Chapter 29

SEBASTAIN

D amn, it feels like déjà vu, only this time I'm missing my other half. Xavier's jetting back home while I'm here, eyeballs glued to Luna absolutely slaying it onstage. She's working that deck like a pro, tweaking levels, looping beats—the crowd's eating out of her hand. A smile tugs at my lips as I watch her lose herself in the music, her hair wild, her sexy, curvy body moving in perfect sync with the beat.

Fuck me, she's gorgeous.

The neon lights dance over her face, highlighting the sheer excitement covering her face. A stark contrast to the vulnerable, wounded woman I saw earlier when Ruby ambushed us backstage. My fists clench just thinking about Ruby's face twisted up, spewing venom at Luna. Her little gang of hyenas circling, ready to pounce. Who the hell do they think they are?

The look on Luna’s face when the insults began almost broke me where I stood. For one hot second, I thought Luna might crumble. She still continues to impress me. She stood tall, fired back like a champ. And Ruby? Her set bombed so hard they practically threw her offstage.

The smirk on my face only grows as I think about Ruby’s set being a complete disaster. The fact that she was booed offstage a mere fifteen minutes in has the pride swelling inside me while I watch Luna thrive onstage.

As the beat drops one last time, the crowd erupts into a roar. Luna’s hands are up far above her head and she dances through the remainder of her set. Our eyes meet as she turns towards me, beginning to make her way offstage. In that moment, all the drama and mean girl bullshit from earlier fades away. This is what she needed. Her smile is infectious, my own mirroring hers as she approaches me slowly.

I'm buzzing with that pre-show adrenaline when Luna slides up next to me. "Give 'em hell, pretty boy," she purrs in my ear, giving my hand a quick squeeze. But I'm not letting her go that easy.

“Come home with me tonight?” I ask quickly, pulling her in close to my body. Feeling every single one of her curves pressed tightly against mine. I press my lips into her hair, feel the dampness against my own lips. Even her sweat is sexy. “Please, princess? Let me make it up to you.” I beg her.

“I guess I could do that. I mean, you did ask so nicely,” she says sweetly, pushing up on her toes to rub her nose against mine. Grabbing her cheek roughly, I pull her lips to mine. Pushing my tongue into her mouth, needing the taste of her to be on my tongue once more. She pulls away breathless and laughing. “You’ve got red on you.” Luna giggles as she smears her lipstick over my mouth roughly. “Now go, before Mac has both our asses!” She squirms quickly out of my hold.

With a playful shove, she sends me stumbling towards the stage. I can't help but laugh, the joy of the moment grounding me as I step into the spotlight. The roar of the crowd washes over me, and I feel that familiar surge of energy coursing through my veins.

As I take my place behind the decks, I cast one last glance over my shoulder. Luna's still there, watching me. Her stunning smile provides all the motivation I need. I turn back to the crowd, fingers hovering over the eclectic array of knobs, buttons, and levels.

With Luna's energy still pulsing through the crowd and now the promise of later hanging in the air, I launch into my set. The first beat drops, and the crowd erupts. As I lose myself in the music, a small part of my mind is already looking forward to the end of the night, to going home with Luna.

“You didn’t happen to fucking mention coming home with you required me to get on a plane, Sebastian.” Luna’s words are sharp as we pull up to the tarmac.

I can't help but grin, not feeling the least bit sorry. "Well, I didn't lie. We are going home," I say, waggling my eyebrows at her. "Technically, home is Colorado. Home is where Xavier is."

I look over at her, gauging her reaction. Her blue hair is still slightly damp from her performance, her eyes wide with a mix of surprise and what I hope is excitement. The lights from the private jet illuminate her face, casting shadows of concern that line her brow.

"Look, I know this is crazy," I say, cupping her cheek. "But we need to talk. All of us. Together. After that shitshow with Ruby, I figured you'd only want to tell this story once." I stroke her cheek, softening my voice. "Make no mistake, princess. I want us to hash everything out, but I need you. I need both of you, and I'm hoping you need both of us. Just come with me. If you want to bail at any time, the jet's yours. Just don't run away from us again. My poor heart can't take it."

Luna's eyes soften at my words, but I can still see the hesitation lurking behind them. She leans into my touch, closing her eyes briefly before meeting my gaze again.

"Sebastian," she says softly, her voice a mix of vulnerability and determination, "I want to, I really do. But this is a lot. Ruby, the show, and now this. I feel like I'm caught in a whirlwind."

I nod, getting it. "I know, princess. Believe me, I do. But that's why we need this. To slow down, to talk everything through. No distractions, no bullshit.”

She bites her lower lip, a habit I've come to recognize as her nervous tic. “What about Xavier? What if he doesn’t want to see me?”

"Oh, princess, if you only knew." I boop her nose and hop out of the car before she can react. She's already pushing the door open when I get to her side. Always gotta be independent.

"What about my stuff? I don't have anything with me," she says, a last feeble protest.

"We've got you covered," I assure her, gesturing to a small suitcase in the back seat. "Some chick named Jeri packed a bag for you. She also might’ve mentioned you owe her big time."

A small laugh escapes Luna's lips, breaking some of the tension. "Of course she did. That sneaky bitch."

I take her hand in mine, giving it a gentle squeeze. "So, what do you say, princess? Ready for a little adventure?"

She looks at me—really looks at me—and I can see the moment she makes her decision. Her shoulders relax, and a slow smile spreads across her face.

"Alright, pretty boy," she says, squeezing my hand back. "Take me home."

Relief and excitement course through me as I lean in to press a soft kiss to her forehead. "You won't regret this, I promise."

Mixtape Mayhem

What’s going on Mixers?! It’s been an interesting weekend for your girl… I’ve had my detective hat on and working hard to bring you the boiling hot tea in the DJ world.

What happened, Dahlia? Did you find out about the sexy DJ Duo Bas & Xav?

Not quite Mixers BUT… fear not! There’s been an interesting development.

I can hear you all screaming, “DO TELL!” So here it is…

While attending my girl Ruby Knight’s show at Craic, more on that in a moment, I stumbled upon none other than Luna Sparks backstage, which given club owner Mac McCarthy’s unfounded adoration of the talentless DJ, is not surprising.

What WAS surprising, was the fact that she was with none other than DJ Bas Not only were they together, but it appeared when Ruby and I walked into the COMMUNAL dressing room, that DJ Bas had been doing more than trying to teach the wash up how to be an actual DJ.

My poor girl Ruby was shocked and shaken. Not only had she been given to a crowd of people set on ruining what was sure to be an incredible set, she then had to deal with Luna and her drama. Viciousness too cruel to repeat (in case my sweet Ruby reads this) was spoken against her. All after that horrendous crowd had the nerve to boo her.

Coincidence? I don’t think so, Mixers.

I have a theory.

As you know, after my post about DJ Bas & DJ Xav making a spectacle of Luna at their anti-Valentine’s Day show, the duo went radio silent. Clearly they saw the error of their ways and elected to brush the whole misstep under the rug.

A few weeks later the duo ran into my girl Ruby at a show. The chemistry was instant. Spicy. A force of nature. Plans were made for what would be the most epic collaboration the DJ world has seen.

Now all of a sudden Luna Sparks makes an appearance at an event that Ruby and DJ Bas both happen to be attending? And then Luna and Bas just happen to end up in the dressing room… alone… for Ruby to walk in on?

Add in the audience that was placed to drive Ruby offstage and we have a setup my friends! And the culprit? I’ll let you sound off on that in the comments… but I’ll leave you with a clue: washed up, dead overweight, and talentless.
