CHAPTER 32

K nowing the fair is protected, makes it relaxing. But I don’t feel like playing with magic tonight and a little while later, I pick up my amazing teddy and take Adhan’s hand and we head back to the manor.

It’s not very late, so we go into our lounge. I love this lounge. Well truthfully, I love all the rooms in this house. But our lounge is so comfy. We have oversized chairs, comfy sofas, coffee tables, lots of bookcases filled with books, and a multi-media set-up. I added a lot of soft furnishing, and it screams Adhan and me.

I also created a photo gallery on one of the walls. I even found time to add our family photo from Temp’s birthday.

We have a family lounge downstairs, which we honestly don’t use much. Each couple has their own private lounges, but we tend to use Kean and Titus’ a lot, as they are always having a film night. Back when Titus was a workaholic, he hadn’t seen many films. So, their lounge became film night lounge, that way Titus could relax and enjoy the wonders of vegging with family and catching up on all the amazing films that he has never seen.

We also all have our own kitchens, but we hardly ever use them, preferring to eat as a family in the main kitchen. It used to be Adhan’s kitchen, but being the biggest it’s now the family one, and we had one built up here.

I put my teddy on one of the chairs and he looks good there.

“I’m glad to be home,” I say to Adhan.

“Me too,” he replies, pulling me to the sofa and sitting down. I sit next to him, leaning into his side and he wraps his arm around me. “I can’t believe none of us thought about the town boundaries,” he says, shaking his head.

“At least we figured it out,” I say.

“What do you think will happen to that dark witch?” Adhan asks.

“I can guarantee we’ll find out at some point,” I say because we’re bound to encounter them soon.

“I’m wondering what the karma backlash for Sly will be.”

I think for a moment. “I don’t think there will be one. I mean all he did was turn the magic back on the sender.”

“True. Changing the subject, how is the script going for Wicked?”

I laugh. “It’s going well. The main bits and songs will be the same, but we’re adding our own flair to it.”

“I expect nothing less,” Adhan says. “We have the town bonfire and fireworks display soon.”

“Gah,” I say. “If there is one thing I detest it’s fireworks and fireworks displays.”

Adhan moves and looks at me in surprise. “Really?”

I look up at him. “Oh yeah, all the people watching going ‘oo’ and ‘aah’. Then the noise of the actual fireworks, that sound like bombs going off. They scare animals and can affect military veterans with PTSD. Plus, people start letting off fireworks weeks before the actual day. So, nope, not my favourite thing. I’m hunkering down in here, eating chocolate and watching TV.”

“You could be right about the noise. I know Cam hasn’t ordered any fireworks yet. I might suggest he looks for silent ones.”

I move around, kick my shoes off and lie down, my head resting on his lap, looking up at him. “That could work. Still not attending though.”

“You might not be the only person in town who doesn’t like them. You could host an anti-fireworks party,” he says, smiling down at me. One hand stroking my head, the other resting on my stomach.

“Now there’s a thought. It could be a musicals film fest,” I say, warming to the idea and grinning. Yep, I’m liking that idea more and more.

“And there it is,” Adhan says, giving me a gentle smile.

“What?” I ask confused.

“The complete happiness in your eyes. There has been a sad shadow in them all day and now it’s gone.”

I put my hands on top of his hand, which is now stroking my stomach. “I am happy. You make me happy. How about we go to bed because I need you?”

“That sounds like a very good idea.”

I wake up the next morning to the feel of Adhan kissing me around my neck.

“Best way to wake up,” I say happily, moving around so I can put my arms around Adhan's neck. “Didn’t you get enough of me last night?”

We made love so many times last night that I lost count and sleep. I really don’t care. I’ll take being tired today after last night. Plus, I was so tired that I don’t remember dreaming, which was probably Adhan’s plan.

“I will never get enough of you. But you’re opening the shop this morning and I’ve lots to do, so we need to get up.”

I shake my head. “I can’t get up until you have thoroughly kissed me good morning,” I tell him, grinning.

“Fair enough,” he says, leaning his head down and kissing me, before making love to me.
