Chapter Fifteen

Grace

Silas and Luke had let me take part in the strategy meeting. I had made my suggestion for the war effort – a solution that was obvious to me as a human. The thinking of vampires was often limited by the past, but in a situation like this one where all outcomes looked bleak we needed to explore new ways to move forwards. We had to work towards building a better future for ourselves.

The meeting went on for another hour as Silas and Luke, who quickly supported my solution, convinced the Heads of the Houses that allying with Athalis was our best option. I sat quietly in my chair. The conversation was heated, and I listened with interest.

Of course, doing anything more than making a proposal was beyond me. I was the Princess, and as my tutors had explained to me, my job was to support my husband. I had no true political power. I was glad the vampires had even considered my opinion, especially since among them I was an outsider – a mere human.

Still, maybe I shouldn’t look down on myself so much? All my life, I had never been considered particularly smart or beautiful. Silas was attracted to me though and also seemed to really value what I had to say, and I considered that fact a small miracle.

After an hour, the conversation calmed down.

“I think we have reached a conclusion: Estone will ally itself with Athalis in a war effort against Rosworth,” Silas concluded.

The other vampires nodded and murmured in agreement.

“I see no opposition to the choice. Lukas and I will speak to the rulers of Athalis about an alliance soon.” A small smile appeared on my husband’s lips.

My heart warmed. He was pleased with the outcome.

“Is there anything else anybody wishes to discuss?” Silas continued.

For a moment the group was quiet. Then a handsome vampire with copper hair and an athletic build raised his hand. He had a smirk on his face. There was something off about that smile, especially when he looked straight at me as he spoke. “Yes, your Highness, if I may have a suggestion.”

“Go ahead,” Silas said.

The man continued. “It’s been two weeks since the war efforts started. Some of us didn’t bring our human wives and husbands to the frontlines, like you didn’t at first, though obviously you have already amended that situation.” He gestured to me. “As we all know, we have to regularly drink ruby blood to ward off insanity if we’re over a hundred years old. There is a second benefit to feeding on ruby blood though – it gives us even more strength and speed shortly after we feed.”

“I’m not sure where you’re going with this line of thinking. If you’re asking me if you can summon your wife to the frontlines, the answer is yes, but she will be your responsibility to care for and keep safe. The rules are the same for everyone.” Silas arched his eyebrows.

“I have a better suggestion,” the lord said.

He sounded so sleazy to me that a tremor went through my body. The way he looked at me made me unsettled.

He spoke again. “What if you let us drink your wife’s blood?”

“Pardon?” Silas sounded completely stupefied.

My eyes widened, and my mouth gaped open. My hands balled into fists, hidden beneath the table.

A wave of disgust washed over me.

Sharing blood was such an intimate act, one which I associated only with my husband and having sex with him. The idea of another person drinking blood from my veins was unspeakable to me. I didn’t even want to consider such a possibility. Why the heck did this vampire think such a suggestion was okay?

“No,” I whispered.

The lord continued smiling. I shuddered, finally recognizing the feeling in his eyes. Lust.

I didn’t want him to look at me that way.

“How dare you!” I heard my husband’s voice as he spoke through gritted teeth. “Why would you even think to make such an obscene proposal involving my wife?”

I looked over at Silas. He was gripping the edge of the table with all his might, the wood splintering under the pressure. The look on his face was positively furious.

I calmed down, recognizing that he wouldn’t let such a suggestion actually happen. I was safe. He wouldn’t share me with anybody.

“If it wasn’t for the long history of good relations between your House and the crown, I would rip your head clean off right now,” Silas spat out.

The lord had a panicked look on his face. He must have not expected he would anger my husband so much. Good. For what he had suggested, I wanted him to suffer with fear and embarrassment.

“But-” The vampire squeaked out.

Silas raised his hand in the air, stopping him from going on. “There will be no sharing of my wife’s blood. If any of you need ruby blood, you may bring your own partners to the front lines, but it will be your job to protect them. The rules are clear. There will be no exceptions.”

The other vampires looked bothered by the tense atmosphere and my husband’s sudden anger. He was, after all, known to be ruthless and cold-hearted when handling his enemies. Nobody wanted to get on his bad side. The other lords made sure to glare in disapproval at the one who had made the antagonizing suggestion.

“Leave, all of you,” Silas’ voice boomed, his fury barely contained.

The vampires left the tent at top speed. Only Lukas remained. He looked worried.

“Silas-” He started speaking, but my husband let out a growl.

“I said leave,” he gave his best friend a look of pure anger.

Lukas shrugged, seemingly not bothered by Silas’ reaction. “Good luck,” he smiled at me as he exited the tent.

I quickly rose to my feet, remembering that Silas’ command to leave might extend to me as well. Yet, as soon as I stood and turned towards the exit, Silas moved close to me at inhuman speed.

“You stay,” he whispered, his lips a few inches away from my ear. His voice was heated. When I looked into his eyes, I recognized the heat didn’t come from anger. My eyes widened when I saw pure lust in his gaze.

“Silas?” I said his name like a question in a small voice. I wasn’t sure what was happening anymore.

“Yes, say my name,” he said, and leaned down toward my ear.

I yelped when my husband nibbled my ear. I’d never realized my ears were so sensitive.

Silas pulled me into his arms and moved his lips towards my cheek, my nose, my eyes, and then finally to my lips. He captured my mouth in a possessive kiss. When I gasped, his tongue went inside my mouth.

