Chapter 9

S hannon collapsed onto the bed, her mate heavy on top of her. He lapped at the wound on her shoulder, healing it even as it scarred her skin. But she couldn’t help the smile that crossed her face. She’d always thought she was destined to walk her path alone. But she was wrong. So very wrong.

Thank the gods.

“You’ll never be alone again,” Binder whispered as he slid out of her well-used sex and joined her on his side.

She moved over, making room for him. He frowned at the space between them, and wrapped her up in his powerful arms, pulling her close. A feeling of utter contentment settled over Shannon, and it took her a moment to understand it was their bond.

“Mmm, it’s a strong one, Butterfly. I feel it too,” he said.

“Are you reading my thoughts?”

Binder pursed his lips. He seemed pensive. After a moment, he continued rubbing her arms and her back, her butt, and her thighs. Touching her everywhere he could reach, like he was petting her, and she wasn’t complaining. After all, it felt marvelous. But she was curious what mating meant to a Shifter. Maybe it was different for Fae?

“In all my reading, I never came across actual accounts of Fae mating rituals. But I can tell you, I am not reading your mind. It’s more like your emotions, and then based on what I know about you, I am answering those questions I imagine you have. When you thought about our bond, I felt it swell and glow, like a glittery rope winding around us, tethering us to one another.”

“That sounds beautiful,” she said and pressed her lips to his.

“Are you sure you’re okay with this?”

“I know it’s fast, but you seemed sure?—”

She pushed against his chest so she could look at his face. Was he regretting what they did? Was he realizing now that Fairy had enhanced his feelings and maybe he rushed? Her stomach squeezed as doubts wormed their way into her brain.

“Hey, easy. That wasn’t me looking to back out or make excuses, Shannon Rose. You’re my mate. I’ve claimed you. And I am never letting you go. That alright with you?” he asked, but Shannon had the feeling it wouldn’t matter if she said no.

And that was fine, because Shannon was not saying no. He was her fate, her destiny, and she was grabbing onto him with both hands.

“Um, I hate to break it to you, Binder, but after the way you just claimed my body, making me see stars and the like, you’re stuck. I mean, you keep making me feel like you just did, and you are never getting rid of me, boyo,” she said.

Binder smirked then. No, it was more a grin. A sexy, wide, Wolfish grin, and he licked his lips as his eyes took a slow roam down her body.

“Yeah? That’s good. Because I’m ready for round two, Butterfly. But be honest, was I too rough with you? I don’t want to hurt you,” he said, concern shining in his gold-tinted eyes.

“You would never,” she said, knowing in her heart he would never hurt her. “I’m Fae, not spun glass. My body is curvy and soft, but not fragile.”

“Your body is fucking perfect. I wanna be inside you all the time.”

“Mmm, maybe we can arrange that.”

“Ha!” he barked a laugh cupping her cheeks and kissing her. “Gods, Shannon, you really are amazing.”

“So are you. Truth is, I think together, we can be anything. I feel more complete, more whole than I ever have.”

“Mmm, s’good,” he rumbled, and she kissed him again, wanting to taste the sound.

“I’ve felt a pull to you since you came striding into my Da’s office, bristling with annoyance,” she said.

“Well, that was aimed at the asshole who had his hands on you. Shoulda beat his ass,” he growled, and she rubbed his chest, wanting to soothe the Wolf.

“Now, now, you hardly had cause. Ollie is harmless.,” she scoffed, trying to soothe him at the same time.

Was it wrong she found his overbearing attitude just a tad sexy? Maybe. But oh well. To each her own.

“No one touches you, Shannon. I mean it. My Wolf, he won’t allow it,” Binder said, and she believed him.

“You know, I’m aware of the giant red flag you just pulled out and waved in front of my face, but I have to admit, I kinda like that you don’t want any other man touching me.”

“Man, woman, or fucking figment, Butterfly. No one touches you but me.”

“Yes, Mate,” she said, biting her lip, but this time out of excitement rather than embarrassment.

“Say that again,” he growled, already pulling her onto his massive body.

Shannon sighed and spread her legs, sliding her slick sex over his hard as steel rod. He took her hips, rocking her up and down, his mouth claiming hers in a kiss so hot, she swore she saw steam rising into the air.

Making love with Binder was something Shannon considered beyond her understanding of sex. Yes, there was intercourse. She felt his magnificent body flex and pump as he filled her with his engorged cock and touched her deeper than anyone else ever had. But there was so much more than sex involved.

