A week later, I woke up early and headed to the Freedom Trail. Staying up on my cardio during the off-season was necessary, and while I typically used the treadmill in the gym, nothing beat a morning run amongst all the historical sites Boston had to offer.
As I passed Old North Church, I was surprised to see Kaylee running in my direction. The moment she spotted me, a smile spread across her gorgeous face. When she reached me, she continued to run in place and popped out her earbuds.
“Hey, what are you doing out here?” she asked.
“The same as you, it appears,” I teased.
She rolled her eyes. “Very funny. I’ve just never seen you out here before, and I run on this trail a couple of times a week.”
“Yeah, I don’t run here very often, but it’s a beautiful day, and I wanted some fresh air.”
“We’ll don’t let me stop you. Gotta keep that blood flowing.”
If only she knew where the blood was flowing while I looked her over in her sports bra and skin-tight running pants. “Mind if I run with you?”
She shook her head. “Not at all, but weren’t you headed in the opposite direction?”
I shrugged. “I was turning around at Prince Street Park, so I didn’t have much further to go.”
“Okay, I’m parked near Boston Common, so that’s where I’m headed.”
“My car is there too,” I said as we started making our way down the street.
“Fair warning, I might not be able to keep up with you.”
“I saw you back there before you noticed me. I doubt you’ll have trouble.”
“Let’s hope.” She giggled.
“What are your plans for the rest of the weekend?” I asked as we dodged a few people walking and Kaylee kept pace with me.
“I’m going to dinner with Ford tonight.”
“Ah, now it makes sense why Coop agreed to meet with us at Flanagan’s later. I was surprised he was willing to leave their little love nest for a few hours.”
She snorted. “Tell me about it. They’re still in their honeymoon phase, but I’m thrilled they found each other.”
“Me too.”
We continued to chat about the mundane things we were doing over the next few days. When we finished our run, we found out we were parked near each other. Standing next to her Toyota Camry, I realized I wasn’t ready for her to leave. “Do you want to grab a smoothie or something?”
“Sure. That sounds delicious.”
“We can ride together, and I’ll bring you back when we’re done.”
“Okay.” She beamed.
Without thinking, I laced my fingers with hers and led her to my Audi. We climbed inside, and I turned on the car. “Do you live nearby?” I wondered aloud, realizing I didn’t know anything about her living situation.
“Not too far from here. My apartment is in South Boston, but this is my favorite place to run.”
“Yeah, I like it too. Maybe I can join you again soon.”
“I’d like that.”
The conversation hit a lull, and I glanced at Kaylee, who appeared deep in thought. “What’s on your mind?”
She shifted in her seat to look at me. “I don’t know how to ask this, and feel free to tell me it’s none of my business …”
When she didn’t say anything else, I squeezed her leg. “You can ask me anything.”
“Is there something going on between you and Austin outside of what the three of us are doing?”
“What do you mean?” I balked, surprised by her question.
Kaylee shrugged. “I don’t know. You guys always seem so in tune. It’s like you hold silent conversations just by looking at each other.”
I grinned. “That comes from playing hockey together. We’re on the same line and practice a lot together. We have to be able to anticipate the other’s moves without talking.”
“That makes sense, but you didn’t seem to have an issue when I held you together when we … you know, so I thought maybe it was something else. But I could be wrong, and like I said, you don’t have to tell me anything if you don’t want to. I only asked because I don’t want to get in the way if you guys are starting something up.”
“You aren’t getting in the way of anything. I promise. But, I should be honest with you.” I scrubbed a hand over my face. Admitting to Butcher that I was attracted to him had been difficult, but while awkward for me, I didn’t think he would be bothered by my confession. However, I wasn’t sure how Kaylee would react. “After LA, I was questioning some things about myself and what we’d done. I talked to Butcher about it, and we ended up kissing.”
“I knew it.” She smiled brightly.
“You’re not upset?”
Kaylee shook her head. “Not at all. Austin already said he was bi, and while I assumed you were straight, being attracted to a guy and the two of you kissing doesn’t change anything regarding how I feel about either of you.”
“Thanks, that means a lot,” I admitted. “But I think I’m only attracted to Butcher. I don’t see any other guy in the same way.”
“He’s pretty hot, huh?”
I opened my mouth to respond, but stopped because I wasn’t completely convinced what I was feeling was real. Nor was I ready to admit to her that I couldn’t stop thinking about my kiss with my teammate and how I spent the last few nights wondering how it would have felt if he and I hadn’t been interrupted. “Maybe?”
“Don’t worry. Your secret is safe with me.”
We found a place to park near the smoothie place and headed inside. There weren’t any empty seats, so we grabbed our drinks to go and got back into my car.
“I’m glad I ran into you this morning,” I said, heading back toward Boston Common.
“Me too.”
“I’d like to see you again. Can I give you a call this week so we can make plans?” I stopped at a red light.