He kissed me like my mouth was an oasis in the desert, like he couldn’t get enough of me. His hand went into my hair, angling my head just right for his assault. He wanted to dominate me, possess me. I melted against him. I wanted to be his, I wanted more of him, I wanted us to be as close as possible.

“I will never give you to anybody else,” he growled when we broke apart. “Never. You’re mine, Grace.”

My eyes watered. All my life, I had wanted to find someone who would look at me the way Silas did now; someone with whom I could belong, someone to call my own. Even if Silas needed me only for my ruby blood or maybe because he liked our intimacy as well, I realized now with some pain that I would gladly take any affection this man would give me.

His possessiveness moved me. In his arms I felt precious. The rational part of my mind whispered that he only wanted my blood, but I didn’t want to give in to the possibility of that cold truth right now. Even if I were living a lie, at this moment I had to believe Silas wanted me for me; Grace, just a human girl, an ordinary person.

I put a hand on Silas’ cheek and gave him a soft smile. “I’m yours,” I said, my heart warm.

A ferocious look appeared on his face. He lifted me up and sat me down on the meeting table. I put my hands behind me to prop myself up and pushed aside some of the figures on the map to make more room.

“Oh,” I said, looking to the side, “I’m messing up your table.”

Silas’ reply was to grab my hips and pull my pants down.

“Silas,” I protested, but his hands moved to my underwear. He undressed me, then he kneeled in front of me and pushed my legs open.

Wait, were we going to have sex right where he held his important strategy meetings? My eyes widened, and I tried to close my legs. I made a sound of protest. “Silas, not here. This is inappropriate.”

“I will decide what is appropriate and what is not,” he let out another ferocious growl. His eyes were full of lust.

There was no stopping him, and a part of me actually liked this wildly unexpected location. Was I turning into a pervert? Or had I just been missing him the past two weeks and wanted to be with him as soon as possible?

Silas opened my legs and dove between them. He licked the folds of my pussy and put a single finger inside me.

“So tight,” he said.

He barely gave me any time to adjust before he pushed a second finger inside me.

I moaned his name, trying my best to stay upright as he fucked me with his fingers, licking my juices.

“Call my name,” he said.

He seemed to really like whenever his name breathlessly left my mouth. So I continued chanting his name as he pushed his fingers in and out of me.

It didn’t take long for an orgasm to overwhelm me. I hadn’t realized I was so parched for sex until now. No, that was wrong. I hadn’t just wanted sex, I had specifically wanted sex with Silas. Nobody else would do as an intimate partner. He was my husband, and I wanted him with my whole being.

Silas licked my pussy clean with an expression like he enjoyed the taste of me.

My arms felt weak. I slowly let myself lie back down on the table, thankfully not knocking over any of its remaining contents.

My husband gave me a look full of lust as he rose up and towered above me. “You’re lying down in the middle of the map like you’re a war prize.”

“I might as well be one – your prize,” my voice sounded breathless when I said those words.

Silas smiled. “That you are. Mine.”

He took off his pants and then his boxers. He was fully hard – ready for me. I swallowed my saliva. I could never get used to the sight of how big he was. Even though I knew now he would fit inside me, the sheer presence of him amazed me.

He had a satisfied look on his face, like he knew what I was thinking. “It’s gonna fit,” he said.

I gave him a small nod.

He chuckled and positioned himself in front of my entrance. “Ready?”

“Yes,” I said with a small smile.

He pushed himself inside me, stretching me, stopping halfway. I adjusted to his size, breathing heavily.

“You’re beautiful like this,” he said. The possessive look was back in his eyes. “I love seeing you impaled on my cock.”

I felt so embarrassed hearing him talk that dirty. I closed my eyes, feeling myself flush all over.

“No,” his tone was firm. “Look at me.”

I opened my eyes, and our eyes connected. I drowned in the sight of his lustful gaze. He continued pushing in and out of me, and I started moving my hips to match his rhythm.

Silas leaned down above me, pushing my hair away from my neck. His fangs hovered over my skin. “I’m going to bite you.”

A wave of excitement filled my soul. I couldn’t believe I had ever been afraid of his bite. Now I wanted nothing more than for him to drink my blood. “Yes,” I moaned. “Bite me.”

He groaned as he broke my skin with his fangs. My blood flowed out of the small wound, but I barely felt any pain. Ecstasy flooded me. I came, the folds of my pussy squeezing his cock.

Silas groaned again. “You’re mine,” he repeated. “Mine.”

A moment later, he thrust into me one final time, and I felt him come too. He leaned into me, his body heavy on mine but not heavy enough to crush me. I enjoyed the feeling of his weight.

When we both came down from the high, he pulled out of me. “I missed our intimacy,” he smiled. It was such a fulfilled, satisfied smile; the sight made butterflies dance in my stomach.

“Me too,” I admitted.

Silas’ eyes widened. “Really?”

I chuckled. “Yes, I enjoy being connected to you. Can’t you feel it when we… have sex?” I stumbled on the last two words, suddenly feeling shy.

Silas’ smile returned. “I guess I do.”

“You only ‘guess’?” I frowned.

In a surge of bravery, I pulled him back down towards me and pressed my mouth firmly to his lips. In no time we were making out again, and soon he turned me around on the table and fucked me from behind.

When we finally came back to our senses, we realized we were still in the war room tent and probably needed to find a more appropriate place to continue being together. We got dressed, and Silas took me to his tent where we continued making love.
