CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

T he ocean scent air filled my nostrils, causing me to sigh. The salty tang was my new favorite scent. I laid back in my chair and wiggled my toes in the cool sand.

“I didn’t know the ocean was so powerful. It knocked me on my ass twice. I didn’t even know which way was up by the time it stopped spinning me around,” Dex said. He plopped down at my feet, getting my legs wet.

“You have to dive into the waves. I told you that,” Alaric chastised, but he had a smile on his face. It was hard to get mad when you were in paradise.

Trigger came up from behind and hugged me as Dex and Alaric continued to talk about the ocean. “Have I told my Dreamgirl how gorgeous she is today?”

I turned my head to give him a smile. “Nope. I think you should be punished later for it too. How dare you not tell me.” I teased and brought my lips up to meet his. In an instant, he took control and devoured my moans as if they alone would feed him. The bonds hummed in harmony. Pure utter happiness was a thing, and we had finally made it.

“By all means. I am yours to punish.” He kissed my nose and sat next to Dex, telling him about how the ocean did the same to him earlier.

We were alone on this private beach, so I knew the presents walking up behind me had to be either Bones or Kain.

“Want some fruit? The trees are covered in them, so I thought why not give my woman some.” Bones’ words got a scoff out of Trigger. Those two still competed with each other to be the better mate, and I had no complaints. Who didn’t like to be cherished and loved?

The smile on my face almost hurt with how big it was. After a few bites, I stiffened. A chill ran up my spine. Something was wrong. My gut said so.

I licked my lips before speaking. “Where’s Kain?”

The rest of my mates froze. “Who?”

I chuckled, but it was forced. “Don’t play stupid.” I got up. My eyes darted around, but there was no one else near us. And nothing but the crashing water and sand. Where did our house go?

My heart slammed into my rib cage demanding to be released. I asked again, but they still looked at me like I was crazy. No air would go to my lungs.

“Kain!” I screamed.

“He’s gone, my naughty little Queen.” The voice threatened to give me a heart attack. I snapped in Lucifer’s direction. He was butt ass naked with a huge hard cock pointing at me. “It’s time you come home.”

In a blink, my back was pressed to a cold wall with hot chains restraining me. I thrashed around. The chains bit into my now naked flesh. No.

“Mm, I do like seeing you so beautifully bared for me.” Lucifer sounded so smug like he won, but I wouldn’t stop fighting. I bucked and squirmed for what felt like hours, but the chains wouldn’t give. They sucked my power out of me.

“No, no, no! Get away from me!” I shouted in Lucifer’s face as his cock touched my lower stomach.

“I’ll make it good for you this time.” His words were barely heard over my screams. As he got close to the apex of my thighs, I couldn’t stop the tears from falling down my cheeks.

Right before the piece of shit could connect with me, a shout had my eyes snapping opened. A body slammed into Lucifer and took him down to the ground. Even though it was only a glimpse, I knew it was Trigger. Both of their bodies vanished.

“Trigger!”

The fruit in my stomach soured. What the fuck was happening? The tears still stung my eyes. The hope and love I had been filled with drained out of me like I had sprung a leak. Could anyone ever get to me? Was I Lucifer’s whore, now?

“Never, Poison. You’ll never be his anything.” In a desperate jerk I followed the voice.

“Kain?” I gasped out. He was fucking see-through like a ghost. “Oh fuck. Are you dead?”

He came to me and cupped my face. I cried harder when his warm skin touched mine. I didn’t care he was corporeal.

“I’m not dead.” He took my chains off slowly once I nodded that I understood. “I’m not quite alive either. I’m actually only here because of Piper.”

“Piper? What?”

He nodded, helping me to move away from the wall. When he took off his black jacket and threw it over my shoulders, I couldn’t help but be awed when the mystical fabric became solid against me. Whoa. I gladly slipped my arms in and sniffed the collar to smell his whisky scent.

