CHAPTER NINE

SILVER

T oday was a long day, and the sad thing is, I didn’t do much. Kane took me to the library, and I found some old books that I wanted to read.

I still don’t know much about magic or my powers, and Kane confessed that Luke has been putting a suppressant potion in my breakfast.

I know I should be mad, but I’m not. I told him the night I supposedly ascended scared me. It’s better this way. I also learned that Hell runs on a different time schedule then back home.

Almost two months have passed, and I didn’t even know. It’s only been a few days here. I don’t think I will ever get used to my new reality.

I leave Luke in the bedroom, he's typing on his laptop, doing some work or something. Honestly I didn't bother to ask.

He's been snippy with me since yesterday, and I'm not sure why.

As I enter the bathroom, I smile. I am about to make that bathtub my bitch. I still can't believe how large it is.

Walking toward it, I press the button on the wall to start the water. Luke showed me how to do it the other day, and I am totally going to take advantage of the waterfall feature too.

As the tub begins to fill, I dump some bath salts and bubbles into the mix. The scent of lemongrass and coconut surrounds me, and I sigh.

I have been stressed with all the wedding planning that's been going on.

Once the water is hot enough, I strip off the lingerie that Layna laid out for me today and step into the steaming liquid, sighing.

Relaxing against the giant pillow, suctioned to one end of the bath, I lean back and close my eyes.

The water runs over my heated flesh, turning me on. It’s like I can feel someone touching me, kissing me. I moan softly, hearing a voice that I know.

“I love you, Princess,” Donnie whispers against my mouth, then pulls away and stares at me.

Opening my eyes, I freeze. I look around, but I’m alone. That was too weird. I must have drifted off, since the waterfall is no longer on and the water has turned cool.

I guess I was more tired than I thought. Being bored is exhausting, or maybe I'm depressed.

Pushing the stopper, I release the water and climb out. I wish I knew a spell to dry myself off. Maybe I'll ask Kane to see if he could teach me one.

Thinking back to that fantasy has my stomach twisting.

That felt so real! Every kiss, every touch. Closing my eyes, I relive the way Donnie touched me.

No. Silver. Bad!

Scolding myself, I grab a towel and rub it quickly over my soaking wet body, ignoring how my nipples are tingling, begging for attention.

Dropping it to the floor, I enter the bedroom and gently pull off the blanket on the bed.

Luke is asleep now, wearing boxers, and I really want him. I feel as if Kane is fucking with my lust again.

I'm burning up inside, and I'm so wet, it's dripping down my thighs.

Climbing onto the bed, I straddle him and bend over so I can kiss his neck.

“Mmm,” he groans in his sleep.

I can feel his cock getting hard and I whimper. I can't stop myself from grinding down onto him.

“Little Devil, not that I don't like being woken up like this, but what are you doing?” Luke mumbles, and I sigh when he reaches and grips my hips tightly.

“Please, Luke. I need you. I ache, and only you can make it go away. I want you to destroy my pussy in any way you choose.”

I moan like a cat in heat and practically purr when Luke sits up, pressing me harder against his erection.

“Little Devil, you know we can't. Just a few more days until we are wed,” he says softly and I groan. This time with annoyance.

“Why? Why won't you fuck me? Is this part of the tradition?” I huff and he laughs, lifting me and placing me next to him on the bed.

Shaking his head he smiles.

“Call me old fashioned, but I want to wait until our wedding night,” he says, then leans and places a kiss onto my pout.

Yeah, I'm totally pouting right now. He has a monster cock and won't share. It's not fair.

Rolling my eyes, I huff.

“Don't try and claim that you're innocent, Luke. I know you're not a virgin.”

Placing his hand on my cheek, he makes me look at him.

“They weren't you, Silver. They meant nothing to me. You are going to be my wife, my queen. You're my soul mate, Silver Forest, and I won't fuck you like one of those demon whores.”

My heart aches, but I lean forward and kiss Luke. I think I’m falling for him.

“Good morning, Little Devil,” Luke whispers into my ear, and I groan. I don't want to wake up yet.

I tossed and turned all night. My body still ached from the tease of my fantasy, and I couldn't settle until the early hours of the morning.

Today's going to fucking suck. I have to attend dress fittings and etiquette lessons, and other shit that I just don't want to do.

“No,” I grumble and Luke laughs. The blanket is ripped from me and he smacks my ass, making me moan.

That's not helping, Sir!

“I have to leave for a few hours and deal with some transients that have decided to start a war, but I would like to spend some time with you before I go. So get that cute ass up and have breakfast with me. I won't even make you leave the bed.”

Oh, well, that got my attention. Peeking my eyes open, I notice Luke standing next to the bed with a floating tray.

My stomach growls, and I sigh, rolling over.

