CHAPTER NINETEEN
DONOVAN
I t's been a month since the day I was kidnapped and turned into this fluff ball. I only know this because Layna was talking about Silver being a wife to her ‘Master’ for a month now.
I don't know what day it is exactly, because I am stuck in this room, going out of my mind with boredom.
Being a cat fucking sucks. I have to piss in a box full of sand now, because Luke caught on to what I was doing and made an invisible wall to the entrance of the closet. If I even attempt to walk through I bounce off of it like rubber.
Not to mention the new static wall around his bookshelves. Ugh, all I get to do these days is lay about in their room. Yeah, I get it was gross, but it was my only sense of fun and payback.
I tried clawing Luke to shreds, but Silver conjured these baby mittens for my front paws.
Kane comes and visits me sometimes in my torture chamber, aka, my play yard for cats. I guess there is a tiger roaming around the castle, and Silver is scared that I’ll be eaten.
Honestly at this moment, I may welcome it.
If I need to watch Silver and Luke fuck one more time, I may just try and murder them in this form. I thought her betrayal before was unforgivable, but being by her side these past few weeks have proven that her shame has no bounds.
She seems as obsessed with him as he is with breeding her. I know all about the prophecy and the supposed Star Child. Silver still doesn’t have a clue, but I think she’s starting to realize something is up.
Stretching my limbs with a purr, I jump up onto the bed. I avoid Luke’s pillow and face plant onto Silver’s. Even though she’s not the same woman I fell in love with, she does still smell the same.
I miss her even though she's right here, laughing and practicing her magic with Kane.
He gives her a smile and I can see how much he's fallen for her. Can't blame him.
She's easy to love. God, even as a cat I'm a total fucking simp for her. The way my heart races every time she laughs and when we cuddle, yes I know, but she's so snuggly.
I watch them for a little while imagining that I was the one she was working on her magic with.
She's incredible. I always knew she would be.
“So have you thought more of a new name for your cat?” Kane asks her and Silver laughs, looking at me.
Scrunching her nose, she sighs.
“Don't laugh at me, but I want to call him Donovan. I don't know why, but he just reminds me of him so much. Or maybe it's because I miss him. Shit, please don’t repeat that. Luke is possessive enough,” she mumbles her eyes wide, and she bites her bottom lip.
My heart races, and I perk my head up. Fuck, maybe she does sense me after all.
Kane laughs, but it's fake as hell.
Shaking her head she focuses once more on building a shield to protect herself. Getting frustrated, she screams and throws a ball of fire at the drapes.
Kane mumbles under his breath, extinguishing the flames, and Silver begins to rant.
I've noticed since the wedding she's been changing. Less patient, more capable for temper tantrums that usually include a flare up of her magic.
Something happened to her after the coronation, but some of the things she’s doing now even twist my stomach.
And what is with her obsession with torturing evil dictators we learned about in school?
Like don’t get me wrong the fuckers deserve it, but she gets way too much joy peeling the skin from their bones only for it to regenerate, and have her do it again the next day.
Luke doesn’t even bother accompanying her anymore and he's the fucking Devil. But she keeps me by her side at all times in this fucking death trap she calls a harness.
I find it funny she’s this great powerful witch, and she still uses human things.
I think she forgets at times that she has magic and can conjure anything she wants, or better yet, bind me to her side.
But when she does remember… I can admit watching her power grow is cool. Some of the things she can do now with the flick of her fingers astonishes me.
Even if it is used for evil purposes.
We just need to find a way to get the old Silver back, so she can use this magic for good.
I miss my sweet tempered girl that loved to bake and write songs. The one who would sing as she cleaned.
Fuck, I just miss the way things used to be.
The prophecy was right though, she is the most powerful witch to be born.
I’m laying on a window seat, staring out at a mountain of lava when the bedroom door slams open, and an irate witch storms in with the Devil in tow.
Luke looks on the verge of hulking out in his monster form, and I’m hoping he does.
Maybe if Silver sees who she really married she will come to her senses and murder his ass. I think she’s powerful enough now.
“Not another word, Little Devil,” Luke hisses, and Silver turns to face him with a pout, placing her hands on her hips.
Her ass points toward me, and I can’t help how she still turns me on.
I don’t know why she’s always traipsing around half dressed, and I hate that she’s got black hair now. I miss her blood-red locks.
