Chapter 20
T he moment she moved, he pulled her in, enveloping her within the warmth of his body as his lips pressed against hers.
This kiss wasn’t the gentle one from his apartment, it was a statement of everything he felt.
Love. Passion. Faithfulness. Endurance.
It was the kind of kiss that some women waited their entire lives to get and often never did.
When they parted, Emily was in tears.
“What’s the matter?” he asked gently, brushing her cheek with his gloved hand. The soft fabric was like down against her skin.
“I’m happy, but so scared, all at the same time,” she admitted, wrapping her arms around his waist, her head against his chest. She felt his hand against her head, stroking her hair.
“There’s no need to be afraid. I’m right here, and I’m not going anywhere. I’m not letting you go, not ever again.”
“What does this mean though?” she asked, through tearful smiles.
“It means some love is meant to be. Doesn’t matter how many years you have to wait for it. When it’s right, the time comes and everything falls into place. Just like it is for us now. Now we just have to write the rest of the story.”
“Where will it lead?” she questioned.
“To a happy ending, I hope,” Patrick teased softly before kissing her again.