Binder’s heart thudded inside his chest. She felt its rapid tattoo thundering against her own as he sat up, wrapping his arms tightly around her while he lifted her hips and slammed her down, landing him even deeper inside of her. She moaned, breathing in pants against his neck, feeling the rattle of his Wolf inside his chest.

She could feel it now. The pleasure in her body building as her mind went foggy. Shannon couldn’t form a sentence or even a phrase. She was close, so close . He made her feel things she never imagined possible. She trembled, and clutched at his shoulders, pushing his arms down as something unthinkable started to happen.

“Yes, Butterfly. Yes! Lemme see you, lemme see all of you,” he growled, moving his hold to her hips the second she started to shiver and shimmer.

Shannon couldn’t hold it back. She didn’t want to. Power pulsed through her veins as she revealed her true form to him. Her mate.

“That’s it, Butterfly. Come for me. Come all over my cock with your wings spread wide and your hair flowing like a wild black river down your pale curves. So fucking beautiful. So mine,” he growled.

Shannon moaned, her gaze locked on his. Her pussy rippled, squeezing him as absolute pleasure took hold. She didn’t know if she was more turned on by his words or his body. Probably both. He was so fucking hot.

Shiver. Shiver.

And as she felt his movements turn jerky, Shannon gifted him with something she never planned to give. She opened her mouth and pressed it to his, loosing a piece of her Fae soul into him, sharing her powers, longevity, and magic with her mate inside that one breathtakingly soft kiss. Binder moaned, cupping a hand around her neck as he increased the kiss, accepting her gift, and binding them even more tightly.

“Now you’re mine, too,” she whispered when they were both sated and she was too tired to move.

“You were always mine, Butterfly. From the moment you existed. I love you,” he replied, but Shannon’s breathing had already evened out.

S treams of sunlight filtered in through the glass panes, shining down on Binder and Shannon’s sleeping forms. But that didn’t stop the intruder from creeping inside. His Wolf heard the burglar seconds before his human side did, but like any good hunter, Binder did not give him reason to suspect he was awake.

He kept his breathing steady, not moving a muscle while the scoundrel tiptoed around the bed and over to the place where Shannon had pulled the cauldron only hours ago. The creeper sniffed around, growling something unintelligible before he continued to look about the cabin.

Bloody hell.

He was going to have to deal with this, and it was making him grumpy. The intruder did not appear to want to harm them, which was the only reason he was still breathing. The thought of Shannon being in any kind of danger was bad enough, but they’d only just fallen asleep. He didn’t want to disturb her.

Sweet, sexy Butterfly. Mine.

Binder’s heart squeezed inside of him, images of the last few hours running through his brain like stills in a slideshow. Shannon was his now. His mate. They’d claimed each other, and he felt a sense of peace he had never even suspected was missing from his life. Normally, he wouldn’t be so mad at whoever this was, likely someone looking for food or shelter. But this was not a normal time. This was his mating day and fuck this guy for ruining his morning sexy times plans.

Grrrr.

Binder slid out of the bed soundlessly. His gaze narrowed as it came into contact with a familiar green velvet suit and bright orange hair.

Motherfucker.

“Got ya!” he growled, grabbing the bastard by the neck and hoisting him off the ground.

“Oy, put me down you dog!” Keegan, Shannon’s Da, screeched.

He snapped his teeth and tried to get Binder with his claws, but he was so much shorter all Binder had to do was hold him away from his body.

“Da! Stop that right now,” Shannon yelled.

Shit. They woke her. Binder shook the Leprechaun, now his father-in-law, and growled again.

“Oh, daughter! He’s defiled you! No, this cannot be,” Keegan wailed.

“Defiled me? Are you daft?” she said, rolling her eyes.

“Shannon?” Binder said her name, though it was more of a question.

“Da, my mate is gonna put you down, then you and I have plenty to discuss, alright? No running and no fighting or I’ll let him eat ya,” she said sternly.

“Agreed?” Binder asked, but the Leprechaun snarled at him once more.

Binder sighed. He looked at Shannon who nodded, then he shook the small man again. Keegan wailed, then he nodded, hands raised. Binder supposed that was his agreement to stop his screaming. The dolt.

“Fine, fine. I’ll behave, but stop shaking me, for feck’s sake!”
