Epilogue

Thatched huts, a windswept ocean beachfront with white sand, palm trees swaying in the gentle breeze. Blue-green waters where sailboats and yachts cruised in the distance—St. Lucia. Their honeymoon. Jessica was lying on a lounge chair next to a clear-blue swimming pool, just like in her dream.

And then there he was, wearing a skimpy-ass bathing suit, coming out of the pool.

Paul .

This time, no alarm clock intruded when he came over to her chair. She sat up, and they embraced. Jessica felt lost yet found in his arms, the perfect place to be.

And this time, the dream would not end.

This was only the beginning.

Luxuriously, she rolled over onto her stomach and checked a text that had just pinged in. Work-life balance was one thing, but she still had to be connected at least a little. Reading the text, she couldn’t help but throw back her head and laugh.

Jessica, you’re simply splendid, and we love love love the idea of the Persian rug you suggested for the den. But we just can’t decide whether we want it in purple tones or gold. Let’s talk when you get the chance. Thx—Miles and Ed.

She would reply when she was home. But right now, she had much better things to do. She kissed her new husband. Like one of her interior designs, she had created a space in her heart for Paul and he fit in perfectly. Now, her heart felt wondrous, every square inch full of beauty and love and warmth.