“Of course.” Kaylee’s face lit up. “I have a busy week coming up at work, but maybe we can do it the following week?”
“Absolutely.” Unable to resist, I leaned over the center console and pressed my lips to hers.
She moaned into my mouth, and I wished I could spend the rest of the day kissing her. I couldn’t remember the last time, something as simple as a kiss felt so exhilarating. When I pulled back, her eyes sparkled, and the corners of her mouth turned up in a smile. It sucked I was going to have to wait any amount of time before I could see her again.
Once we got back to her car, I pulled into a space next to hers and checked the time. “I hate to just drop you off, but I’m supposed to be meeting a couple of my teammates at the gym soon for some strength training.”
“It’s no problem.” She opened the door. “I’ve got stuff to do before I meet up with Ford later.”
I nodded. “We’ll talk soon.”
“Sounds good.” She got out, waved goodbye and then climbed into her car.
I waited for her to drive away before I headed back to my condo.
After my morning with Kaylee, my brain was in overdrive. When we parted ways, there were two thoughts running through my head. One, I really wanted to see her again, and two, I needed to do something to satisfy my curiosity about what might have happened between Butcher and me if the movers hadn’t interrupted us during our kiss.
Once I showered and got dressed, I sent Butcher a text:
You home?
Yeah. I’m making lunch. Want to come over?
Is that even a real question?
lmao
Another message came through a second later:
The door’s unlocked. Just let yourself in
I shoved my feet into my slides and walked next door.
“Hey, man. Something smells good. Whatcha’ making?” I asked when I entered his place.
“Just some chicken, veggies, and rice.” He dished some onto a plate and slid it across the counter to me before grabbing two bottles of water from the fridge.
Sitting on one of the barstools, I twisted the cap off the bottle. “Thanks.” I watched as he prepared his own plate, and Kaylee was right, he was hot. I knew I was attracted to him, but it was surprising how much I had enjoyed the way his dark beard had felt when our lips had touched and how turned on I was by the idea of running my hands over his hard body.
Once he had his food, he joined me at the island. “What’ve you been up to today?” he asked.
“Went for a run and happened to see Kaylee out on the Freedom Trail.”
“Oh, yeah? How is she?”
“Good. We ran together and got smoothies after.” I popped a piece of broccoli into my mouth, and after swallowing, I added, “I told her I wanted to see her again. Thought we could take her out on a real date. She mentioned being super busy at work this upcoming week, so maybe the following week would work?”
While I’d told her I wanted to take her on a date, it didn’t take me long to realize I wanted Butcher there as well.
“I have my brother’s wedding in Miami, remember? But you should still take her out.”
“You’d be okay with that?”
He nodded. “Of course. After all, I took her to the ESPYs. There’s no reason you two can’t do something alone.”
“Okay.” I took a drink of water. “There’s something else she and I talked about.”
He arched a brow and gestured for me to continue.
“She asked if there was something going on between you and me.”
His eyes widened. “Really? What’d you say?”
I looked down at my plate, avoiding his stare as I was instantly nervous. “I … ah … told her that I was attracted to you and we kissed.”
“You’re attracted to me?” I could hear the smile in his voice and when I looked up, he was smirking at me.
“Maybe.” I grinned.
“Yeah, you are.” He winked. “But how’d she react to you telling her we kissed?”
“She was cool about it.”
“And how do you feel now that you told her?”
I thought about his question for a second and admitted, “Relieved. It’s not as though I needed her permission to do whatever I wanted, but knowing she didn’t judge me makes me feel a little more confident to explore whatever this is.” I gestured between us.
He smiled brightly. “I could definitely get on board with some exploration.”
I plucked a napkin from the holder on the counter and wiped my face. “I’m glad you said that.”
“You are?”
Even though I knew what I was about to say made it likely we could never go back to the easy friendship we shared, I gathered up some more courage and said, “Do you think things would have gone further if we hadn’t been interrupted when we kissed?”
Butcher lifted a shoulder. “I was definitely willing, but it would have been up to you. Is that what you wanted?”
My pulse quickened. “I think it’s what I want now.”
“You need to be sure.”
I let out a breath. “I’m sure. I’m happy Kaylee doesn’t have a problem with us doing … stuff, and I think you were on to something about me doing this with just you. At least at first.”
“Yeah?” He grinned.
“Yeah.” I swallowed as he licked his lips.
He slid off his stool and leaned forward, pressing his lips to mine. This time, I was a little less unsure and immediately opened my mouth for him. He cupped the sides of my face, stroking his tongue with mine. While I’d been uncertain before, the way the kiss made my dick perk up was proof my body wanted him.
He groaned and I stood, our bodies going flush against each other as he deepened the kiss. I could feel his erection against mine and thinking of how turned on he was made my heart race. What was going to happen? Was I ready for more? Did I want more? I’d told him I did but could I actually go through with it?