“She won the Demon Trials as you know. When Lucifer gave her power, she found out she could dreamwalk. Well, not quite, it’s more of a voice then her appearing in the mind like normal dreamwalkers, but she managed to send me to you.” He shrugged and wrapped his arms around me. “I don’t know how it works, but I’m fucking thankful. We need to think about getting a seer of our own because she sounds like she’s helping them immensely.”

I squeezed him tightly. “Anything you want.”

“I could get used to those words.” A smiled stretched but it dropped at the pulling sensation in my stomach. I jerked in Kain’s arms, wincing at the pain. “Poison, just go with the sensation. I’m working on coming back to you.”

I shook my head. “I can’t leave you. I’m not whole unless you’re all there.” Those stupid tears fell down my cheeks again. My heart broke even thinking about not having all my mates.

“They’re working on it, but I promise. No matter what, I’ll make it back to you.” His voice faded in and out which just made me cling to him harder. It was feudal, he slipped from my tight grip. “Don’t cry, mate. I’ll find you again. I promise.”

This was a fucking dream. Oh goddess, was this even real?

“Ivy, I need you to wake up.” Soft hands touched me, but I didn’t want to listen. My dreams were so peaceful. I wanted to take Kain and go back to the beach with all my men. We were so happy. I felt it.

“My Dreamgirl, we need you.”

“You’ve been asleep for two days.”

“The sacrifice is today.”

Everything they said made me want to jump into the ocean and swim away. Being the one who was responsible and in charge sounded like a horrible idea. The tranquility called to me, giving that up would be stupid.

“Please.”

Damn it all to a prison in Hell. Why would they sound so lost like that? I didn’t know who spoke, but I knew that I cared for them. So, like the dumbass that I was, I let go and gave into the pulling sensation. I seriously was going to regret this.

I gasped and shot up from a prone position. All my senses came back in seconds, making my heartrate spike to impossible heights. My whole body ached and cracked as I moved. I needed… A glass of water was shoved in my face immediately. The nectar was the best thing I had ever tasted.

Slowly, I blinked my eyes open. My four loving mates were there hovering over me. Four?

“Where’s Kain?” my voice cracked as I gave Alaric the glass back.

Their gazes went to my side. I think I knew before I asked. The warm body next to me was one of my mates.

I put my hand on his bruised, bare chest. If it hadn’t healed yet even with healing balm, I must have done some damage. But his chest moved up and down, so I couldn’t be too mad at myself.

“He’s in a coma. One of our trusted healers came to check you guys out. You were fine. Rest would help bring you back. He didn’t know about Kain, though.” Dex explained as he sat next to me and grabbed my hand, petting it.

“Come on, we need to get going. Take all the potions I have for you to help you function. You’ll have to get ready too. Hurry. We’re running out of time,” Trigger complained, which made my forehead scrunch up. He usually was a lot more chill than this. He stormed out of the room, saying something about bottles in the fridge.

“With both of you two out, Trigger has had to lead the faction. Let’s just say, he’s not a fan.”

Bones snorted at Dex’s words. “The grumpy shit has something stuck up his ass and won’t let us help him.” Trigger came in before Bones had finished speaking. His glare was murderous.

“Whatever. You just don’t seem to care that Lucifer is here and has been constantly attacking her dreams. He almost got her last time. I’ve been fighting him off. I’ve been doing everything to keep him away from you. He won’t get what he wants this time.”

My dream couldn’t have been real. Right? I kept my mouth shut just in case it was all my imagination. It would only distract them.

“Come here,” I opened my arms for him, but I wasn’t expecting him to do a swimmer’s dive into bed on top of me. I wrapped my arms around him, tightly. I could tell he needed it. I knew I did.

“Watch it, you ass. She hasn’t taken any of your potions yet,” Alaric grumbled and handed me a jingling bag.

Trigger groaned like I was the one who just belly flopped onto him. “Let’s get ready. We have an attack to lead and a king to kill.”

I gladly took the first potion out of the bag and stood. Every part of me was sore. I didn’t even hurt this much when I jumped off the roof.

