I watch as Aiden rushes after Braiden. I wished for the toddler years to come quickly because I was so excited to see him up and walking. But now it’s here, I take it back. Because with the walking, comes tantrums. Real tantrums that are like no other, and as Aiden sweeps our eighteen-month-old son into his arms, another one hits, and he looks over to me with helplessness. I laugh, “I have no idea,” I say, gently rubbing my hand over my swollen stomach. In less than two weeks, we’ll be a family of four. And this time around, feels extra special because Aiden has been a part of it. He’s been to every scan, every appointment and even signed us up to antenatal classes because he’s determined to be the best birthing partner. It’s a real testament to how much we’ve both grown as parents, and as husband and wife.

We couldn’t be happier.

And with all the businesses running well, it’s given us a chance to enjoy Braiden. We have more time for each other, and running The Dog and Sheep is fun, it doesn’t feel like work when we’re surrounded by the locals who have become our friends.

In the beginning, we might have got it all wrong, but we’re getting it right now, and that’s all that matters. With our future mapped out, I have no regrets.

Well, maybe just one . . . that it took us so long to sort our shit out.
