Alice almost skipped as she made her way through the penthouse to Samuel’s office.
“Why are you so chipper?” Bobby called from the living area where they had been reading a file on a potential target.
“I know your secret,” she sang.
Bobby turned their attention back to the report, losing interest.
“If Gen knows, you know.”
That got their attention. “What are you going on about?” It was a good attempt at nonchalant, but not good enough.
“Evan Carter. The man Hugo plans to leave the family for.”
Bobby dismissed the report they had projected in front of them and stood, closing the gap between the pair and lowering their voice. “Whatever you think you know, you’re wrong.”
The poorly hidden panic gave Alice a pleasurable thrill of excitement.
“Then why do you seem so nervous? I’m just interested to see what Sam thinks.”
“You can’t tell Sam,” Bobby snapped.
“I thought there was nothing to know.” She smirked.
“He will kill Hugo for this, is that what you want?”
Alice just smiled and quirked her head like a curious house cat.
“Are you that pissed that he won’t have you?”
“If I can’t have him no one can.”
Bobby reached out and grabbed her roughly by the arm.
“I won’t let you.”
“And how are you going to stop me?”
Their grip tightened around her arm, their fingers pressing painfully into her skin.
“Don’t do this.”
“Let go of me or I will hurt you.”
“You’re not Hugo. It just comes off cheap when you say it.”
Alice snarled and pushed Bobby hard. They stumbled back dragging her with them. Both bounced off the back of an armchair, sending the table next to it toppling over.
“What the hell is going on here?” Samuel called from his office. Footsteps quickly followed and he was upon them before either could right themselves or the furniture.
“I have something to tell you,” Alice said with a vicious smile.
