CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE
ARROW
TWO MONTHS LATER
“ M yah, you are our guest here. You didn't need to make us breakfast again, but thank you.”
This is the fifth time this month she’s surprised us with a huge spread of food.
“Mama makes the best waffles. Margie taught her in Crystal Cove. There is a secret ingredient, but I'm not old enough to know yet,” Mylie whispers, placing her hands on the side of her mouth, but she doesn't realize that we can all hear her.
“I will tell you one day, Mylie Moo, but I don't need you trying to cook by yourself just yet. The new place was a pain to rent and the landlord is an asshole.”
“I was thinking this morning. Arrow's graduated now. I would have as well if I wasn't stuck down in Hell, but it may be time to move out,” Don says, looking right at me.
“Oh, wow. Is that safe though?” Myah asks, while pouring some syrup onto Mylie's waffles.
I opt for some whipped cream and sliced strawberries. I don’t need any extra sugar today.
I have a meeting with Clara about the new attorney position and I'm nervous. I never foresaw taking Blackwell's job.
I was trained and took courses, but Blackwell was supposed to live for at least a century.
Just another thing that Luke has decided to do to fuck with my life.
“The Hunters are now in Boston. Salem seems to be safe for the moment. I wouldn’t suggest going out at night just yet though,” Wells mumbles, shoving his mouth full of food.
It’s so surreal having him back. Now we just need to get our girl here for good.
“Yeah, Mylie only goes to school and then here, if not the apartment.”
“You guys are welcome to stay with us. When we move again, I mean,” I say and Don gives me a big smile.
“That's very sweet of you guys, but I don't want to cramp your style. Eventually you guys will want to move on with your lives, as you should.”
Myah looks out the kitchen window and sighs. “I need to move on. I actually may have a date next week. On Valentine’s Day. I know you guys have your party, so Jade and Clara offered to babysit.”
Mylie drops her fork and squeals. “Yes, I really need a dad, Mom.”
Don gets quiet and I know what he's thinking. Mylie has a dad, but he's evil incarnate and she will never ever meet him.
Myah laughs, then Mylie and her start talking about some school project for Valentine’s Day.
Soon breakfast is over and it's time for my meeting.
As I'm bringing my plate to the sink, I get a massive hit of nausea and have to grip the counter.
“You okay, Arrow?” Myah asks and I shake my head.
“Vision,” I grunt before falling onto the tile floor.
Unbearable pain spikes in my temples and I fight to understand what I'm seeing, but it's shadowy and blurred.
I instantly know it’s about Silver, though. I can't see clearly but I can hear.
“ Look at our little Queen now. Curled into a ball at my mercy,” a man shouts and he sounds manic.
“Not so powerful now. You're pathetic. Luke deserves someone of his stature, and you are not it.”
“Arrow, what is it?” Don shouts, shaking me. Myah is holding Mylie and they both have worried expressions on their faces. Wells runs over with a glass of water.
Sitting up, I rest my back against the kitchen cabinets, taking a few deep breaths, then accepting the cup.
When my head clears, I look into Don's blue eyes.
“Silver's in danger.”
SILVER
The days in Hell are becoming more and more boring. Kane is missing and I still can't find my cat anywhere.
Merida did a spell to see if she could track him, but he's nowhere to be found.
I am going crazy. I haven't slept in weeks. I know there is a baby somewhere in this fucking castle, but I can't find it.
Moving along the halls, I ignore Shayna and her sneering. I wish Luke would kick her out, but for some reason he wants to keep her around.
At least she doesn't touch him anymore.
I guess old dogs can still learn. All it took was a fireball to the face and some seared eyebrows to get her to understand that I wasn’t fucking playing.
Reaching my destination, I storm into Luke’s office with an attitude that would rival Winnie.
Huh, I wonder what happened to that little bitch’s soul. Maybe I should ask Luke to bring her to me, so I can play with her a little bit. He owes me now. And her soul might be just what I need to get out of this funk.
I can’t believe he took my toy away. I was having fun tormenting that mean, nasty man. Who cares if I went a little too far, he was a murdering rapist and deserved to have a lifetime of torture in Hell.
“I was wondering how long it would take you to come track me down, Little Devil ” Luke growls in my direction, but doesn’t bother lifting his eyes from the tablet in his hands.
I sway my hips as I stride his way. When I reach his chair, I wrap my arms around his neck, before sliding my fingers down his chest. He grabs my hand and presses a kiss to my knuckles, but that’s not what I want.
I’m so bored and for some reason he won’t fuck me. After months of non-stop attention, he’s just stopped, and I’m sick of it.
I slip around the side and smack the tablet from his hands, ignoring his snarl when it lands on the stone floor.
“Whoops.” I shrug and climb onto his lap, straddling him, and grabbing his throat, forcing him to meet my eyes.