“Fine, you may feed me,” I say with a wave, and Luke snorts. My eyes widen and so does his.

I don't think I have ever heard such a noise from the King of Hell before.

“What are you doing to me, Little Devil?” he mumbles and hands me the tray as I sit up against the pillows.

Seriously, this bed is what dreams are made of.

We could fit an entire football team in with us and still have room. Well, maybe not the whole team, but at least half.

Shrugging, I remove the dome and groan at the sight before me. Eggs Benedict, crispy potatoes, bacon, and fresh fruit.

Damn, now, this I could get used to.

Luke sits beside me and I allow him to feed me. I don’t know why he insists on doing this, but I’m not complaining.

“So this war, is it something I need to worry about?” I ask him when he decides to eat too.

“No, just someone who’s upset about me marrying an unknown. They will settle once we are wed and you’re crowned. I’ve been keeping you under lock and key, so to speak, so people are just concerned.”

I nod, that makes sense. “I have my dress fitting today, and Kane wanted to teach me some magic,” I mumble, ignoring the way my hands shake slightly.

“Little Devil, you will be fine. Kane is a great teacher, and I know he will take good care of you in my absence.”

Lifting the fork to my lips once more, I let him finish feeding me until Thimon barges in and tells him it’s time to leave.

“Have a good day, my bride,” he mumbles and presses a quick kiss onto my lips.

When they are both gone, I glance at the clock and grumble. I know he wanted to spend time with me, but it’s not even six in the morning yet.

Making a decision, I move the tray onto his desk, then climb back into bed, grab the remote and turn something mindless on while I take a nap.

“Wow, you look incredible,” Layna mutters as I walk out of the makeshift dressing room in my ‘wedding dress’, if you could call it that.

Seriously, I look like I’m about to walk onto a stage and do a little dance.

“You don’t think it’s a little much? I know that my wardrobe has been different here, but a lot of people will be coming to this event. Shouldn’t I at least wear shorts instead of this lace G-string?”

Layna, Merida, and the dressmaker look at each other, and I can tell they are confused. “Mistress, if you do not like the dress, I can make you another one,” the dressmaker says, and I frown.

“No, it’s lovely. I’m just not used to showing so much skin around other people. You have to remember, I was raised human. We tend to be more… modest… I guess.” Shrugging, she smiles and takes my hand.

“You will be the most glorious bride for our Master. Everyone is so excited about this event. Master has given us a half day so we may all attend,” she gushes, and I have to smile.

Luke may be evil incarnate, but he does have a good heart at times.

“Carla, if Silver wishes to add some more coverage, I’m sure we can accommodate her. Maybe a little lace overlay would work?” Merida asks, finally revealing the dressmaker's name to me, and coming to my rescue.

I’m becoming quite fond of the woman. Not only does she let me take over her kitchen when I need to stress bake, she’s kind in a world full of evil.

Carla steps back and gives me a thorough once over, then claps.

“Yes, that will make this even more enchanting,” she mutters. Carla snaps her fingers and I’m instantly nude, as she’s just conjured my dress from my body. Squeaking, I try to cover myself the best I can, and Merida bites her lips to keep from laughing as Carla runs from the room to get to work.

Layna rushes to hand me a satin robe, and I quickly put it on.

“I am never going to feel comfortable being nude,” I mutter, and Merida nods.

“It will take time, but in a few centuries, you won’t even bat an eye.”

“I don’t know about this, Kane,” I mutter as he leads me deeper into the basement. It’s blistering hot in here, and I’m not liking the look of that padded room he’s walking toward.

“Love, you need to practice your magic. I know it’s a new and scary thing, but it’s a part of you, and Luke needs to know that you can fight if it ever comes down to it.”

I stop walking and put my hands on my hips. “He told me that this war wasn’t a huge deal. More fucking lies,” I grumble. I’m about to turn around and stomp back toward his office, but Kane stops me.

“No, this pesky war is child's play. Luke will take care of it and return home. I’m talking about full on revolts against us.” He waves his hand as if this is no big deal, and though I’m hesitant to believe him, I do feel a sense of relief.

“Okay, but I still don’t want to use my powers,” I grumble and he laughs, holding out his hand for me to take.

“You will be magnificent, Silver. How could you not be with me as your teacher?”

Ha! Famous last words there, if I’ve ever heard them.

Kane smiles and drags me into the room, slamming the door. There is low lighting, and I’m assuming all the padding is to prevent any damage from spells gone awry. Still, that doesn’t make me feel very confident.

“Have you read Elena’s journal lately?” Kane asks, pulling me out of my upcoming panic attack. I nod and sigh.

“Not much, but some. I don’t understand why her entries are so dark. She ascended like I did, but she seems so twisted, and what she did to Peter… I know I was offered the same thing with Wellson, but still, how could she have done that to save herself?”

