It’s been a couple of days since I had to operate on Niccolo. I was barely coming to terms with it all, especially after declaring that I loved him. Everything feels like an out-of-body experience, but I wouldn’t change a thing if it meant saving Niccolo’s life.
So, when Niccolo called me to Dario’s room, I thought I was going to fix some stitches, get after him for straining himself, or walk in for some sexy time. Oh, how I wish any of those were why they called me to the room. But my heart sank when they said Nash was kidnapped. After our mother died and our father was, and still is, a fucking bigot, son of a bitch, we got so close. But when I returned from college and decided to do my residency here, he moved away for college and we lost touch along the way. We still talk occasionally; I was there when he got drafted and I am so proud of everything he does. I just can’t imagine losing him. I hope they find him soon, because I’ll be a shell of myself if I don’t see him again.
I walk down the hallway to the kitchen when I spot Sonny on the couch, looking despondent. Maybe Sonny can help comfort me and see if we can go back to our apartment for a sweatshirt that my brother gave to me.
“Hey, S. Are you okay?” I ask hesitantly. He brings me into his arms, kissing the top of my head. He is already making me feel better.
“Hi, Low. I just found out that I have an older brother. Alejandro. If there’s one thing my father was great at, it was keeping secrets,” he discloses. I start tearing up, thinking of my own brother.
“What’s wrong, baby?” he asks, shifting in position on the couch to face me with a look of concern.
“You just gained a brother and I’m so happy for you, especially since you know him, Sonny. But I can’t help but think about mine. Dario and Niccolo told me last night that my brother and his girlfriend were kidnapped. He’s in a polyamorous relationship like us, and one of his girlfriend’s boyfriends knows Dario and Niccolo. I’m so sorry to ruin your happy news, but you know Nash. I just needed you,” I cry, feeling stupid for ruining this moment as I bury my face in his chest.
“Don’t worry about that, baby. We can talk about my life later. I’m here for you. What do you need?” He rubs my back up and down, lulling me to calm down.
“I just need you to hold me,” I plead, clinging onto him tighter.
“Then, you have me. Always. Forever. Until the end of time,” he says. I love him so much for being here when he just found out the news of a lifetime.
“Do you mind going with me to the apartment to get one of Nash’s sweatshirts?
“Sure, we can go. I need to gather some files to check out so I can send them to the assistant district attorney. We need to tell the guys or Catalina to take us, though. Remember, we’re still in a semi-lockdown?” he adds, reminding me that Andrei is still out to get back at the guys.
“Sounds like a plan. Let’s go wake Catalina. She slept with you last night, huh?” I tease, dragging him to Catalina’s room.
“Shut up. But yes, let’s go jump her bones.”
Maybe we can get a quickie in before we go to our apartment for extra clothes and some of Sonny’s files. I’m so proud of him for delegating his work; he seems more happy, especially now that he’s found out that he has a brother.
