CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE
ARROW
I 'm reading to Wellson when I hear a thump noise. Thinking it's just Don, I ignore it until a vision hits me like a jackhammer to the skull.
She's here! Throwing the book to the ground, I hop out of the chair and run.
With a wave of my hand, her door flings open, and she turns with a gasp.
“Silver.”
“Hi, Jax,” she says softly, then wipes her eyes with the back of her hand, sniffling.
I can't stop myself. I know we ended things on shitty terms, but I don't know how long she's going to be standing in front of me. Close enough to touch.
My feet lead me to where I have always wanted to be. “How is this possible?”
Pausing a space away from her, she looks up at me and shakes her head.
“I don't know. I think this is a birthday present. Luke didn't say much…”
Not giving her a chance to continue, I grab the back of her neck and pull her lips to mine.
Silver gasps, but doesnt fight me or pull away. A vision so powerful hits me, and I am on the verge of passing out, but still I kiss her.
Flashes of our future play out like a movie, but I'm not paying attention. I think right now I'd rather live in the moment.
Silver wraps her arms around my neck, pulling me closer as her tongue tangles with mine.
My cock twitches and I know I need to back away. Take a breath. I kiss her one more time, slower, then pull back and rest my forehead against hers.
Silver pants against my lips as she blinks her eyes a few times.
“Wow,” she whispers, and I smile.
It’s been a long time since I’ve grinned.
“Hey, Arrow, why is Silver’s door open?” Don shouts from down the hall.
Moving away, I take a seat on the edge of her bed and wait for him to join us.
Silver gives me a huge smile, and I can’t stop grinning. My face muscles are twitching and all.
“Silver!” Don shouts before bolting into the room and grabbing her. He holds her so tight she squeaks.
Don looks at me from over her shoulder and all I can do is shrug. I don't know what's going on right now.
“It's really you,” he says, breathing in her hair with a groan.
Silver laughs and tries to move away, but he grabs both of her cheeks and kisses her. Soon they are grabbing each other tighter.
I'm about to leave the room when they separate and Silver giggles.
“I've missed you so much. Both of you. And this place…”
Walking over to the window, she smiles. “Do you know how much I have missed the fresh air and trees?”
Reaching for the lock, she removes it, then tries to open the window. It doesn't budge though.
“That's weird. Maybe it needs some WD-40,” she mutters, then turns and looks around her room.
We haven't touched it, so everything should be the same.
Her blankets are still messy from that morning. There's hair products and makeup all over the vanity from when she was getting ready for the ball too.
“It's like nothings changed, but yet everything has,” she says, then begins to walk out of the room. “Is Wellson here?”
Don looks over at me and shakes his head.
Silver is here and we don't know for how long. I don't want to upset her.
“He's out, but should be back by morning,” I lie, feeling like a huge dick, but this is unreal.
I'm starting to wonder if this is a dream. Am I asleep right now?
Silver freezes in the doorway, then turns to us with a frown.
“Does he hate me? Do all of you?”
Don steps closer to her and takes her hand, pulling her to the bed.
“At first I was a broken mess. I was so angry that you would just leave us like that after I'd opened myself to you… But this time apart has shown me that I'm still yours, Princess. I will always be yours.”
Silver wipes her eyes and shakes her head.
“No, Donnie. I can't be yours… I think I know what tonight is now,” she mutters, then groans.
“What do you mean?”
“Luke. This is his way of letting me say goodbye. Giving us the closure we never had.”
“Why would he do that?” I ask as Don moves to leave her room. He gives me a nod and I know he's about to glamour Wellson's room.
“Because it's my birthday today… and he loves me,” she whispers before putting some of her hair behind her ear.
She seems different and not just her appearance. Her aura is black which is to be expected, but there is also a swirl of white through the inky darkness.
I'm not sure what to make of it.
“Do you love him,” I ask, crossing my arms, thinking back to the vows she said that day.
Silver nods, then sighs. “I do… but my heart doesn't just belong to him. There are four others holding space in my chest.
My eyes widened at that. “Four?”
Laughing, Silver moves to the mattress and plops down with a groan.
“Kane, Luke's cousin. He's an Incubus. We've gotten closer over this year. He's helped me with my magic and spells. When they want to cooperate that is.” She starts off strong, but ends her sentence in a mumble.
“Listen, Jax, I don't know how long I'm allowed to stay and I know we have a lot of things we need to discuss, but right now my heart is so full and happy. I feel almost whole.”
Don returns with a bowl of popcorn and some drinks. “How about a movie? Like we used to?”
Setting the things on the side table, he turns to Silver, waiting for her answer, but something has changed.
