now and I’m trying to be a gentleman.”

“You don’t need to be anything other than what you are,” I told him seriously, leaning my head against his arm as we continued our stroll. “I like you just the way you are.”

A purr tore through his chest. “That means a lot, sweets. It’s a boon I’ll cherish.”

I let out a contented sigh as we made our way down Main Street. Spencer laughed at the Holiday Hollow insanity that was unfolding before the festival and I was relieved that he didn’t sound judgmental, just amused.

He was going to fit in perfectly around here.

“You know, we have plenty of space downstairs still, we could convert one of the rooms into an office for your work if you need one,” I said as I mulled it over. “Or convert mine into a shared space. I’m not really the sit in the office and work type.”

“That doesn’t surprise me in the least,” he laughed. “No worries. I’ll have to head back to my place and pack up my apartment. I’ve been on a month to month lease for years, so it won’t be a big deal to cut ties.”

“It’s like you were waiting for us,” I teased.

“Oh, I was,” he promised. Spencer reached into his pocket and pulled out a small gift box. “I know you didn’t want to go crazy with courting but I refuse to let this moment go by and not make it known to the world that I’m claiming you.”

My heart slammed in my chest and a heat spread through me that had nothing to do with how turned on he made me.

It was all him. This caring, sweet, strong, and charming alpha had chosen me and was making sure I felt special every chance he got.

Even better. He loved my beta as much as he loved me.

I carefully peeled off the bow and stuck it to his coat before ripping off the wrapping and tossing it in the trash can nearby. I didn’t need gifts, I just needed him, but still I couldn’t help but feel so pleased by his actions.

The box was nice and from a jewelry store I didn’t recognize, which meant he’d put time and effort into getting it for me. Tears burned at my eyes and I felt like a big baby until he kissed my temple and swiped at the lone tear that escaped.

“You going to open it?”

“Yes,” I said in a reverent whisper, pulling it open to see the gorgeous watch inside. The leather band was soft and the bronze and glass faceplate shined in the sparkling lights we were standing under.

With careful hands I pulled it from the box and turned it, seeing a word imprinted in the underside of the leather.

Mine.

The wind caught and I froze, giving him a wide-eyed stare as I brought the watch to my nose. It was so strong of his scent that I knew it was no coincidence.

“It’s infused with my scent so no matter where you go, I’m always with you,” he said in a soft voice, his fingers trailing over my jaw.

He took my wrist and rubbed it along his cheek before wrapping the watch around me and fastening it. I stared down at the gift in awe. I’d never been given anything quite so meaningful and sweet.

“Spencer?”

“Yeah,” he asked, still standing inches away.

“Take me home. I need you,” I begged. A wide grin spread across his face and he pulled me down the street.

We were home within ten minutes and we kept it together until he closed the door of my room behind him. He shed his jacket and set his gaze on me.

“Undress. I want to watch.”

I swallowed hard as I stared at the hungry look he was giving me. He leaned back against the dresser and crossed his ankles, watching and waiting for me to give him the show he was anticipating.

Stepping away, I took my time, shrugging out of my coat first, before tossing it aside. My fingers wanted to fumble but I took a breath and forced myself to focus. One button after the other was freed before my shirt fell open showing him my lean, but soft stomach.

He eyed me like I was a treasure.

Each new article of clothing that I dropped aside he watched as he licked his lips and palmed the rising bulge in his pants.

When I was down to my boxers I turned around and slid them down, sticking my ass out for him.

The scent of my alpha and his own pheromones mixed with mine, filling the room with an intoxicating scent that had me panting as I stood wearing nothing but the watch he’d given me.

He was on me before I could fully straighten, his fingers finding my hips and digging in, pulling me against him and nipping at my neck.

“So fucking perfect,” he groaned as he turned me around and sat me on the edge of the bed.

I guess it was my turn to watch.

The moment his fingers went to pull his shirt off I knew why he liked it so much. There was no silly dance or lightness to the actions. We were too far gone for that.

Spencer was a work of art. Every line or dip of his muscles was perfection. I loved that he was so thick and taller than me. His dark hair and lightly bronzed skin were just my type.

“Are you going to be a good omega and let me do what I want with you?” he asked, voice husky.

“Yes,” I breathed out. Giving him control was an easy decision. Spencer was the type of alpha to make sure I was taken care of.

He dipped down and kissed my lips before dropping between my legs. With his alpha strength he pulled me forward so I was just on the edge before flicking his tongue out to clean up the bead of precum forming on the head of my hard cock.

He hummed at the taste before sliding his lips over me and swallowing me down. There was no hesitation at all as he gripped my thighs to hold me in place and sucked my cock like it was his superpower.

Each tease of his tongue and hum of approval sent me spiraling even more out of control until I was hovering on the edge of my orgasm, fingers curled in his hair and his name falling from my lips.

“I’m going to come,” I whimpered. That was apparently the keyword for him to work harder. He hollowed his cheeks and doubled his efforts, ensuring I couldn’t hold back if I wanted to.

This time my voice wasn’t quiet, but a desperate, keening cry as my body reacted to his efforts. My orgasm pulsed through me like lightning, the heat of it running over my spine before swirling through my veins. I barely breathed as I came down his throat.

Spencer took his time cleaning up my cum, his tongue teasing over every inch of my overly sensitive cock before letting me go.

My chest heaved with my uneven breaths and he gave me a cocky smirk before kissing me again. I could taste myself on his tongue and it was strange, but incredible.

“Hands and knees,” he ordered as he pulled away. Spencer’s laughter filled the air as I scrambled on the bed with as much grace as a bull in a china shop.

All amusement was gone as he climbed on the bed behind me, his hands skimming over my flesh before his finger was pushing into my ass. I groaned at the intrusion but my body was prepared, another rush of slick making his job easier as he added another finger and started to stretch me.

Each second that passed as he focused on preparing me had my cock hardening even further. I was ready for my alpha to claim me.

“I’m going to give it to you, Ollie. Do you want that, omega?”

“Yes, alpha. Please,” I begged. My words cut off on a whimper as he pushed inside of me right then.

Spencer was gentle this time as he fucked me. His strokes were even and forceful, pushing his inflating knot deeper into me with each thrust.

“So good for me, Ollie. You were made to take my knot,” he praised as his fingers stroked down my spine, relaxing me to take him deeper.

The warmth that spread through me from his praise didn’t go unnoticed. Spencer continued to talk me through each moment, making love to me this time, not just fucking me.

I’d never felt so cherished in my life.

“You’re handling it so well,” he said as I relaxed further, pressing my face into the mattress so he could use me as he needed.

My body was on fire and my veins were filled with embers as he showered me in praises and pleasure, the two intertwining until my head was spinning. As if on cue he shifted, pegging my prostate.

I screamed out this time, my orgasm hitting without him even touching my cock. The pleasure shocked through me and I clamped down around his cock as it did.

He hooked a hand under my chest and pulled me up so he supported my weight before he skimmed his nose along my shoulder. The unmarred skin burned as if he were branding me, and I wished he would.

“Soon,” he promised as if he was reading my thoughts.

This position, with him locking me in place, had every sensation stealing my breath away. Pleasure rocked through us as he started to come, his body tensing and grip tightening as I felt him fill my ass with his seed.

“Mine,” he growled as he repositioned us on the bed, his lips finding my neck and leaving a soft trail before I turned his way, letting him kiss my lips.

“Yours,” I agreed.
