Chapter 29

Chapter Twenty-Nine

EVO

It takes everything I have to let her walk away. I catch myself turning towards the refreshing chamber as I picture her standing in the Ionizer naked. I’ve had my hands all over her, but not in the way I crave. The thought of the things I would love to do to her has my shaft hardening and I make myself walk towards the replicator.

I asked Ember earlier to pre-set some of her favorite options into it, hoping that Qwin would also enjoy a small taste of home. Frack , my mind is so focused on getting her out of her garments. I forgot to inquire about getting her some for when she exited the cleanser.

“ Destroyer , would you please deliver Qwin one of my softer lounge shirts? Then connect me to Ember .”

“ Confirmed .”

I hear Ember’s laughter just as the holo comm comes on. “ Hey , cap whatcha need?”

“ Garments .”

She looks at me oddly for a second before holding a finger up for me to wait a moment. I can hear her talking to ViN . “ Would you behave for a second? I am trying to talk to your brother. Sorry EvO , I don’t understand what you need, you have plenty of clothes. You better make this quick, your brother is not going to wait much longer.”

“ This isn’t about me, Qwin needs garments, Ember . She mentioned something called panties.”

ViN pops up on the screen behind Ember and by her giggles, he is not keeping his hands to himself. “ Oh , brother, you will come to love those little pieces of scrap they use to cover their treasures from us.”

“ ViN behave, Lord , help me. Ohh , yeah, yeah EvO . Sorry , my mind was otherwise occupied. I would lend her some of mine, but we are not even close in size. My shirts would be too tight and pants too long. Qwin is tiny, but she is a busty little thing. I’ll see how quickly the Destroyer’s clothing replicator can make her something, but it will need her measurements. Can you get those?”

“ Send me the instructions.”

ViN winks at me just before the screen goes blank. Just as Qwin is walking out of the refreshing chamber the instructions show up on my holo comm. “ Destroyer , put these on the main viewer.”

I try not to stare at Qwin’s bare legs as she walks towards me, but I can’t help from peeking out of the corner of my eye. The moving outline of a body twirling in the air in front of me has me intrigued. Especially now that I see where and how I am supposed to get these measurements.

“ What is this?”

“ I was talking to Ember about getting you some more appropriate garments when she informed me that the replicator needed your measurements.”

“ Oh , odd, but ok. It isn’t like we can stroll down to the local mall to try some clothes on, so this makes sense. This shirt is super comfy though, and it smells like you. So , you can’t have it back. It’s my new favorite, but I don’t want to go traipsing around the ship in just this either.”

I grab her around the waist, bringing her eye level before realizing I’ve even touched her. My first instinct is to growl out something like I dare you, or mine , but I don’t believe my Qwin will respond well to that. Instead , I fight my own instincts and calmly say. “ I would prefer you not.” My hand runs down her leg and my mind has a hard time comprehending how soft she is. Reluctantly , when I hear the replicator beep, I sit her back on her feet.

“ Our sustenance is done, when we finish eating we’ll take your measurements and then retire for a short time until the next pods are opening.”

“ I’m starving, so that sounds great, hopefully, I won’t fall asleep at the table eating. I can barely hold my eyes open.”

As I grab our plates out of the replicator, I motion for her to sit. The fatigue is apparent on her face, as her normal smile seems strained. When I first place the dish in front of her she frowns, and I can’t say I blame her as the object looks odd even to me.

“ If this is not to your liking, we will make something else Qwin .”

“ It doesn’t smell bad; the colors are just off.”

I watch as she takes a hesitant bite. Then my heart jumps when she smiles up at me.

“ It has the texture of Play - Doh , but the taste is rather pleasant. Eat EvO , I know you must be hungry as well.”

“ You don’t require anything else?”

“ I’m fine, relax for a moment.”

I can’t even recall what I had made for myself, nor the taste, as all my senses are focused on Qwin . The moment she lays down the utensil. I am up, gathering her in my arms, and heading for the bed. Laying Qwin down, I try not to stare at her lovely legs as I pull the blankets up over her.

She runs her tiny fingers over the top one. “ Oh , this is quite beautiful, EvO , where did you get it?”

