“Oh my god!” Tears stream down my cheeks. I turn to Dax, “Do you see what Noah and Tegan did for me?”

He glances down at the chocolate charcuterie board. A cute little turquoise and brown cowboy boot lays on its side, with daisies, baby’s breath and other flowers spilling out of the top onto the wooden board. More flowers and strawberries surround it.

“Is that real?”

“It’s all chocolate. It’s called a chocolate charcuterie board. The strawberries and some flowers are dyed white chocolate.” She sniffles and looks around at all her vases and flower buckets. “It’s real. This is all real thanks to you and…and the others. I just can’t believe it.”

The others have slipped in to witness her reaction, but she doesn’t notice until she wipes her eyes.

Nyla wraps her in a big hug. “It’s what family does for each other, sis.”

Pax, Noah, Beryl, Tegan, even Rhone, one by one they all give her a hug. In spite of my warning look, Silk wraps her in a big hug, kissing her on the cheek, then winks over her shoulder at me.

My irritation at his antics are all feigned. He still beats himself up for almost losing her. He’s become like her personal watch dog when he’s around. He’s even moved here between assignments.

The guy has suffered enough. It’s time he finds his own, once in a lifetime love.
