CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO
TRIGGER
A fter meeting with the faction leaders to get a shaky plan in order, I was wound up. My demon had an urge to shed some blood, so I didn’t go home right away. Talking to my contacts wasn’t helping my mood either.
Earlier, a slave I didn’t recognize showed up to tell me all undesired personnel were banned from Lucifer’s home. He officially locked the world out, and The Dark Council hadn’t been seen since the assembly, which was weird because they loved to create drama and flaunt their high status.
Lucifer wouldn’t have told the others about the death of Big Yellow. His Pride couldn’t take a hit like that, so why were they hiding?
I sent affection to Ivy through our bond to make sure she was okay while I waited for my next informant to show. My mate got depressed when she finally found Piper’s life-book, but it was unavailable to download. When Alaric recommended that she look for both Piper’s and Marnie’s life-book, she got so excited. I almost broke the device that denied her access. She never found Marnie’s either. I was glad the little Pixie was gone but seeing my Dreamgirl mope around was worse than the flirty Pixie.
Where was our helpful seer like the others had? Probably in a better Dimension, not many people stayed in Hell by choice.
The short blubber looking Nati Demon finally came through the portal in the tree that no one knew about. His body only came in halfway, so he could leave again.
I spent a lot of time, trying to gain access to the magic, but it only let things in, not out. As long as they had a body part, string, or something that connected them to the swirling red portal, they could leave. It was frustrating.
I folded my arms, glaring at the demon. “What do you have for me?”
He shook his head, shrugging while slime splatted on the ground around him. The black tar dripping off his fingers disappeared before hitting the ground, but that sludgy mess wouldn’t. I’d have to burn it to keep this portal hidden.
I rolled my eyes. “Seriously?” He still hadn’t produced any results. Maybe, he would be my victim tonight.
“I can’t get information you need. No one allowed in home,” He stammered out.
It was the same story the slaves gave me. If Lucifer was cleaning his own mess and cooking his own food, the sick fuck was up to something. He didn’t even clean up his own come after masturbating. He had a slave there to lick it off. It was literally the only thing she did, so he didn’t accidentally kill her.
“That isn’t what I wanted to hear. We had a deal. You?—”
He burst into flames before I could say anything else, screaming in pain. I stepped back, my knives at the ready. Those flames weren’t mine.
“All of this work to get lil ol’ me, son.” The wildlife went silent, and the trees shrunk back. I spun around, a blade flying through the air straight for his heart. Of course, the fucker caught it.
“It’s rather pathetic you came from my loins. You’d think after all the torture and training I gave you growing up, you’d be better at this. Good thing, I never plan on stepping down as king because you and your brothers wouldn’t make it long.”
As much as I hated the bastard, his skills were unmatched. His life was one fight after another. It took a few thousand years for him to become unstoppable, but it wouldn’t take me even a hundred for me to kill him.
“Do you really think you can beat me, even with the help of the rest of your little kid group? You’re nothing. When you lose, I’ll enjoy fucking my Queen in front of you. I know exactly how to give a Succubus what she needs. It’ll be beautiful to see your face while she’s screaming my name.” His jaw bounced with annoyance, but his anger was overzealous and unlike the calm, aloof man he usually was with me.
My fists clenched. It took everything inside of me to hold back my rage. Kain was so much better at holding back. I was more of a headbutt a bitch and deal with the fallout kind of guy, but the Devil wasn’t someone I could do that with.
I couldn’t stay silent this time, or he’d consider it a submission. “Don’t worry. When I’m bathing in your tainted blood, I’ll have one of your council members do the same. Maybe Big Yellow. It could turn his frown upside down.” I couldn’t let him know how on edge I was from his words. He always got what he wanted, but I refused to let him get my Dreamgirl.
His face darkened. The sneer had a hint of his monstrous form. The more powerful a demon the prettier they could look. Yet, deep down, the tar that dripped from the Nati Demon fingertips was still inside them, poisoning their heart, soul, and, eventually, their physical form.
“Shut your fucking mouth! I don't care how many people you kill or turn against me. All it'll take is one huge zap from your communicator and you’ll all bow to your betters!”
That was his plan? Torture us until we listened. I couldn’t help the smile that stretched my lips. I made him snap.
It might work with Ivy because she wouldn't last long hearing us be hurt. His golden eyes widened as he realized he said too much.
"I'm going to fucking kill you like I should have done when you were a baby!” he shouted.
He moved for me, but I had already threw the transportation potion down. This wasn't the first time my sperm donor tried to kill me. I learned a long time ago to be ready.
Before, I vanished Lucifer roared. "I'll have my fucking Queen and your god damn head." Lucifer was losing it. He taught us to never show emotions, and the fucker just had a mood-swing.
When I reappeared on the roof, I readied my weapons just in case. I had defeated the curses to get up here, so I could teleport to this spot. Most people couldn’t, though. But who knew when it came to Lucifer. I sighed after a while when there was no sign of him. He wouldn’t hunt me without all his guards.
The fact he could come and go as he pleased set me on edge. I had been working on protecting our building and apartment during the fight since I had so much time to kill, but it was a shaky spell. My concentration wasn’t there toward the end, which was how Alaric’s father kept popping in. He was invited, so the magic wouldn’t keep him out, but that meant only one person had to invite Lucifer in for him to gain access.
Now, I needed to figure out how to unlink us from our communicators, so Lucifer couldn’t just zap lightning into our veins whenever he wanted. I might like the rush, but the other fighters probably wouldn’t appreciate it as much.
Trigger, you okay? I can sense the stress and anxiety rolling off of you. You blocked me like you said I couldn’t do, by the way, so you better have a good explanation. My Dreamgirls’ presence in my mind was soothing.
I just had a lovely little chat with my sperm donor, I explained.
My head exploded with their questions. I closed my eyes to focus and force the instant headache away.
Where are you? Kain’s voice quieted the others. That was a gift I was envious of.
I was meeting with our contacts, but I’m coming to you. I’ll tell you everything. I wouldn’t leave anything out either. They needed to be as angry as me because we were going to need it for the fight to come. The Devil was not getting what he wanted this time. No matter how bat shit crazy he got.
It was time to stop playing around and get things done. I think it’s time we tried the magic unlocking spell.