“No, Luke! All you ever want from me is my powers or my vagina. I am so sick of being stuck here! I need to get the fuck out of Hell. Kane gets to leave every once in a while, why can’t I go too?” Her voice wobbles, and I know soon she’s going to be whining and crying.
I don’t know why I still even care, but I don’t like seeing her upset. Surprisingly I’m not the only one. A huge bengal tiger comes padding into the room, heading right for Silver, pushing Luke out of the way.
“Michel,” Silver gasps as he places his head below her hand and pushes up, using her fingers to love on him. A loud purring fills the room, and I make sure to keep my eyes on the wild animal as I slowly climb higher.
“Well this is new,” a woman says as she walks in. Luke looks like he’s about to explode in a fit of rage, and Silver is now cooing to the tiger.
“It’s astonishing how much he loves you. He doesn’t even like my daughter, which reminds me. Luke, it's time.”
Luke’s nostrils flare and he stomps out of the room. Silver turns to the woman and raises an eyebrow. “Yes, well, Michel come. It’s time to welcome your sister.”
“Wait what?” Silver asks, but the woman ignores her, leaving out the door, and I watch as Silver reacts to being dismissed. Her hands shake and soon she’s shouting and throwing more fireballs.
Damn, remind me not to piss her off.
ARROW
These past few weeks have been Hell on Earth. Since the wedding, I can't seem to focus.
My mind keeps replaying the vows Silver said to Luke.
Like she genuinely loves him. The Devil! The man that took her from us.
How is that even possible? And I thought she lost her soul, but during the reception I could have sworn it was still in tact.
Clouded, but there.
I wish I could get some fucking answers, but all I have is more questions, including that damn Tarot reading.
Meeting with Kane was completely pointless and the bullshit Tarot reading he gave me has only confused me more.
I am no closer to finding Donovan, and Wellson is still in his sleep state.
It also didn't help that Rosina was the one to show up with my bike. It took a promise of dinner to get her to leave me alone. I've been able to postpone her, but time is running out. I'm still trying to think of an excuse to get out of that.
Short of asking Myah to marry me for appearances only, I think I'm stuck.
My days have been bleak to say the least, and I haven’t had any premonitions. What’s the point of having this great power if I’m blocked for some reason.
The only good thing that’s in my future is that I’m about to graduate. It’s bittersweet because my guys should be by my side, but it is what it is. There’s a party after the small ceremony, and I might actually go.
I need to get the fuck out of this place. If Myah and Mylie hadn’t moved in, I’d already be gone. I’m drowning here in the memories. I need a fresh fucking start.
Giggling sounds out in the living room, and for one moment I let myself think of the dreams I've been having, wishing they were real, but I know that Silver isn't coming back, and we sure as hell aren't having kids together.
It's just Mylie playing. Jade and Clara have been teaching her some basic spells and she's enrolled in the elementary school here on campus.
Things are continuing on day by day, but I know she's worried about Donovan. So am I.
Closing my eyes, I try and search for him again, but all I'm seeing are fucking blurry shadows. I don't know why my damn powers are blocked.
Kicking my blankets off, I roll over and grab my phone. Rosina has texted me six times since I went to bed.
Maybe I should just say fuck it. Marry her and become the person my family wants me to be.
Rolling off the side of the bed, I walk out of my room and down the hall to the bathroom.
Silver’s robe still hangs on the hook, and I know I should remove all of her things, burn them or something, but I can't.
Stripping off my sweatpants, I step into the shower and turn the water on. It's ice cold, but I don't care. Closing my eyes, I try not to remember when Silver surprised me here, in this very room.
She was always so open to us being together but I pushed her away. I know it was the right move, but it still doesn't make my dick want her any less.
The water warms and it beats over my tense shoulders. I have classes all day today then we have a coven meeting later.
It's my last one as an Academy student.
Opening my eyes, I grab some body wash and begin cleaning myself. I avoid my erection.
Silver betrayed me. She's a royal bitch now, and I will not continue to masterbate to thoughts of her.
Maybe I need to just get laid. I usually don't participate in the orgies during our coven meeting but maybe it's time.
Rinsing off, I use my air magic to dry myself, then wrap a towel around my waist and go back to my room.
“What the fuck are you doing in here?” I snap the moment I see Rosina sprawled out on my bed.
She gives me a smile, licking her lips. “Get out, Rosi,” I growl, leaving her and moving toward my closet to change.
“Jaxsy, don't be mean. You weren't replying to my messages and your mom called me. She had some big news to share.”
