CHAPTER 6

STARGAZE — LUV SCARS

E arly morning, I was up and meditating to start my day.

Lucian had brought me some breakfast up to my room at three sharp. I took time to enjoy the spectacular view of snowfall from the vitreous window while enjoying a luscious slice of a Victoria’s sandwich cake with some hot, raspberry tea.

I was on the top floor with Ezra, Calista, and of course, Kai. I wasn’t sure if having my room directly opposite his was part of the universe’s plan to fuck me over, but it was working.

I hadn’t left my room and I was hoping not to bump into him at any moment.

Regardless, I adored my room. I had set my customisations online back when the place was set for a complete renovation. They always did so every year, taking into consideration the fact that rich kids constantly changed their themes and aesthetics.

I had settled for a grey and white theme this time around, and my bed linens matched the theme, too. The curtains, desks, chairs, and all other items were co-ordinated to blend in and I couldn’t get over the amazing floor-to-ceiling view in the prestigious bathroom of the mountains in the distance.

I could have opted for the same in the bedroom, but I got sliding doors that opened to the pretty balcony with a couple of chairs and a table.

My toes sank into the thick, fluffy rug beneath me when I got up to shower. I texted Kendrick and Yelena, shaking my head when Yelena sent me a selfie of her in her brand new, all-neon green, designer outfit for the day.

She looked stunning as usual, as expected. The number of guys and girls that asked her out or stared at her truly emphasised just how beautiful she was.

I took a long shower, allowing the hot water to cascade down my body. I shampooed and conditioned my hair, then exfoliated with some scrub before using my favourite bodywash. By the time I was done, the sun was out and bright in the sky, a rarity on this side of the world.

I took my time to moisturise and dry my hair before getting dressed in some army grey cargo pants with a matching vest, then a ton of hoodies underneath my black jacket.

After slipping on some sneakers, I finally left my room and headed to Yelena’s room. I skipped to her door, entered the code that never changed, and the door opened.

“Hey, girl—oh, my gosh.” I covered my eyes a little when I saw her and Coach making out on the table. Wow, that was quick. I peeked a little while he took his time to detach from her then gave her a lingering kiss after whispering something in her ear.

“Yasmina, what a pleasant surprise.” He finally turned to me, looking handsome as hell with his wavy hair, relucent blue eyes, and huge muscles.

“Indeed, it is. Keep the PDA on a low when I’m around.” Yelena smirked at my request. This definitely wasn’t going far.

“Wow, I thought the best friend would be advocating for me.” He chuckled and I rolled my eyes, moving over to hug her.

“I can and will if you're proper. And for the record, if you dare to hurt her in any way, I’ll make sure I push you down the slope so hard you won’t make it.” I narrowed my gaze as his eyes sparkled with amusement.

“And here I was thinking you were one of my most level-headed snowboarders.” He shook his head with a smile. “Trust me, I won’t even think about it. I like her, a lot.”

“Hmm, I’ll take your word for it. Now, it’s time for you to leave. We want to have some girl time.” I shooed him away and he simply laughed, blowing a blushing Yelena a kiss.

“Sure, catch you later.” He winked before leaving her room.

“And he was here for?”

“Twenty minutes. He’s just the sweetest, and we had some breakfast together,” she gushed, flicking her neatly coiled hair.

“I wonder when you're going to get into a serious relationship. It took you less than a day to start making out with him.” I shook my head in amusement.

“Ha! Probably never.” She scoffed while taking her designer bag and following me out.

We were going shopping for all our essentials for this snowboarding season. Yelena drove us to the store and we took over an hour deciding on our colour schemes and textures.

From shield glasses to jackets, they all had specific requirements that could never be overlooked—like the fact that our socks needed to be made from merino wool so that they absorbed moisture and allowed blood flow.

I invested in a helmet with a built-in sound system so that I was able to listen to music during practice and avoid conversations with people. I needed music to keep me sane. I needed music to keep me calm. I was nothing without my playlist. I had so many music devices in abundance: buds, headphones, earphones, you name it.

After a couple of thousands spent, we finally gave our endless bags to our bodyguards to take back to our rooms while we caught up over some hot chocolate in our favourite café. The staff knew us so well; they gave us the best table and little souvenirs like fortune cookies.

“Did you get through to your dad after all?” Yelena asked me while poking a melting marshmallow in her hot chocolate.

After dusting more cocoa powder over my tiramisu, I finally sighed. “No, and I miss him so much.”

“Aw, don’t worry about it, babe. He's going to call you soon, it's a new semester.” She patted my arm. “If you like, we can share my dad. He won't mind and he loves you already.” We both laughed at her suggestion.

“I'd love that. Mr. Dubois is the kindest man I know.” I pushed my hair aside.

“I always wonder how he got into politics. It's a vicious playground.” She shook her head with a smile and I hummed in equal puzzlement.

“Well, at least that same playground allows you to live comfortably.” I shrugged, noticing how Yelena was smiling at the boy serving by the counter. He had been staring at us for a while now, and he blushed when she gave him a shameless wink.

“You're doing it again.” I rolled my eyes, earning an innocent smile from her.

“What?”

“Flirting through eye contact with someone only for you to reject or break their heart.” I glanced in the cute boy’s direction before facing her again. “He’s not your type, it's not rocket science.”

“Hmm. There is a first time for everything.” She smirked, giving the flustered boy one last seductive look before turning to my disapproving face. “What? I'm into him.”

I raised a suspicious brow, but it was soon replaced with a wicked grin. “Ask him out then.”

“What am I getting out of this?”

“Next time you seduce a guy with your pretty eyes, I won't stop you. Hell, I’ll even help you. But if you don’t, then you're wearing tinted glasses every time we go out for the rest of the semester,” I spoke in satisfaction.

“Hmm, ‘kay. I’ll do it.” Yelena shrugged, and she didn’t hesitate to request for him.

Soon enough, the shy boy got to our table and I couldn’t help but notice that he was so muscular. His eyes were a unique hazel colour, and they were pretty fascinating.

In a way, his unique eyes reminded me of Kai. God, why was I thinking about that man more than usual?

Yelena took her time contemplating on her order while gazing at him. He was getting extremely nervous with the way he fiddled with his pen and occasionally looked away.

“Hey. I was wondering if I could order a coffee and a profiterole?” Yelena spoke and he smiled, writing her order down.

“Got it. Anything else you would like?” his deep voice asked.

“I don’t know, maybe Yas wants to order something.” She shrugged.

“No,” I deadpanned, and she rolled her eyes.

“Anyway, I want to order an extra, but I can't really pronounce it, maybe I can write it down?” She gestured for his notepad and pen, which he gave her with ease.

She handed the book back to him and a deeper blush spread across his cheeks before he left. He had been too stunned to say anything after that.

“I hope you didn’t say something crazy like ‘let’s fuck in the storeroom in five minutes’.” I narrowed my eyes suspiciously. She gasped with a big smile, before snapping her fingers.

“Come to think of it, I should have said that.”
