Epilogue One

One Year Later - Kelly

As I smooth my hand over the soft satin of my wedding dress, the delicate lace trim hugging my growing baby bump, my dad pats the top of my hand.

“You look beautiful, Kel,” he says, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he smiles at me.

“Thanks, Dad. I can’t believe this is finally happening.”

“I have to admit, I wasn’t thrilled about this at first.” His gaze returns to the road as we approach the quaint little church. “But seeing you and Mac together, and meeting that precious grandson of mine...I know this is right.”

My throat tightens with emotion. “I’m so glad you feel that way. It means the world to me you're here to give me away.”

"I wouldn't have it any other way."

The car parks outside the church, and we step out.

I take a deep, steadying breath as I stare ahead.

This is it. The day I finally get to marry the man I love, the father of my child, and the one growing inside me. Mac and I had a conversation that he didn’t want our son, Pierce, to be an only child, and we agreed to practice right away for baby number two.

The church bells peel and my heart flutters with a dash of nerves and a lot of pure joy.

“Shall we?” Dad offers me his arm, his expression warm and proud.

I nod, linking my arm through his. “Let’s do this.”

As we approach the church doors, I hear the soft strains of the violin drifting out. My stomach flutters with butterflies, but it’s excitement. This is what I want, more than anything in the world.

The heavy wooden doors swing open, and all eyes turn to us. And then I see him…

Mac.

Those butterflies beat harder.

He’s stands at the altar, his gaze locked on mine, and the rest of the world just fades away.

I smile at my husband-to-be as I make my way down the aisle toward him. His adoring expression is the only thing I can focus on.

When we reach the front, Dad places my hand on Mac’s.

“Thanks Dad,” I say. I’m so happy he came round and now he likes Mac more than me, I think.

“It was my pleasure,” Dad says, his eyes glistening with unshed tears as he kisses my cheek and then turns to Mac. “Take care of my little girl,” he murmurs, giving Mac’s free hand a firm shake.

“Always,” Mac promises.

I lean into Mac’s embrace, my heart overflowing with joy as I watch my best friend Piper dancing with her husband, Connor. Her belly is swelling with their first child, and I love the way Connor cradles it tenderly as he presses soft kisses to her neck.

“They look so happy,” I murmur, glancing up at Mac. His eyes are shining with contentment as he watches his daughter.

“They do,” he agrees, his arm tightening around my waist. “Just like us.”

I smile, nestling closer to him. “I’m so glad Piper gave us her blessing. I don’t know what I would have done if she’d never forgiven me.”

Mac presses a kiss to my forehead. “She loves you, Kelly. And she knows how much I love you both.”

A familiar voice interrupts us. “Mac, Kelly.”

I turn to see Mac’s younger brother, Anton, approaching with a glass of bourbon in one hand and our sleeping son, Pierce, cradled in the other.

“Hey, Anton,” Mac greets him. “I was wondering where you’d gotten off to.”

Anton grins, handing the glass to Mac. “Thought you could use this.” His gaze drifts down to the baby in his arms, and a soft smile spreads across his face as he turns to me. “And I couldn’t resist stealing this little guy for a cuddle from your mom.”

Mac chuckles, taking a sip of the amber liquid. “Careful, he’s a real charmer. Might not want to give him back.”

Anton’s eyes twinkle with amusement. “I don’t know. I’m thinking I might want one of my own.” His gaze flickers across the room, and I follow his line of sight to where Scarlett, the daughter of the team’s lawyer, is chatting with a group of guests.

Mac raises a brow. “Oh really? Does anyone catch your eye?”

Anton ducks his head, shifting Pierce in his arms. “Maybe,” he murmurs.

I can’t help but grin, squeezing Mac’s hand. “Well, I think that’s wonderful, Anton.”

Anton nods, his eyes soft as he looks down at the sleeping baby, and says, “Do you...do you think I could do it? Be a dad, I mean?” A hint of vulnerability in his tone.

Mac’s expression softens, and he reaches out to clap Anton on the shoulder. “I think you’d be a wonderful dad, little brother. You just have to meet the one who feels the same way.”

“What if she’s too young for me?” Anton asks sheepishly.

I chuckle. “The age gap couldn’t be any bigger than mine and Mac’s.”

Anton’s shoulders relax, and he nods, a small smile playing on his lips.

“Go and dance,” Mac says, taking Pierce from Anton’s arm. “I need a cuddle with my son.”

“This day is perfect,” I say to Mac as we watch Anton make his way to Scarlett. I turn to him as he holds our sleeping son in his arms. “But how can he sleep through it?”

“Because he’s already the best baby in the world.”

I press my hand over my growing bump. “I bet this one makes up for it.”

Mac laughs. “I’m looking forward to having lots of giggles filling our home.”

“But I’m going to look for a job when this one is a year old. Don’t be getting all broody again.”

He leans low and whispers in my ear, “I just like the thought of breeding you.”

I mouth. “Oh. My. God.”

Mac laughs. “I like your pussy being bathed in my cum.”

My face heats up so quickly that I know it's bright red, and everyone in the party must notice too. “Stop it.”

Embarrassed, I turn to the dance floor. It’s a sea of love and laughter, our friends, and family celebrating our union.

Nate and his wife Chloe are swaying nearby, their own pregnancy glow radiating. Oliver and Taylor have their hands full, their rambunctious kids darting between the guests, squealing with delight.

Most of the hockey players are here with their wives or girlfriends, and their children.

“I can’t.” His sexy voice is in my ear again. “I love being inside you. I love how we fit together. I love—You.”

Smiling, I turn to Mac. “I love you.” I gaze up at him, my eyes shining with tears of joy.

He chuckles, his muscular arms tightening around me. “In all seriousness, I can’t think of a more perfect day. You’ve made me the luckiest man alive, Kelly.”

I rise on my tiptoes, pressing a soft kiss to his lips. “And you’ve given me the most precious gift of all.”

Our foreheads rest together, and for a moment, it’s as if we’re the only two people in the world.

As the noise and bustle of the reception fades away, I focus on the love shining in Mac’s eyes when a sudden commotion near the entrance pulls us from our reverie.

We turn to see Nate rushing to Mac, his hand holding Chloe’s tight and a wide grin on his face as he holds out his cell.

“Oscar’s just called. It’s a boy!” he announces of his team mate who couldn't come to the wedding because his wife went into early labor. “Nadia’s fine, and the little guy is perfectly healthy.”

A cheer goes up from the crowd.

“That’s so beautiful.” I whisper.

“You’re beautiful.” Mac leans in, his lips brushing my ear. “And you’ve made my life, Kelly, and now I’m going to give you everything.”

I know he will. I’ll give him everything, too.

My heart swells with the promise of our future.