“ Kira made it for me as a gift for one of your human holidays. I believe we all received one at the time. It was greatly appreciated, as few of us had many comforts before. I have issued them throughout the ship and I believe all have been slumbering better since.”

“ Kira is your father’s… mate, wife, girlfriend? Not sure of her title.”

“ She is his mate. She is the one who introduced us to several of your human customs. Your world was quite endearing and I hate that it was lost. However , I am not sad that it sent you to me.”

She blushes adorably again and if it had not been instantly followed by a yawn. I would have tried to do that human kiss again. The blank body is still twirling slowly on the main viewer, and I reach over to deactivate it.

“ Crap , you need my measurement don’t ya? Help me up.” She reaches her hand up and I kiss the tender skin before placing it under the covers.

“ We can do it after you rest. Would you like me to black out the viewer above?”

“ No , I like the twinkling of the stars, it reminds me of home. Are you not lying down? You have to be just as tired as I am.”

“ I was going to recline in one of the loungers until later when the Destroyer notified me that I’m needed at the dock.”

I’m shocked when she lifts the covers and pats the bed beside her. “ No , you are not, this bed is big enough for ten.”

“ Are you sure?”

“ I am not going to force you, but I would sleep better if you were near.”

“ Let me get cleaned up and into something more comfortable, I’ll be back momentarily.”

Turning , I rush towards the refresher. Tearing my casual uniform off as I jump into the Ionizer , thankful for once at its fast efficiency. Grabbing a pair of loose pants out of a drawer. I yank them on, practically falling on my face when I trip because my toe gets caught in a torn seam. Only a few ticks later, I exit the room only to find that Qwin is sound asleep.

Crawling in beside her. I reach over, gathering her close with one arm while lying on my back. A frown appears on her face until she turns, throwing one of her small legs over mine. Her head now rests on my shoulder while her tiny hand lies lightly over my heart. Instinctively , I nuzzle her hair, enjoying her unique scent. The light of a passing comet highlights the dark brown and red strands that have merged together in the long wavy strips resting along my arm.

Tracing the arm lying on my chest, I look up at the stars, trying to see them through her eyes. Rubbing my hand across my face, I flinch when it hits the cut that is still healing on my forehead. My mind drifting back to everything that has occurred in the last risings. Like the fact that I am now lying in my bed, with my mate resting peacefully in my arms. The moment this reality hits me I instantly send up a grateful prayer to the Lord of Light for granting me such a bountiful blessing.

I must have been more fatigued than I thought because I jerk when I hear my comm unit going off next to the bed. It feels like I’ve just closed my eyes, yet when I check the number of ticks that have passed. I realize I’ve been asleep for quite some time. I hit the comm, turning down the sound before initiating it. “ Report .”

“ Look who is lying around in his quarters like he is the Captain or something.”

“ What is it, Rafe ?”

“ Just informing you that the next set of pods will be opening soon, but I can see you’re busy.”

“ I’ll be there in a little bit.”

“ Don’t worry about it. This last set is not opening as quickly as the others did. I believe LeX and I can handle it, take the remainder of the rotation off.”

“ It’s nice of you to give me permission to take time off, but I will allow your arrogance this time. I fear Qwin and I both are in desperate need of some rest. I thought you were helping with the last group?”

“ Negative , I pulled out and sent a few others in my spot.”

“ Why ?”

“ I am hoping this next set will be friendlier. I am seeing a side of these humans I’ve not seen before. Frack , several of the males have hair on their face instead of their heads, that’s just odd. I even witnessed some of the females being mean and aggressive. I was not prepared for this.”

I can’t help but laugh at the expression on Rafe’s face. Unless it’s an emergency, I’ll see you next rising. Before he can say anything else, I quickly click the button off. When I turn back over, I find Qwin’s beautiful amber eyes staring up at me.

“ Is everything ok?”

“ They can handle it, if not, they will comm again. Come here, I was enjoying holding you in my arms. I don’t think I have ever rested this well in the past.” I am granted another one of her smiles before I tuck her head under my chin, our legs tangling together comfortably. Her cold nose pushes against my neck and I hug her gently as sleep quickly pulls up both back under.
