Chapter fifteen
Wilder
L ainey’s emotions turn prickly. She shoves at my chest, whisper shouting, “So that’s the plan? Feed me to the wolf?!” I scoff not realizing her seriousness. I am the wolf, not that pathetic rookie Jett, and his weird facial hair. “Lainey, I won’t let anything happen to you.”
“What are you going to do then? Huh?” She pushes me away, standing up, throwing her arms in the air. “You can’t kill him! You’re not a murderer. Besides, Coach Reynar would be suspicious. A second death in this locker room? That won’t fly, Wilder.”
I watch her carefully, anger flowing through her like lava making my body feel hot and unpleasant. “I would kill the entire team and Coach Reynar if they threatened you. They could take me apart seam by seam if they wanted. As long as you are safe.” My words pour out in a staccato growl. Just thinking about anyone hurting my Lainey makes me feel feral. There is nothing I wouldn’t do to keep Lainey safe. Lainey is my happiness. My purpose. My everything.
She stops pacing finally and looks at me. “I can’t lose you Wilder. You’re…”
“A part of me.” I finish her sentence with an infatuated smile. My empty chest contracting like a heart would if I had one.
Lainey stands there, tears falling as her eyes search mine, her anger retreating. I gain things from every handler. I now know Lainey’s gift. “I promise to keep you safe. Always. No matter what. We will be together. I will handle Jett. Trust me.” I take two steps towards Lainey and she matches them, crashing into my arms, her small arms wrapping around my center. My Lainey. My sweet ray of sunshine. My handler. My joy. My love.
We allow ourselves a moment of comfort then Lainey climbs inside of me. Willing my cock back down, we head to practice, through the halls and into the sunlit stadium. Coach Reynar is running around shouting at the team in a fatherly way like he usually does.
“Oh Lainey! Good to see you. Look at you two! What a matchup. I knew you would be the one to tame Wilder.” My fur ripples in delight and Lainey giggles like it somehow tickles. The happy moment is cut short by a looming feeling. My fur stand stiffly as Jett stares darkly from across the field. I carefully track him as he makes his way towards us.
Coach Reynar calls everyone over to give his announcements. While Reynar goes over the special guests and entertainment for the home opener, I catch Jett staring at us again. I can feel the malice oozing off him. Lainey must feel it too because she tenses up.
I see red when I look at him. Does he know about me? It’s a gamble to assume he does or doesn’t. I need to have a plan to keep Lainey safe. I can’t just kill him. Can I? I mean… he did scare my sweet Lainey on more than one occasion. My mind wanders as Lainey listens to Coach Reynar.
Practice goes on for another hour and I tactfully keep Lainey out of Jett’s reach the entire time. “Stop it,” she teases as I force her in another direction. I give her a little spank with my tail and she gasps. “Wilder! You naughty dog” she whispers.
“Careful Lainey, I’m a big bad wolf remember?”
“Yes, but you’re my good boy.” She exaggerates her whisper, turning it into a moan, knowing what that sound does to me. My needy girl wants me. Practice is almost over anyways, fuck it .
I move us towards the locker room quickly forgetting everything and everyone else. Right now, I need to taste Lainey. Drag more of those little moans that make me salivate and my cock throb out of her pretty pink lips. Picking up the speed because I can’t have my cock popping out at practice. That would be hard to explain.
Flying down the hall, focused on Lainey’s thick scent and soft panting, I don’t hear Jett following us. A stupid error in my need to feel Lainey on me instead of inside me. I fling the door open not caring if it slams, but it doesn’t. I take a few more steps and Lainey goes silent. We turn and see Jett closing the door behind him quietly, sliding his bat into the handle making a makeshift lock.
“What has you runnin’ off so fast Lainey… you’ve been avoiding me all of practice.” The way her name pours out of his mouth makes me feel white hot rage. Lainey removes my head holding it in front of her so I can still see. “Jett you’re not supposed to be in here.” She speaks confidently with a hint of annoyance at the interruption.
Glancing around the room, I take note of the bat in the door. He’s locked inside with us. I could take him down, here, right now, but not with Lainey inside me. I need to get her out and to safety first . Think Wilder.
A phone hangs lazily out of his pocket. He’s wearing a belt that could be used as a weapon. The spare bat rack against the wall. The towels thrown haphazardly into the basket. Anything and everything I could use, I’m looking for it. Arms relaxed by his side he steps towards Lainey. I pull her back a step and Jett notices her surprised expression. Lainey only falters for a moment, but it’s enough to raise suspicion.