“Because, you, Silver Forest, are nothing like your ancestors. You may have accepted Lukes offer, but you are not malicious, tainted, or evil. I still sense good within you, and like I said before, don’t ever lose it.”

Kane moves closer to me and wipes a tear from my cheek that I didn’t notice had fallen. He stares into my eyes and rests his hand on my chin. I know what he’s about to do, and I’ll be honest, I don’t stop him when he presses his lips to mine, but I know it’s wrong.

I gently push him away and he blinks for a moment, licking my taste from his lips, then sighs.

“We shouldn’t have done that. I apologize, love.”

He walks away and takes a few deep breaths. His eyes are glowing red, and it looks like he’s fighting to control himself.

“I know you belong to Luke, but there is just something about you that draws me in. I have never felt this way about someone, but still, I am a man of honor… Well, as much as I can be, being a sex demon, that is.” He shoots me a wink, and I giggle.

“No more kisses. I will be professional and teach you about your magic,” he continues as he takes a seat in the middle of the room. “Now, I need you to sit and close your eyes. Take some deep breaths and clear your mind.”

I follow his instructions and try to not think, but I can't. He kissed me, and I kissed him back. Does that make me a cheater now? Before with Donnie and Wells, they shared me, but Luke seems possessive.

Fuck, am I a homewrecker? Is he not going to want to marry me now?

“I can feel you thinking, Silver. Take some deep breaths and try to concentrate. I will talk to Luke after our lesson and confess what I did. Everything will be fine.”

I take some deep breaths, and try to pay attention, but it’s hard. I know that kissing Kane is wrong, but he’s right. There is a connection between us. It’s been growing stronger every time we hang out.

“Okay, I need you to search for the light inside of yourself. Once you find it, I want you to picture it in a fluid manner as it swirls and moves. Then I want you to grab it, but don’t speak out loud. I want you to command it to do something small.”

It takes me a few minutes, and I’m about to tell him that he’s crazy, but then I see it. It’s a light purple, but shadowed with black. I picture it like liquid paint, flowing all over my body.

I don’t know what I’m supposed to tell my magic to do… My stomach grumbles, and all I can think about is the blueberry muffins I made the morning I met the guys.

Kane laughs and I open my eyes. “Oh, wow!” I gasp. The whole room is full of baskets of muffins. “Are they edible?” I ask with a moan. It smells incredible in here right now, almost masking the fire and ash aroma.

“They won’t poison you, if that’s what you’re asking,” Kane says, standing and walking over to one of the baskets. “When I suggested you conjure something, I was thinking something small. This will feed the whole wedding reception,” he mumbles, then runs his hand over his scruff.

“Okay, well, that wasn’t so scary, but I’m done for now. I need to see Luke.”

I don’t wait for Kane. I stand, open the door, and go in search of my fiance, praying that he’s in a forgiving mood.

When I reach his office, I’m shocked to see Kane sitting there behind his desk.

“Next lesson, I will be teaching you how to portal places. Luke still isn’t back, and I told you, Silver, that I would talk to him.”

“Talk to me about what?” Luke asks from behind me and I jump. I turn to face him, but before I can say anything, Kane speaks.

“I kissed Silver, and she’s upset, thinking she cheated on you,” he mutters, and my eyes go wide. He sounds so nonchalant about it. I don’t know how demons react about relationships and sex, but before the guys, I was always monogamous. Not to mention, I’m about to marry the King of Hell.

Luke moves closer to me and surprises me by grabbing the back of my neck and pulling me into a really hot kiss.

“Umm,” I mumble and he laughs, then turns to face his cousin.

“No sex. She’s only having my heir,” he says, and I think my jaw is literally on the floor.

I’m sorry, what?

“Deal,” Kane agrees, as if I am not in the room too. “How did the meeting go? You seem relatively clean, so I’m assuming no beheadings took place.”

“Sire, we need to go over the guest list for the wedding. We still haven’t gotten a reply back from Donovan Blake… Oh, I’m sorry. I’ll come back,” Thimon says, walking into the room and then exiting as if he didn’t just rip a shred into my heart.

Ignoring the conversation that we really need to have, I take Luke’s hand and pull his attention to me.

“Why did you invite Donnie, Luke? You won in the end, are you really so cruel as to rub our marriage in his face?” I realize what I just said and snort, shaking my head.

Turning, I leave his office and walk to my room. I’m so fucking stupid.

I got caught up in the way he’s been treating me. I can’t believe I thought that the Devil would love me.

I’m a fool, but at least I saved Wellson’s life in the end. As long as he breathes, I’ll continue to do anything and everything, even if it means I’m destined for an existence of misery and mindfuckery.

