49. Galentine’s Day

galentine’s day

Selah

Manhattan, NY | February 17th, 2024

“What did you and Rome do for Valentine’s Day?” Daya asks Audrey.

She just took a big gulp of her cocktail and raised her finger to ask for a moment to swallow her drink.

“We had sex—on my jet, so we joined the mile-high club. It had never occurred to me that, after all this time, we hadn’t done that. Then again, y’all know how I am about planes. So, he tried a different approach to calm my nerves and it worked,” she adds, wiggling her brows.

“That’s it?” we ask collectively.

“Oh, y’all wanted romance. Why didn’t you say so? He took me to a lodge in the Poconos and we had more sex. Y’all know how I feel about seclusion. That’s the best gift for me. It was so beautiful and quiet. I even got to take naps and we had the best view. He planned it well because I didn’t suspect a thing.”

We’re all heart-eyed listening to her gush about her literal book boyfriend in real life. It’s so special to see your friends being loved out loud and properly. I knew Rome wouldn’t disappoint on Valentine’s Day. He never does. He makes us all believe there’s hope out there for the rest of us hapless in love ladies.

“What about you?” Chess asks, shifting everyone’s focus to me.

“I know this’ll be hard to believe but I, Selah Bailey, asked a man on a date.”

“I’m sure it was very indirect and you talked about it like it was a business meeting instead,” Audrey chides.

“Damn it. I hate that you know me so well,” I chuckle. “We had an indoor picnic at my place. I wanted to try my hand at doing something romantic while checking something off my list. I ordered takeout from a new spot because Grey is a foodie and I wanted to keep challenging myself to be adventurous with food. We loved it.” I pause to sip my wine and they all stare expectantly.

“We played the question game, as we often do and got more personal with each other. He even asked me about the sex tasks on my list about kink and recreating scenes from books. He let me discuss it freely with him and I appreciated that. He recommended reading material on kink and BDSM. He wants me to be well informed before he agrees to act out any of my fantasies.”

The girls are staring at each other knowingly and that worries me a bit. They’re going to start up again about how they think Greyson is the one for me, but I told them we’re just having a good time.

Chess pipes up, “Oh, he’s a good dom. I just felt myself start to drool a little bit. I’m sorry. You mentioned he’s got a brother. Just one? What about that friend of his?”

“Alex? He’s really good looking and single. I don’t know about him being anything like Grey though.”

“Keep an eye out and let me know what you do find,” she suggests.

I give her a nod.

“So, I know y’all talked about it, but did you get some?” Audrey asks .

“I did,” I say proudly. “Then he held me until I fell asleep in his arms. He respected my ‘ no sleepovers ’ rule though and didn’t stay the night. Though I’ll admit when I woke up and he wasn’t there, I missed his warmth. What does that mean?”

She sits closer and holds me to her side. “Girl, it means you like him. More than you’re telling yourself you do. That man isn’t just ‘neighborly’ as you keep saying and you know it.”

Maybe she’s right. It was the first night I’ve had a man in my bed since I left my ex and I felt safe with him there. I didn’t have any trouble sleeping either, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to get attached to him in that way. This is why rules are a good idea. Without them, things can get confusing.

Chess changes the subject, releasing me from my thoughts. “Now, Daya, did you have an orgasm on Valentine’s?”

“I had a great night with my audio erotica boyfriends. Does that count?”

“It sure fucking does, babe. Let’s hear about it.”
