EPILOGUE-CAMRYN

S now was falling in earnest, blanketing the outside world in white. It came late this year, but with Christmas a week away, I was fine with that.

In fact, I was better than fine. I was all comfy and cozy, nestled right in the middle of the enormous bed I shared with the love of my life, my very own Shadow Man.

The mask Tommy wore the first night we met— Halloween night —was carelessly draped across the nightstand next to the sexy lace teddy I’d worn for him last night.

Yes, we were both into dressing up for each other sometimes.

I bit my lip, thinking about last night, how sexy and potent my Tommy had been.

Then I glanced at the glittering ring on my finger and my heart pounded so hard, I thought it might leap right out of my chest.

His light brown eyes had mirrored a swirl of emotions—tenderness, desire, anticipation, and something deeper, something I knew was love, when he proposed last night.

“What are you thinking about?” he asked, stepping back into the room with a tray of goodies in his hands.

I sat up, grinning at him as he stalked over to me, dropping a kiss on my mouth as he placed the tray on the bed.

Tommy was my every dream of a man come true. He never tried to change me or my habits, and just genuinely seemed to enjoy life with me. What more could I ask for?

“Just thinking about you,” I replied, and fed him a strawberry dipped in chocolate from the plate he made us.

“Mm. Good thoughts?” he asked and grinned.

“The best,” I said, and allowed him to return the favor.

I chewed slowly, just taking him in as the dim light of the room cast soft shadows across his almost too-handsome face.

He was just so damn fine. My eyes traced his tattoos, and I sighed. The artwork was superb, but it was Tommy who held an ethereal quality that had captivated me from the start.

He stole my breath every time I saw him.

Jan thought we were crazy, but Buck, who was becoming one of my favorite people, reminded her how fast it happened for them.

Some people were just blessed with instant love, and for the life of me, I couldn’t fathom how I got so lucky.

Good thing Tommy promised to stick around for a lifetime or two until we puzzled it out.

“I love you,” I said suddenly.

Tommy froze in the act of dipping another juicy berry into the smooth dark chocolate he’d melted for us.

His expression was a mixture of devotion and excitement, the kind that made his eyes shimmer and the corners of his mouth twitch in anticipation.

God, I loved his mouth. Loved the way he leaned slightly forward, as if drawn to me by an invisible thread.

A buzz of eagerness pulsed through me, just beneath the surface.

As if he could sense it, Tommy’s brows furrowed ever so slightly, giving him a sweet earnestness that softened all the rough edges of his desire.

But best of all was the spark in his gaze. That glint that spoke of dreams unfolding and possibilities blooming.

It was the kind of look that made it clear to me he was wholly invested in this, in us. It all happened so fast, it seemed crazy. Especially to others who asked how we met.

But he and I, well, we knew better than to question it. Tommy’s gaze heated and his chest rumbled with that sexy growl I adored.

“I love you too, Vixen. Now, lay back,” he commanded, and heat pooled between my thighs.

I loved it when my man got all growly and demanding. Even better, I loved submitting to him. I felt so alive.

So free.

So safe.

So sexy whenever my Shadow Man came out to play.

He moved like a dream, sliding the tray onto the table and grabbing his mask. I had one minute to look at him before he slipped it over his face.

His chest expanded as he sucked in a breath before pressing a button that plunged our bedroom into complete darkness.

I heard him press another button, and I gasped as his skeleton face lit up under a brand new black light shining from the ceiling.

“W-when?” I asked, moaning as his rough hands found me.

“When you were at your agent’s office yesterday,” he explained.

“Now, no more talking, Vixen. Get on your knees,” he growled.

The gears in my brain were sluggish under the weight of my desire, but they started turning the second he issued his command. Eager to obey my masked lover, I turned and got on my knees, moaning as he pressed his weight against me.

Then I felt it. His latex covered head prodded my slick entrance.

“Tell me what you want, or this is all you get,” Shadow Man growled, feeding just the tip of his monster cock into my greedy pussy.

“I want you to fuck me, Shadow Man. Make me come,” I begged.

“Anything my Vixen wants,” he promised, pushing all the way in with one hard thrust.

The power of speech left us both for a while then, and it wasn’t until much later, after we were sated and catching our breaths that we spoke again.

“Magic,” I said, and rubbed my lips against his shoulder.

“Hmm?”

“Remember when you said we were magic?”

“I do,” he murmured.

“Do you still feel that way?”

“You know I do,” he said, more earnestly now.

“I think you’re right, Shadow Man. I think we are.”

“I love you, Vixen. With every inch of my soul,” he said, and I heard the smile in his voice as my gaze rested on his now discarded mask, still grinning at us under the black light.

“I love you, too.”

Tommy took my hand in his, intertwining our fingers and snuggling me close to his heavenly body.

I could feel the energy, the magic , between us crackling like static electricity or a thousand little lightning bolts. It was always this way with him. And it only made me love him more.

“I’m so glad you took a chance on us, Baby. We are gonna make this magic last,” he said, his voice low and sincere.

“This is our adventure. Ours together. No holding back,” I vowed and meant it.

We held one another in bed, our hearts beating in sync, and I knew that this was just the beginning of our story.

Never again would I allow my insecurities to stop me from living. The night I met Tommy, he’d dared me to dive into this adventure with him. And miracle of miracles, I accepted his challenge.

He was right. We belonged together.

Tommy and I were destiny.

We made our own magic, and our future looked good.

Hell, it looked perfect, and I couldn’t wait to see where it would lead us.

I’d fully embraced my Halloween fantasy romance with this man. It was ours now. Ours to nurture and grow and keep safe.

“Tommy?”

“Yeah, Baby?”

“You ever get mad that I tricked you that night?”

“Tricked me?”

“Yeah, I mean, you didn’t know I was a virgin then.”

“No, Baby,” he murmured, kissing my head. “I wasn’t mad then or now. Your trick turned out to be the biggest treat of my life. You’re mine now, Camryn. Only mine. And I am never letting you go.”

I smiled in the darkness, pulling Tommy’s face towards mine so I could kiss him. God, I loved this man. Red flags and all.

He was made for me, and yeah, I knew I was made for him, too.

Sometimes all it took was a spark of recognition to start something big. Something wild and uncontrollable. And sometimes, you had to believe in magic to find that spark.

The end.
