A ureliusz rumbled insistently. “My turn.”
“Hush. Don’t move or you’ll frighten them away.”
He went still behind her, his claws still gently resting on her hips, his breathing low and even against her spine. “Where?”
“Just at the edge of the trees, behind the elderberry bush by that large oak. There are two. They usually run when they see us in our true forms. This is a first.”
“Hmm, perhaps they enjoyed the show. Why not see if we can lure them out with a second act?”
Astrid kept her gaze fixed on the pair of wide-eyed humans standing stock-still beside the large oak. They’d clearly caught a good bit of the show, if not all of it. Their auras flared red with desire, mingling even though they weren’t physically touching.
The man was a sturdy, handsome specimen, as lovely as any human she’d seen, and she cocked her head, eyeing him more closely. She should be on the lookout for a proper mate, after all, if she ever wanted to carry on the Magnus line. Thanks to dragon law, she couldn’t breed with her own kind—only with a human male. Something about their numbers dwindling too drastically and a need to keep the bloodline diverse. But humans made perfect breeding stock, and she’d even heard of some dragons falling in love with members of their harems.
“What do you think of her? ” she asked, craning her head halfway around to look at the randy dragon behind her.
Aureliusz nuzzled between her wings with a murmur of curiosity, then lifted his head. His tongue flicked out, tasting the air as he continued idly stroking his cock up and down the crease of her ass beneath her tail. He paused and looked up again, snarling low with interest.
The human woman’s breath hitched and her aura flared brighter. Her hand went to her throat, fingers fluttering at the buttons of her dress before tugging at her collar as if she was suddenly too hot. She was a pretty blonde whose coloring matched that of Aureliusz’ human shape.
“She is exquisite. Do you think she’d like to see me mount you?” he asked.
“I think we need to keep them watching if we want to draw them in. I’d like a taste of the man’s essence. Wouldn’t you like a taste of hers?”
“I’d love to taste them both. How do you propose we seduce them? Their auras are half-fear, half-lust. I don’t want to risk sending them running, but if they succumb to their desire, it’s a good indication they would make fine dragon mates.”
“Come around me slowly. Let her see how magnificent you are.”
Aureliusz replied with a smug growl and slipped out from behind her, prowling in a half-circle around the clearing. He flexed his wings and tossed his head so the sun glinted off it. The sky was so blue and his golden scales shining so brilliantly that they looked almost as green as the forest.
And between his thighs, his enormous cock still stood proud and erect, its bronze tip glistening wetly. The sunlight glinted off the row of fleshy scales along the top, making his shaft look as thought it had been crafted of pure gold. There was an illusion of hard edges, but in reality, those ridges and the finely textured underside were the reason no female ever left a male dragon’s bed unsatisfied.
Astrid watched the human pair with interest. The woman’s attention remained fixed on Aureliusz, and when he rose up on his haunches to display his muscled belly and thick, golden shaft, she didn’t balk. Instead she bit her lower lip and leaned ever so slightly toward the man, whispering something Astrid couldn’t make out from this distance.
This wouldn’t do. She wanted to hear what they said. Good thing eavesdropping was part of her skillset as the Queen’s spymaster.
She took a deep breath and expelled a lungful of Shadow smoke. It crept silently along the ground, appearing as nothing more than the shadow of a cloud passing before the sun. When it reached the forest, she commanded it to coil around the tree beside the couple and become her ears.