There is a heaviness in the air now. Licking her lips, she moves onto the bed, climbing onto her knees, claiming the middle.
“I think I'd like my birthday gift now,” she says with a smirk, and I don't know what just happened.
Silver was never an innocent virgin, but who is this vixen?
“Umm,” I start, but Don is already removing his clothes, prowling the rest of the way to the bed, while he pumps his cock.
Silver moans, squeezing her thighs together. Looking at the door, I contemplate leaving.
We've never been together like this before. Does she just want Don?
A trembling hand rests on my arm and I turn to look at her.
“Do you still not want me… I mean I'd understand, but the way you kissed me…”
Fuck, is it hot in here?
“No, I do. Trust me, but this is happening so fast…”
Moving back, Silver reaches down and pulls the dress she's wearing up and over her head.
She's not wearing anything underneath and her full breasts sway with her breaths.
Twinkling studs shine in the light from her nipples and Don groans.
“So perfect.”
Arching her back, she lays down, rolls over and gets onto her hands and knees.
“Don't you want me, Jax,” she purrs and I nod.
I'm lost under her spell. I have been fighting this… her… for too long.
Moving toward the door, I shut it and flick the lock. Myah and Mylie aren't here right now, but when they return I don't need them walking in on this.
Muttering a silencing spell for good measure, I begin to slowly undress as Don moves in front of Silver, placing his cock to her lips.
He glances at me and nods toward her ass.
He wants me to fuck her?
Silver moans as she sucks the head of his cock. I move closer to her, climbing onto the bed, but I don't touch her.
The lust is so heavy in here right now. If I had half a brain I'd question if Kane was somewhere nearby.
“Please, Jax, just let us have tonight,” she says, looking at me from over her shoulder.
Her silver eyes gleam and there is a dark swirl of something moving inside of them, but when she shuffles back, pressing her ass against my naked cock, I lose all train of thought.
Her skin is so soft and warm. Don grumbles since she's not touching him anymore.
Wrapping her hair around his fist, he pulls her head back a little.
Silver's eyes roll back and she moans, then looks back at me.
“You're sure?” I ask one more time. Nodding, she begs me with her eyes.
Grabbing her hips, I grind my dick against her heated flesh. She feels incredible and I'm not even fucking her yet.
Don groans as Silver swallows him whole. His head is tipped back and he looks to be in ecstasy.
Gripping my cock, I place it at her wet center, then thrust in slowly.
It's been so long since I've had a warm, tight pussy wrapped around me.
Silver whimpers as I begin to do some shallow thrusts.
She feels amazing. I don't think I'm going to last long.
Colors swirl in the air around us as I pick up my pace, running my hands along her body.
Don begins to tighten his hold on her hair and really fuck her mouth. Silver gags, squirming all around as I fuck her deeper.
The room explodes in swirls of colors and stars. What? Don looks around as well and he smirks.
How is this possible? Silver clenches me tighter and I know she's close. Don reaches down and tweaks her nipples, groaning as she moans around his cock.
I'm close and if she keeps squeezing me like this I'm not going to last before she comes.
Bending over, I reach down and play with her clit. It doesn't take more than two swirls and she's screaming around Don's cock while soaking my thighs.
Don grabs her throat and holds her in place as he comes.
My body shakes as I follow them into euphoria and the bond snaps into place.
I can feel her inside of me. She's exhausted, elated and a little worried. I don't know what the fuck is going on, but how can Silver be my soul mate?
Don's sighs, rubbing his finger along Silver's cheek as she smiles up at him. He's her soul mate too.
“Ugh, I really need a shower,” Silver mutters and as I pull away, Don grabs her and picks her up, tossing her over his shoulder.
“Round two! Fuck yes.”
He leaves the room, by unlocking the door and opening it with a simple spell.
I can hear Silver giggling down the hall and I smile. It's nice to have her back again.
Doing a simple shower spell, I clean off, then grab my basketball shorts from the floor.
I don't bother with a shirt. Checking that the coast is clear, I walk toward Well's room. I wish he was here for this, but I have a hunch.
Taking my seat, I grab the book from the floor and place it on the bed.
“Silver's back. Today is her birthday. Luke gave her a night of freedom. I think it's time to wake up, Wells. This might be the last time we see her.”
With that final word, I stand and leave his room, making sure to close the door.
When I reach Silver's room my phone is buzzing on the side table. I quickly walk over and answer it.
“Hey, so we can't get inside. There seems to be a shield around the place,” Myah says before I even say “hello”.
“I have a feeling it's the Devil's work. Silver is here for her birthday.”