When we broke apart to catch our breath, Butcher grabbed my hand. “Let’s go to the couch.”
He led me into the living room, and as soon as we sat on the cushions, he wrapped his rough hand around the back of my neck and tugged me closer. “Just tell me if you want me to stop.” He kissed along my jaw.
I nodded and closed my eyes as I focused on the feeling of his lips across my skin. While a little voice in my head was still making me question what exactly was happening between me and Butcher, it wasn’t enough for me to want to stop. If I wanted to come to terms with everything, I needed to allow myself to experience what it felt like to be with another man.
I ran my hands down his chest and stomach until I hit the hem of his T-shirt. Gripping the fabric, I slowly lifted it over his head. His sculpted torso, which I’d seen numerous times in the locker room, suddenly held a new appeal, and I couldn’t stop myself from brushing my fingers over his ripped abs.
“I want to taste you,” Butcher whispered.
I swallowed. “Okay.”
He removed my shirt and then kissed his way down my chest before sliding to the floor to kneel between my outstretched legs. His fingers tugged at my waistband, and I lifted my hips so he could pull off my basketball shorts and boxer briefs. My body shivered as he wrapped his hand around my shaft and gave it a few pumps before bending forward to lick the bead of pre-cum from my tip.
With his eyes locked on mine, he took my length into his mouth. Seeing him—a beast of a man on the ice—on his knees with his lips wrapped around my dick wasn’t something I expected to enjoy so much, but watching his mouth go up and down my dick was something I’d never forget.
Twisting my fingers in his shaggy black hair, I held on as Butcher bobbed up and down, my crown bumping the back of his throat every time.
“If you don’t stop, I’m going to come in your mouth,” I groaned.
He popped off of my shaft. “I don’t mind.”
Remembering his words from the day we kissed about letting me fuck him, I grinned. “I’d rather do it in your ass.”
“Really?” His eyes sparkled with what looked to be excitement.
“Yeah.” I nodded. I’d done anal with women before so I wasn’t new to the act, and seeing the way he was looking at me as though he was about to open a present on Christmas morning, I wanted to do nothing else but to be buried deep inside of him when I came.
“Okay. I’ll be right back.” He hopped to his feet and hurried to his bedroom. A few seconds later, he returned and tossed a condom and a bottle of lube on the cushion next to me.
“Have you done this before?” he asked, stripping out of his shorts.
“Anal?”
He nodded.
“Yeah.”
“Good. Then you know how important prep is.” My mind was racing with the idea of sinking my fingers inside of him, and I realized I hadn’t answered him when he added, “I can do that if you’re not comfortable with it.”
“Sorry. My imagination got the better of me there.” I grabbed the bottle and poured the slick gel onto my fingers. “I want to.”
Butcher grinned and climbed onto the couch, getting on his hands and knees. I stood behind him and took a moment to admire his ass before spreading the lubricant around his entrance. Slowly, I pressed a finger inside him. He moaned, resting his forehead on the back cushion of the couch as I slid my finger in and out a few times before adding a second digit. When he started to push back against my hand, I added another finger and scissored them, gently stretching the tight ring of muscle.
“Fuck,” he hissed. “You have done this before.”
“A few times. Are you ready for me?” I asked when he started rocking his hips back and forth.
“God, yes.”
Tearing open the condom wrapper, I rolled the latex down my shaft and covered it with more lube. My heart pounded as I gripped his hip with one hand and used the other to line up with his hole.
Easing inside him, I moved slowly at first, giving him a moment to adjust. But maybe it was me who needed a second because as I looked down at where our bodies were connected, I couldn’t help but think about how this moment would change everything between us. After today, Butcher wouldn’t just be my teammate. He’d be the man I fucked. The guy who I was starting to realize I wanted more than just shared sexual experiences with.
Before I could get lost in my thoughts, he braced his forearms against the back of the couch and said, “You don’t need to hold back.”
As soon as the words passed his lips, I began thrusting into him. “Fuck, you feel good.”
Wanting to make sure he got off as well, I reached around and wrapped my hand around his cock. Although I’d never touched another man’s dick before, I knew what I liked, so I tightened my grip and stroked him from root to tip.
“Faster,” he moaned.
I picked up the pace. “Like this?”
“Yes!” he shouted. His hips bucked beneath me, and I could feel his dick twitch in my grasp. “Harder!”
Fucking someone as strong and powerful as Butcher was a heady feeling, knowing he not only could take what I was giving him, but was also begging for more. I pounded into him while pumping his cock, and sweat glistened on his perfectly sculpted back as our bodies moved together.
“I’m going to come.” His tight hole clenched around me as he groaned and his cum covered my hand.
Within seconds, my body shuddered, and I filled the condom with my own release. It took several seconds for my heart rate to come down, and I slowly slid out of him.
He turned around and looked at me with a hint of concern. “Are you good?”
I smiled. “Better than good.”
