MARCO

One Year Later, Christmas Eve

C hristmas Eve was upon us once again. It had been almost a year since Ehrokk and I first met, and what a glorious year it had been.

My mate was the love of my life. We’d moved in together and had turned my townhouse into a real home.

He sat next to me with a broad grin, looking relaxed in his plaid shirt and sweats. I, of course, was dressed to impress in a black suit jacket with pressed slacks, and a burgundy silk button down.

Klaus, Flurry, Holly, and baby Noelle all sat around the table with us. We decided to spend Christmas Eve together, as we’d grown even closer over the last few months. We made a good found family.

Empty plates were spread out on the table before us. I’d spent the last few days preparing a feast fit for royalty, and it had paid off. All of us were stuffed, and we’d have plenty of leftovers to take to Ehrokk’s mom tomorrow.

We planned to wake up early, drive to see her, and then stay in Ehrokk’s small hometown through New Year’s. After that, we’d return home.

There was just a small break between Growler games. I was looking forward to attending the next one, especially since Ehrokk had gifted me his jersey. I wore it proudly every chance I got.

Klaus cleared his throat and stood up, using his claws to tap the side of his wine glass, the clink softening our murmurs.

Klaus cleared his throat. “I want to toast to our loved ones, and to love. Marco, Ehrokk—seeing the two of you fall in love and find happiness has brought all of us so much joy. You are meant for each other.”

“I’m glad we threw that party last year,” Flurry chuckled.

Holly beamed, raising her glass. “To fated mates.”

“To fated mates,” I agreed, raising my glass.

Ehrokk agreed, raising his as well. We took a sip and he leaned over to kiss me on the cheek. I turned just in time to catch his lips, smiling against them as we drew back.

He blushed and gave me a wink. His mated mark flashed above his collar, warming me with pride. My body already craved more with my mate.

As much as I loved our friends, I was eager to get him home to open presents. I had picked out the perfect gifts for him, and most were far too inappropriate to open in front of others.

I had a feeling they felt the same way.

“So,” I said. “I love all of you…”

“We love you too,” Klaus snorted. “But yes, no need to say more. We’ll get out of here.”

Holly shook her head at us. “Are monsters always horny?”

“Yes,” we all answered.

“Let’s help clear the table and clean up,” Ehrokk said.

Soon after, Ehrokk and I were able to say our goodbyes and step out into the snowy night. We waved at our friends before sliding into my car. I turned on the engine and cranked up the heat, releasing a contented sigh.

“That was perfect,” Ehrokk said. “Dinner was delicious. Mom will be thrilled to try your cooking.”

I grinned as he put the bag of leftovers between his feet.

“I’m very excited for our visit,” I said. “I will be cooking for the two of you all week. Anything your hearts desire.”

He grinned. “How will I ever repay you?”

His taunting question went straight to my cock. I let out a soft growl, stealing another glance at him. “I think we can work out some sort of deal. Let me get you home and we’ll have to see.”

He raised a brow as I pulled out of their driveway. “Oh? What do you have in mind, Daddy?”

I thought about the golden cockcage with Daddy’s Darling engraved on the lock, the leather chest harness that would fit him perfectly, and the aphrodisiac chocolate that would make us hard for hours—all wrapped up under our tree and ready for him to open.

A devilish smile crept over my lips. “You’ll just have to wait and see, darling. But I can promise you, it’ll be a night we’ll never forget.”