With an un-lady-like groan, I lifted the vial up before uncorking it. “Cheers.” The bitter liquid splashed down my throat. My muscles instantly loosened like they did after a massage. One by one the potion healed the wreck my body had become until they were gone. The relief of being able to move and breathe normally again put a smile on my face.

“Fuck it feels good to be back,” I whispered to myself, but of course, my mates heard me.

“We still have a few more minutes until we have to leave. Get your shoes on, my Queen.” Dex kissed my cheek. “I’ve missed you so much. Thank you for coming back to me. I wish there was time for me to show you how much.”

I leaned in and gave him a proper kiss, feeding him at the same time. He moaned into my mouth. “After?”

“Nothing could stop me,” he whispered and walked away.

Bones was next to get his hug and kiss. Then, my vampire. Alaric sliced my tongue to feed as well while kissing me. It was one heck of a way to motivate me. I’d win this fight just to enjoy the touch of my mates again. It soothed something inside of me that the potions couldn’t heal.

My eyes drifted back to Kain, and the moment soured. Please, Goddess Nyx, help him .

Everyone was close to being finished, but still had a few things to do, so I turned to the bed. Closing my eyes, I called for my uniform like I would a dog. “Here clothesy, clothes. Be a good magical leather suit and come home.” I heard several snorts.

There was no magic in the air or a sound of wind to let me know the clothes arrived, but when my eyes drifted to the bed, a small bundle of leather sat there. Damn, it worked. I half expected the outfit to choose Piper over me and refuse to come back.

“Oh, good idea, beautiful. That outfit will be the best to fight in.” Bones gave me a peck on the cheek and walked away. Trigger was on his communicator, yelling, and the others were still getting ready. I needed to hurry, though. A paper floated to the ground when I unfolded my uniform.

They did promise me a note. I ignored the paper, so I could get dressed first. The leather suit hugged my body. It covered all of me, except my hands and feet. The V shape see-through at the neckline for my cleavage was unwelcome, but flattering. The important part of the suit was that it would heal itself and keep most spells and potions from hitting my skin. The fact it regulated my temperature would also help a lot today since we were going to be outside.

I braided my hair into two long twists and, and sat down to put on my boots. The note silently screamed at me from the ground. I was dying to read it, so I moved quicker. Finally, once I was done, I scooped up the note.

My hands shook with adrenaline as I unfolded it.

Did you know time in Hell is slower? So, we’ve waited two weeks before the seer said it was time. You missy don’t follow directions well. That makes two of us, though, so I’m not complaining. Anton does, however, expect an earful from him. He’s an old grump.

Marnie is still with us in Norway. She’s being a pain in my ass. She’s a city girl through and through. She’d like me to tell you that she is suffering through all this Earthy shit—her words—for you. I guess we all must do stuff we don’t like in war.

Any who, I’ve got good news, we managed to kill two more Sins, Greed Gluttony and Envy. So, our part is practically done. I’m not sure when exactly you are getting this message, so I won’t add anything else.

All I know is, I need a damn vacation as I’m sure you understand. I wish I could tell you we are going to get what we want if we make it out of this, but who knows. I say we take our vacay. Just not in Hell. That place sucks. I wish you the best of luck. Thanks again for giving me your clothes during the Demon Trials, you saved my life.

Good luck

I smiled. I wished they could help in this battle, but they did their part. We were one step closer to beating Lucifer. I told the others. It was exactly what we needed, some good news.

My demon held back my emotions for me, so I could focus on the battle ahead. The moment had finally come. I strapped on my discreetly placed weapons and drank the smoothie my mates demanded I drank. Before we left, I went back in the room to kiss Kain’s forehead. My heart ached, begging him to get up, to get just get up and come with us.

I pressed my lips to his ear. “Please, let that dream have been real. You promised to come back to me, and demons must keep their promises.” My voice was barely a whisper, but I prayed to Goddess Nyx to help him.

I turned, sending confidence through our bonds, and sauntered out to my mates. All their eyes went to me as I approached. “Let’s go kill us Lucifer Fucking Morningstar.”
