20. Cassie

S eeing Allie tonight freaked me out. I didn’t know she worked there. We usually don’t talk about our lives outside the club. Allie and I are both submissives for Theo, so I guess it is kind of like a poly relationship, even though we are mostly there just for Theo. Too much of my hidden life is seeping into my regular life lately. I am hoping Lucian bought that shit and drops it. Fuck, she better not tell Theo she saw me with another guy. I need to explain who I was with before he thinks I am seeing other guys behind his back. I’m not sure whether he would be pissed or not since outside relationships weren’t something brought up in the contract, but still, I don’t want him thinking Lucian and I are anything more than friends. I have told him about Lucian and how close we are. He did question our friendship as something more, but then he seemed to understand. Also, one of Theo’s rules is that Allie and I can’t meet up without him, so I hope he wouldn’t think that is what we did if she told him she had seen me.

I let my body relax in the hot water for a bit longer than I originally thought I would. It feels amazing. I let the steam wrap around me and wash away any trace of that hospital. I despise hospitals. They have terrified me ever since I was a kid. My grandma went in because of a headache and never left. My last memories of her are horrible. She was hooked up to so many tubes and wires she had lost so much weight from the sickness. The annoying beeping noise still haunts me in my dreams, and I can still hear the death rattle as she took her last breaths. It was traumatizing for a 10-year-old. I push away the memory and finish getting dried off and dressed. No cuddling tonight; I can’t risk a repeat of this morning! Even though I secretly would love it.

I walk out to the front room and see that Lucian is deep in thought with his notebook. Forehead creased, lips pursed, pencil flying across the page a mile a minute. I come to sit next to him on the couch, trying to sneak a look at what he is working on. Hell yes! The new campaign. He realizes I’m hovering and snaps the book closed.

“No peeking. You will ruin the surprise.” He scolds me like a child. How dare he! And how dare my body respond the way it is. His deep voice caused my nipples to harden and rub against my shirt. I shift to not let him see how he affected me.

“Awe, come on, Lucian. Just one peek! Please.” I bat my eyelashes and give him my best puppy dog look. He rolls his eyes and hands me over the notebook.

“Ugh, fine. I hate those manipulative looks you give.”

“Lies, you know you love my puppy dog eyes,” I smirk and snatch it from his hands.

I open it back up to find a brand-new campaign. He only lets me read the setting and premise for it, but damn does it sound good. Mountain town, Ogres, elf colony, missing people that leave no trace as to where they went. Hell to the yes! I’ve been dying for a new campaign.

My phone suddenly dings.

“It’s just me in the group chat. I wanted to see if they would be down for Friday. Everyone would need to have a character made by then, so it should be fine. It is going to be a good one. I’ve been working on it for a few weeks to get everything exactly right.” He looks so proud. And he should be. He is such a damn good dungeon master, always so creative.

I might change things up this time. I’m sick of being the predictable, lawfully good, and honestly dull character. Time to spice it up. Not necessarily a murder hobo, as we like to joke. That would be Ash. But since I’ve learned a lot about myself these last few months, maybe I can put some of those character traits into my new character. I can definitely be a wild one when I let loose, so it’s time for my character to stop being such a good girl in D&D.

Awesome, D&D on Friday, and then on Saturday, Theo is taking me to Vixens for a private event. He said it was a surprise. The only thing I know is that I have to dress fancy. I have a long black dress and my Louboutin’s to match that Theo ordered for me as a gift. I do love being spoiled by him. I’ve never usually worn heels, but damn, do those make me feel sexy.

“Where are we going to do the campaign? Here or your place.” I ask.

“Shit, I didn’t think about that. Um, if you're cool with it, could you help me air out my place and get it cleaned up so we can do it there?”

“Of course. When we get up, we can run to the store, get all the supplies, and then spend the day getting our place sparkly clean. I can clean one-handed.” I laugh. My shoulder is definitely still throbbing in pain, but I think I can muster dusting and vacuuming with just one hand.

“But Cass, you are defective as fuck right now. How much can you even do with one hand.” He teases me.

“Listen here, mister. I can do a lot of stuff one-handed.” I instantly regret how I phrased that. My cheeks flush, and he gets a devilish grin on his face.

“Oh, I’ll be the one to judge that,” he says in a deep voice. Oh God I could melt from the way he is looking at me. There was way too much sexual implication laced into that statement, and it made my stomach flip. Damnit, we need to find a movie so I can distract myself. I flip on Netflix and scroll through horror.

“Have you seen The Black Phone?” I ask. I heard it was amazing, but I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet.

“No, but I wanted to. Put it on. Oh, do you have popcorn?”

“Yep, cabinet next to the stove.”

My apartment fills with the delicious scent of butter and popcorn. He plops down next to me with the bowl in his lap. Grabbing a handful of popcorn, I can’t help but picture one of those horribly scripted pornos. You know, the ones where they have a hole in the bottom of the bucket for the guy’s dick to go through. That thought distracts me through the entire movie!