LUKE

I fucked up, and for once in my existence, I’m starting to feel regret. I don’t know what my Little Devil is doing to me, but I’m changing. It’s almost as if she awoke my cold, dead heart, reviving it.

I laugh more, I smile, and she even has me being nice to my staff.

Kane and I watch as Silver storms out of my office and stomps down the hall to our room.

“Shit,” Kane mutters and I grunt in solidarity. Turning to my cousin, I cross my arms and raise an eyebrow.

“Is there a reason you’re in my chair?” I ask, and he hops up like his ass is on fire.

“Sorry, I was trying to beat Silver here to calm her down. I didn’t mean to kiss her like that, but there is just something so magnetizing about that girl,” he says and shakes his head.

“Yeah, I know what you mean. I don’t care what you guys do, but I am serious about the sex. Until Silver is round with my child, you will not breed her,” I say with a bite to my tone, and he nods, offering me his hand, so we may shake and make a magical pact.

“Good, now that we have an understanding, I need your help with something,” I say before moving toward my desk and taking my rightful seat.

Kane takes the couch and leans forward, all ears. He conjures a notebook and I laugh, shocking him.

Wiping my mouth and pretending to cough, I clear my throat and begin.

“Donovan Blake is going to be a problem. I could wring Thimon’s neck for announcing his non-attendance to Silver, but it happened and I’m moving on. Now I need to fix the fucking mess he’s made with my fiancee.”

Kane snorts and bites his bottom lip to hide his smile. I know exactly what he’s thinking.

Who the fuck am I?

“Why did you invite the men that she left behind? Is it revenge? A way to rub your relationship in their faces?” he asks and I sigh.

“Yeah,” I confess, then feel like an idiot. “What is this woman doing to me? I’m fucking Lucifer, for Hell’s sake. I will rip your spine out of your neck with a wave of my hand for not following orders. I am not some petty school boy, but the fact of the matter is that Silver is only with me because I gave her an ultimatum. She loved those boys. I’m a consolation prize.”

A gasp at the door pulls my attention to my Little Devil. She has her hand over her mouth and tears fill her silver eyes. Groaning, I close my eyes and mutter under my breath, summoning a portal to take me to the Academy.

I need to get the fuck out of here. We have a coven meeting tonight, and maybe I can sacrifice some worms, or beat the shit out of someone.

“Master, you honor us with your presence,” Alara shouts loudly as she enters the clearing, right on time.

I was early. People in masks follow behind her, and I make sure my glamour is air tight. The only ones who know my true identity would never risk their lives or tongues revealing it.

“Master,” my servants shout and kneel at my feet. Blackwell stumbles up to my throne and collapses, reaching out with one hand to touch my boot, but I kick him away.

“Did I tell you that you could touch me, you sniveling worm?” I hiss, and he climbs to his knees, begging me for forgiveness.

Ugh, why did I decide to come here again?

Some of the students that I taught in my class strip naked and dance around the large fire, chanting, and I avert my eyes, meeting the gaze of one pissed off Jax Arrow.

I give him a smirk, and I swear he's growling. Silver's friend, Jade, tries to distract him, and I decide it's time for me to go.

I'd much rather curl up in bed with my Little Devil than listen to this drivel and sniveling.

I like that Silver doesn't act differently around me, or treat me like her King.

I think that's one of the things that always appealed to me from the start.

Standing, I wave my hand and pull up a portal. I'm expecting to be alone, but Clara comes out of nowhere and joins me in traveling to my castle.

“Forgive me, Master, but I needed to speak with you in private, and I was hoping to see Silver,” she says, keeping her head bowed, avoiding my eyes.

Growling, I lift my hand to strike her, then pause.

“I will honor you with leniency only once. You have been a loyal and devoted servant.”

“Thank you, Master,” she breathes, and then finally looks up at me. I wave my hand over my face, and my disguise melts away.

“How is she?” Clara immediately asks, and I groan, thinking about how she looked right before I ran away like some coward.

“Mad at me,” I blurt out, then wince. Clara blinks and then laughs.

“May I see her? Then we can chat?”

Nodding, I turn and start walking toward our room. It's late, and I know she's in there waiting. I can feel her worried energy and her remorse.

I knock on the door, because I don't know what state she's in at the moment.

“Come in,” Silver yells, and I open the door, letting Clara walk in front of me.

Silver's eyes widen and she has the biggest smile on her face as she pushes the tub of ice cream away and climbs off the bed.

“Clara?” she squeals, and I find myself smiling at her happiness. I need to do things that replicate this emotion more often.

I don't want my Little Devil to be miserable while staying here with me. I need her to want to stay, and to love me.

She's it for me. My soulmate. I never thought I would live for the whims of a woman, but for her, I would do anything.

Yeah, this girl has me collared and on a leash at her disposal. I just hope my enemies never find out.