“I shouldn’t have had to track you down. You should have been by my side instead of reading that boring journal again. If it wasn’t for your full devotion to me, I would be jealous.”
He rips my hand from his throat and grasps mine tight.
“Just because I may be devoted to you, Silver, does not mean that you will be the one in control in this relationship. I am and will always be your Lord and savior, so you better start treating me with respect and stop acting like a little brat, or you will not like the consequences.”
His palm pulses against my neck and I roll my eyes. At this point I would take anything he gave me, even a little choking. His nostrils flare and he stands up abruptly, slamming my back against the hardwood of his desk.
A small breath of air leaves my lips from the jolt, and he wastes no time restraining my wrists in his other hand.
My body heats and my panties flood. I love making him snap and show his true colors. He may call me a brat and at times that’s true, but I’m mostly lonely and just wanting his attention.
He was the one to drag me away from the people who cared about me. He wanted me all to himself, he married me and made me his queen, so now he will have to deal with his consequences.
“I don’t have time for this, Little Devil,” he growls before kissing me hard and I melt. I kiss him back and squirm, but before things can get too heated he pulls away like always and then snaps his fingers.
“Take her away and give her a new toy,” he orders one of his servants as they appear and I pout.
“You’re no fun. I just want to play with you,” I whine and he sighs, shaking his head.
“Silver, I have to work. Maybe in a few days we can go tour the other realms, okay?” He gives me a kiss on the forehead, then waves me away.
I stomp out and behave for now, but only because I have a plan for later.
When the coast is clear, I make my way down to the dungeons. My hounds greet me at the bottom step and I scratch behind their ears.
“Such good babies. Did you miss me?” I coo, then step beside them and grab their leashes. “I think it's time for you to show Mommy how to get out of Hell.”
Bridgett made the mistake of telling me how Hellhounds have a secret doggy door of sorts back to the mortal realm.
If Luke wants to ignore me and keep me trapped here, then I will just need to find a way back to the Academy.
The guys will keep me entertained.
Leading them up the wide stone steps, I listen for any footsteps, but it seems the coast is still clear.
Moving along the halls, I wait to be caught and honestly I might just be hoping to be. I don't know what's going on with Luke.
We had some really good months, but now it's like I'm an annoyance to him instead of being the love of his life.
I don't know what to do and I miss my Incubus.
He left without a goodbye and I don't know if it's something I did or said, but the way I’m being treated lately isn't right.
I feel as if Luke is trying to push me away. He doesn't even sleep in the same bed as me anymore.
Things are falling apart. I need Donovan, Wells and Jax.
As we reach the front doors, I take Nyx's leash and wait for her. She's been growling at something in the shadows.
“Come on baby,” I coo, trying to make her move.
She finally turns back to me with a huff. Opening the door, we slip out into the balmy night.
Mount Nightmare bubbles as the souls scream to be saved. Ramos is quietly watching our surroundings as Nyx stays close to me.
She seems on edge for some reason.
As we pass the volcanos, I move along a path toward the door to a different dimension of Hell.
Kane once told me that there were many places within Hell you could travel to, but Luke never took me to any of them besides the Springs.
Stopping, I crouch down and remove the leash from the hounds. “Okay, baby, show me how to get out of here.”
Trotting toward a tree, Ramos rubs against it. A portal appears and I grin.
“I hope your new daddies love puppies,” I say with a laugh.
I can't wait to get back to the cottage. Things are just wrong here and I feel as if I’m losing my mind.
I'm also kinda suspicious that I might be pregnant. But the way Luke is acting, I don't want to tell him.
Walking closer to the portal, I snap my fingers for the hounds to follow me, but before I can step inside someone grabs me.
Expecting it to be Luke, I pout. But it's not him.
“Well if it isn't our little queenie, out for a stroll all alone.”
“What do you want, Shayna,” I growl. I'm annoyed that she caught me.
Laughing, she digs her nails harder into my skin. Her eyes glow in the light from the volcano and she looks crazed.
“What do I want? I want you gone. I want Luke to finally see me and not you!”
“Luke is mine, Shayna. He married me! You were just his student, that he tolerates for your mother's sake.”
Her eyes widen and she gives me a wicked grin. Maybe I shouldn't piss her off when she's like this.
“Just let me go. I'm leaving and I won't be back.”
“Sorry, your majesty. I just can't do that, you see I've been waiting, biding my time for a chance to get you alone. We both have.”
“What are you talking about,” I groan, then look at my nails as if she's an annoying fly.
Someone steps out of the shadows and Nyx growls, menacingly. Dark smoke covers his body, but I can smell the stench of death, and feel the evil pouring off of him. I begin to tremble and Shayna laughs.
“If it isn't Luke's Little Devil,” he says, his voice full of malice. “Or should I say his dead Little Devil.”
