BONES
Three weeks later…
There is one section of the house I have kept from my wife intentionally. At first, it was an oversight, but the second I came up with this plan, I made sure to keep her away from it. I had to get her out of the house for a while today so I, along with Eduardo, could set it up without her asking questions. Now that everything is ready to go and I’ve told Penelope to bring her back, I’m riddled with nerves. Will she like this? Or will she think it’s stupid? I have never second guessed myself more times than I have in the last six hours.
Athena and Penelope walk in the door, and the relief I feel is instant. I have no fucking idea how she does this to me. Charging straight for her, I scoop her into my arms and slam my lips to hers.
My sister laughs. “Jesus, Bones. She went shopping for six hours. It’s not like she was away at war.”
I ignore her, and kiss the hell out of my wife. When I pull away, her cheeks are flushed, as she looks at me with a dazed expression. “Wow. I should leave more often.”
Penelope says, “I’m going to leave before I see things I will never unsee. Athena, I’ll call you. Bones, behave.”
I chuckle as she turns and heads out the door. Grabbing Athena’s hand, I pull her across the house to the stairs.
She giggles softly. “What is up with you?”
“I want to show you something.”
I take her to the farthest wing of the house and open the doors, and hear her gasp, “Oh my god, Luca.”
ATHENA
We step out onto a balcony that extends from the outside of the house. It’s massive, with a built-in railing that is made of the same stone as the pillars at the front of the house. There’s a fire pit in the middle, burning firewood, probably because it’s gotten colder over the last few weeks. There’s a glass bar off to the right, with several bottles of alcohol on it. The floor is covered with a large blanket, and two glasses of wine on the floor beside it. Luca pulls me to the blanket, sits down and pulls me on top of him, before handing me a drink. I say thank you and put it down beside me.
He stares at me with confusion. “It’s your favorite, Butterfly.”
I move my legs around him so I’m straddling his lap, and stroking my fingers down his face. “Thank you. It was very thoughtful.”
He continues staring at me, like he doesn’t understand me at all, so I just blurt it out.
“Luca, I’m pregnant.”
His breathing picks up as he nearly whispers, “Say that again.”
“I’m pregnant. I can’t drink wine, because it’s not good for our baby.”
“Goddamn it, Butterfly.”
My heart falls, in fact, I’m not sure it’s even beating at this moment.
I withdraw from him. “I thought this is what you wanted. You don’t want our baby?”
“I knew I’d fuck everything up.”
He takes a deep breath and waves his hand in the air. “I was supposed to give you everything. The moon, the stars in the sky, and instead, once again, you give me the entire fucking world. ”
Glancing up, I realize what he’s talking about as I release a gasp. Right above us is the most perfect sky, sparkling with millions of stars and a full moon.
“Luca. This is beautiful.”
He reaches out and touches my still flat stomach. “No. This is beautiful.”
Standing up and taking me with him, he turns around and lays me on the blanket, and unzips the zipper on the side of my dress that starts from the top and goes to the bottom.
He spreads my legs, and kneels between them as he removes his shirt, while dragging his eyes down my body, before bringing them back up to my face.
“I will never understand how a woman that had everything taken from her has managed to give all of herself to a man like me. I don’t deserve you. I never did. Maybe I never will, but I swear to you I’m going to do everything I can to make you happy.”
Climbing over me, he gazes at me with obvious adoration, and I say, “You already do, Luca.”
Pressing his hand to the side of my face, he groans, “You’ve given me a child. Made me a father. Whatever you need, tell me and it’s yours. You want your feet rubbed? Done. Ice cream at two in the morning? Whatever it is, I’ll do it.”
“I need my husband inside me.”
He removes himself from his pants, slides my panties to the side, and lines his cock up with my entrance.
“I’ll make the sacrifice,” he says with a chuckle, before he slides into me. Hovering over me with a hand on either side of me, he fucks me slowly. It’s quiet outside, with only the sounds of our heavy breathing, and the crackling fire.
“Luca,” I moan, as I run my fingers into the back of his hair, “I love you.”
He picks up his speed, and with every thrust, he hits my clit, causing me to moan .
“I love you too, Butterfly. I think I have since I saw you hanging upside down on my wall.”
My pussy clenches down on his cock as my orgasm builds, and he grunts his release while he stares at me.
“I was wrong. Butterflies aren’t too fragile for life. You will survive the monsters of our world, because I’ll protect you until my last breath. No one will ever hurt you again, because you’re mine.”
He rolls over to his back and pulls me with him, and wraps his arms around me. I sigh contentedly, because this is far more than I ever imagined my life could turn out to be. I lived a life of abuse, only ever hoping to survive another day. Happiness was never in my wildest dreams, because it seemed too far out of reach.
When Luca first mentioned having children, I was scared. How could I know I would never abandon my children like my mother did with me? When I looked down at the pregnancy test, with Penelope hovering over me, I knew the answer. One little word, pregnant , and I knew I already loved this baby. I will probably never know why she did what she did. And that’s okay, because my happiness doesn’t come from the people that gave me life. It’s in the family I’m creating with Luca.
“Marry me again.”
“What?” I say, popping my head up to look into his face.
“Marry me again, because you love me and want to spend the rest of your life with me. Not because you have threats hanging over your head. We can do it anywhere you want.”
I can’t help the grin that overtakes my face. “I’ll marry you again, Luca.”
The End
