Legend
I stood from the couch and stared at my father. “You’re joking, right?”
“Son.” My dad scoffed. “You may have forgotten this but to me war is not a joking matter. I knew where he was for a couple of days, but when Tito called and told me that the limo had been attacked? I sent my soldiers out to pick the scoundrel up.”
“You really have him?” Glory asked, still looking shocked.
“Si, my dear.” He nodded his head at her. “Must I repeat it all over again?”
“Oh, wow,” Glory exclaimed as she raised her cell phone and tapped the screen.
“I already called your Uncle Zed,” my father informed her. “He gave me a phone number and I spoke to a man they call Talon Walker. They are on their way. For actually attacking my limo with my son in it? I wanted him dead, but I knew they wanted him captured if possible as that was what your Uncle Zed told me when I was there at your clubhouse. This has been their war after all. As long as he is done, I do not care who finishes him.”
“Luca went with the soldiers,” Dante explained. “And he took this Deacon into custody.”
Glory and I were still in shock as we slowly sat back down.
Max walked into the room and announced, “The Walkers are here, sir.”
“By all means bring them in,” my father replied.
The last thing Glory and I expected was this and we did not expect to see her family here either.
Talon, Liv and Glory’s brother, Redemption, all came into the room. They paused and looked at Glory then at me.
“Glory,” Redemption said as he came over and tugged her up from the couch to give her a hug. “They said you were attacked earlier today,” he said as he pulled away.
“Yes, but I killed them all,” she replied.
“ You killed them?” Dante asked.
Nodding, Romeo added, “...all?”
“Yes, she’s a helluva shot,” I told my brothers. “She was shooting at them from our limo while going about 90 down the interstate. Took out an SUV, then a truck.” I chuckled at the surprised looks on all the faces of the men there.
Except for Redemption, he simply smiled at his sister, not looking surprised at all.
Liv, Glory’s cousin, gave her a thumb’s up.
“Whoa, Gio,” Dante said. “You married a badass?”
Redemption looked back over at Glory and me to ask, “You got married?”
“No, Redemption,” she said. “But we are…ENGAGED!” she yelled with glee as she stuck her hand out to show him her ring.
I tugged her to my side and nodded.
“Ok, we will celebrate later,” Talon said. “Lead us to Deacon please?”
Stephano gave Max a nod.
Max turned and led them from the room.
A cell phone rang and Redemption stopped to answer it, “Yeah?” He kept walking, then he halted and said, “What?” With his cellphone to his ear, he turned to look at Glory and I. “When?”
A cold dread grew in my stomach as we stared at Redemption.
Glory went stiff beside me then she rushed over to her brother and stared at him.
“They took Dad a half hour ago,” Redemption told her.
“Who?” she asked. “Who took him?”
He shrugged and replied, “They don’t know, but it was a woman who called after they grabbed him. She demanded we do a trade.”
“No!” my dad yelled. “You will not give that killer back!” He pulled his gun out from the holster in his suit vest.
Talon and Redemption turned to face him.
Suddenly, metallic clicks sounded from all around the room.
I took a slow and careful look to see all of my brothers had their weapons out.
Next to me, Glory gasped as she stared at her family.
They had their guns aimed at my family.
Pulling her Magnum out, she raised it up and asked in a panicked whisper, “Legend…What do we do?”
NOT QUITE THE END…