“Oh, wow. Really. Don't say another word. Miles and I will stay with Clara.”
She ends the call and I have to laugh. Myah and Clara have become close lately. It's good. She needs some friends while here.
Leaving the room, I head for the bookshelf in the living room. I know we have a book on soul bonds. They are extremely rare though.
I can hear Silver and Don in the shower. My dick perks up, but I ignore it. They have always had a thing for bathrooms.
Finding an old leather tome, I grab it then settle on the couch. I have to stroke the spine a few times and mutter a preservation spell.
It's so old, I can't risk damaging the pages.
Cracking it open, the room fills with the scent of old books and I breathe it in.
It's written in Latin. This is going to take a little while. I may have to do this tomorrow instead.
I don't want to waste our time with Silver. My spine tingles and I take a deep breath, accepting the vision.
Silver walks down the hall alone. It's dark and quiet. She stops at Wellson's door, and takes a deep breath.
Checking the coast is clear, she opens it and walks inside.
“I knew something was wrong. Why wouldn't they just tell me?”
Moving toward the bed, she sits on the edge of the mattress.
“What happened, Wells? Have you been like this the whole time?”
Placing her hand on his cheeks, she moves some of his dark hair. He needs a haircut, but we haven't bothered.
“I love you, Wellson Birch,” she whispers, then leans over and presses a kiss to his lips.
Pulling away, she stands, then leaves the room.
The vision changes.
I'm still in Wellson's room, but he's alone now. I watch as he smiles in his sleep, and whispers, “Snow.”
“So, how about that movie now?” Don says from the kitchen as I come out of my vision.
I want to jump up and tell him that Wellson is going to wake up, but then Silver will know that we lied, and what if that changes the future?
Will he wake up if she doesn't see him at that exact moment?
Too many uncertainties and I’m not risking it. I miss my brother.
Walking into the kitchen, Don's holding Silver in his arms, staring into her eyes.
“That was amazing.” Silver sighs, then stretches. Don hands her the fresh bowl of popcorn he conjured.
“Arrow, movie?” Don asks and I nod. We walk back to her room, and settle in for the movie she chooses.
“This was the perfect birthday,” she says, then looks at the door. “I wish Wells was here though. I'd like to see him before I leave.”
“Why do you think you're leaving? We just got you back,” Don says, pulling Silver into his arms and holding her tight. He's becoming frantic and I know this isn't going to end well.
“You’re mine, Silver. Didn't you feel it? The way our souls connected?
“I did, but Donnie… I'm married to the Devil. I live in Hell. There is a reason that the window won't open for me as much as I'm sure the front door would remain closed… Luke is giving me a gift. To spend one last amazing night with you guys, but I'm still as trapped as if I was in the Underworld.”
“I'm not going to stop fighting for you, princess. You were mine first.”
He looks over her head at me, asking with his eyes if I agree with him. I nod and he sighs, relaxing against her.
He's right. Silver is ours. Fuck Luke. Now that I've had her and know she's mine, I'm never going to give her up.
SILVER
I can't sleep. Something just feels off about this place. The air is too still and where is Wellson?
Donnie holds me tighter in his arms and I look up at his face. He fell asleep with a smile on his lips. I wish I could stay, but I know this is only temporary.
It's like some kind of innate feeling inside of me. Warning me that Luke will be coming in a few hours.
Sighing, I gently roll over to face Jax. He surprised me last night. The way he grabbed me and kissed me.
I'm so torn. I love Luke and Kane, but Jaxon Arrow, Donovan Blake and Wellson Birch have had my heart for a long time.
He looks so peaceful in his sleep. There are dark circles under his eyes. I know I'm to blame, but hopefully now they can move on.
I'm meant to rule Hell by Luke’s side. My time in Salem is over.
Carefully, I remove Donnie's arm and wiggle out of the bed. I take one more look at them, then leave the room.
Walking down the hall, I stop in front of Wellson's room.
His presence is heavy here, but something is off about it. Taking a deep breath, I open his door and step inside.
There is a nightlight in the corner of the room, illuminating him sleeping in the bed. But he's too still.
There is a second bed in here and an armchair full of blankets. “I knew something was wrong. Why wouldn't they just tell me?”
Moving toward the bed, I sit on the edge of the mattress. “What happened, Wells? Have you been like this the whole time?”
Placing my hand on his cheeks, I move some of his dark hair. It's so long now. He doesn't move. Only his chest as he takes slow, steady breaths.
“I love you, Wellson Birch,” I whisper, then lean over and press a kiss to his lips.
Pulling away, I stand, then leave the room, heading for the kitchen.
I want these guys to wake up to something from the past.