Rolling my eyes, I close my closet door and quickly dress. “I have classes in an hour. Right now isn't the time,” I shout.
The door swings open and I growl. Rosi is still on the bed, but she leans closer, getting a look at me dressed in only basketball shorts.
“I don't know why you keep pushing me away, Jaxson Arrow. You loved me once. I'm sure if you just tried we could get there again,” she whines and I wince.
Yeah, I'm over this. Closing my eyes, I open a portal to Hell, hoping Luke allows me entrance, then step through the silicone.
A wind blows all around me and soon I'm blasted in the face with heat. Sighing, I open my eyes and walk up the cement steps to the castle's front door.
I wasn't expecting to find Kane there with Silver on his back, laughing. My heart aches, but I don't show it.
“Arrow, this is a surprise,” Silver says as Kane puts her on her feet. She gives me a smile, but it doesn't reach her eyes.
She looks different, and I don't just mean her hair.
“Yes, well I was hoping to talk to Kane,” I mutter, taking a step away from her as she reaches for my arm.
“How are you? How are Wells and Don?” she asks and for just one moment, I actually believe that she doesn't know the damage she's caused, but that's not possible.
My body vibrates with anger and how much I hate her. Kane steps between us, and he gives me a look. A warning.
“Love, why don't you go find Michel and toss the ball around?” he suggests, and Silver glances at him, her eyebrows furrowed, but nods.
“Good girl,” Kane says, then leans down and kisses her forehead before she walks off into the castle somewhere.
I scoff, and Kane turns back to me. His eyes are red, and he's trying to hold back his anger.
“I shouldn't be surprised you're sleeping with her,” I mutter, then chuckle, shaking my head. “I should have never come here. Just send me back to the Academy.”
“Arrow, stop! You can lie all you want, but I can smell the lust leaking from your pores.”
“Yeah, well she's always had that effect on me, but it doesn't matter anymore. She ruined my life. Our lives. I'd rather deal with my crazy ex then stay here.”
Kane sighs, then snaps his fingers and I'm back at the cottage. “Wow,” Mylie says as I stumble and sit on the couch.
Damn that was a headspin.
“Can you teach me to do that?” Mylie asks, and I shake my head.
“You have to be very powerful to transport someone without a portal,” I mumble, then sigh and stand.
“Oh, Arrow, there you are. I kicked out your little houseguest, and I know that we are just staying here until Donovan returns, but I do have an impressionable daughter, so please if I could ask you not to bring around strange women…”
Myah trails off and I shake my head. What is she going on about?
“Huh?”
“A woman stormed out of your room, spitting mad and started going off on me. I think she believes I'm your girlfriend or something, but I kicked her out. She's rather rude.”
“Yeah, she's not welcome here anymore and after classes I'll put some wards around to prevent her from coming near the cottage.”
“Thanks. Well I'm off. I have an interview today, and Mylie has school,” she says, moving closer to me and patting me on the cheek.
“I won't be home tonight. I have a…” I glance at Mylie and she's giving me a big smile. “A ‘meeting’ later.”
Myah nods, then takes Mylie's hand, and they leave. My phone buzzes and I ignore my father's call. I'm already late for class.
Graduation goes on without a hitch, and it's bittersweet. My boys should be standing beside me. This isn't fair.
I go out to eat to celebrate with Jade, Clara and Myah. They try to convince me to go to the afterparty, but I'm not in the mood.
Instead I find myself in Wellson's room. A circle of chalk around his bed and candles placed strategically.
It's been a long time since I've tried to talk to the Spirits, but I'm desperate.
Jade walks in with the sacrificial dagger we use for meetings, and I offer her my hand.
Slicing a small cut on my palm, I drip the blood over the flame of the black candle.
A blue smoke erupts, filling the room, and Jade begins to chant. Closing my eyes, I fight to see anything.
I'm about to give up when I get a flash. It's Silver sitting on a bed, eating chocolate-covered strawberries, but it's in a weird angle as if Donovan is below her… Or very tiny.
I open my eyes and stand.
“Did you find him?” Jade gasps, but I shake my head.
“No, but I think I know where he is, and it won't be easy.”
“Okay…”
“We have to break into Hell without getting caught.”
“How in the…” Jade is interrupted by a loud blast outside the cottage, shaking the foundation.
“What was that?” she screams and my head begins to throb.
Screaming. Running. Gore. Blood. Hunters.
I come back to the present, on the floor with Clara holding my cheeks, crying.
“They are dead, Arrow. They are all dead.”
