SELENA
I t’s been a whirlwind of changes since that dreadful night several weeks ago when Stan attacked me at my apartment. I decided I didn’t want to go back, so my guys had the place packed up and my things moved into storage. We’re still shuffling around like nomads and rotating between their three homes. But we’ve at least discussed moving in together and we all agreed it would be the best solution. Not sure when that’ll happen, but I’m trying my best to be patient. It’s a little annoying having three of everything, but they paid for it, so I guess I can’t complain.
They also footed the bill when I visited my mom last week. I assured them I didn’t need their money for the trip, but since they tagged along—even though I begged them not to—I suppose it was only fair. To say my mother was shocked to see them would be an understatement. But she surprisingly took it in stride when I tried explaining our relationship to her. I’m not sure she understood how it all works, but I think she got the gist of it. And she promised she was happy for me as long as I was happy with them. I confirmed I couldn’t be more ecstatic.
Breaking the news to Ms. Abernathy was another shock I wasn’t prepared for. I was wrought with anxiety for days, not sure how she’d take it or what she’d think of me. But for the first time, I saw the typically reserved woman roll her eyes, as if we were sharing old news and she had better things to do than gossip about our love lives. However, she gave each of us a stern warning about not wanting to see any shenanigans in the office. We’ve tried our best to heed her caution, but I’d be lying if I said she hasn’t caught us a time or two.
I admit their open affection takes some getting used to. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I’d find three men who love me as much as I love them. Finding one partner is hard enough, but I feel like I’ve hit the lottery with Chance, Brody, and Noah. And I know they feel the same way about me. I have no idea what the future holds for us and our unconventional relationship. But I’m eager to figure it out as long as I have them by my side.
Noah opens his door and pokes his head out. “Can you come here for a second, please?”
I grab a pen and paper and make my way to his office. When I step inside, he’s packing up his bag and I look at my watch. That’s odd. It’s only a few minutes after three and I don’t recall him having any offsite meetings today.
“Going somewhere?” I ask.
“ We’re going somewhere.”
My brow furrows and I tilt my head.
“We’re taking the rest of the day off,” he explains, and my mouth drops open.
“We’re what?” Surely, I didn’t hear him correctly because Noah Kincaid never leaves early.
“Get your things, honey. Chance and Brody are already waiting for us downstairs.”
My chest tightens and my pulse picks up. “What’s wrong?”
His features soften as he strides over to me. “Nothing’s wrong. I promise.” He tugs me in for a hug and kisses the top of my head.
“Does this have something to do with Stan? Did they drop the charges or something?”
Noah pulls back to look at me with his hands on my shoulders. “Absolutely not. I assure you that asshole will never be able to hurt you again. There’s no way he’ll get out of this.”
“Okay, then what’s going on?”
“Can’t we surprise you? I swear you’ll like it.” His eyes light up like a kid on Christmas while he looks at me, but my gaze narrows.
“You don’t like surprises and you never take time off.”
“Well, maybe you’re rubbing off on me.”
I’m still unsure what they’re up to but I’ll go along with it.
“Now, c’mon. They’re waiting for us.” He grabs his bag and ushers me out the door.
“What about Ms. Abernathy?” I ask while he nudges me toward my desk.
He turns to address her instead of responding to me. “We have an appointment to get to. A personal one.” He grins. “Why don’t you take the rest of the afternoon off?”
She eyes him suspiciously before glancing at me, and I blush. Without saying a word, she collects her things and heads out for the day.
“Well, that was easier than I thought it’d be.”
“She’s probably sick of us and looking forward to being away.” I gather my belongings and lock my computer screen.
“You’re probably right. Let’s go.”
We take the elevator down to the parking garage where we find the others waiting next to Noah’s black Bentley Bentayga. It’s a far cry from my small two-door vehicle, but I can’t complain when I get to ride in luxury. Brody and Chance both kiss me hello. Then Brody opens the back passenger door and helps me inside before circling around the back and taking the seat next to me. We pull out of the garage and onto the main road.
Curiosity gets the best of me and I ask, “Where are we going?”
Chance looks back at me from the front seat. “You’ll just have to wait and see, beautiful.” His usually charming smile only annoys me right now as the three of them refuse to tell me anything.
As I pout in my seat and watch the scenery change, I tune out their voices while they discuss work. Shops and restaurants zip by, and the cityscape fades into residential communities. Are we leaving the city ?
Noah turns onto an almost hidden side road, driving for a few miles before stopping at a towering iron gate. A security guard exits a small booth at the far side of the gate and approaches our vehicle. “Afternoon, Mr. Kincaid.”
“Hi, Travis. We’re just stopping by for a few minutes.”
“Take your time. The place is all yours.” The guard winks at Noah, then opens the gate.
We ride down a secluded driveway, and I lean over to Brody. “What is this place?” I whisper.
“Nope.” He shakes his head. “Not yet, pretty girl.” And I pinch my lips with frustration.
We’re moving along the path through a thick forest when suddenly the trees clear and reveal an opulent mansion. I gasp as I stare out the window. No one says anything until Noah pulls into the circular drive and parks the car.
“Let’s take a look inside, shall we?” He exits the driver’s seat and assists me out of the vehicle.
I’m awestruck when he unlocks the door and we step into the palatial estate. “Whose house is this?” I ask, twirling around to take in the luxurious furnishings and spectacular decor.
“It’s ours, beautiful.” Chance sweeps me into his arms and spins me around.
When he places me back on my feet, my head is light and my heart is giddy. “You guys are moving in here?” I’m filled with wonder as I take everything in.
“ We’re moving in here,” Brody corrects. “Do you like it?”
My eyes grow as wide as saucers. “You mean all of us?”
He laughs and tugs me into his comforting embrace. “I love you, pretty girl. Don’t ever change.” This isn’t the first time he’s told me he loves me, but my stomach flutters whenever one of them says it.
“This way.” Noah nods to the massive staircase, and I follow behind him with the others in tow. He takes me on a brief tour, showing me all the bedrooms, the private marina, pool, gym, and home theater. There’s more to see, but my head’s whirling, so we stop in the gourmet kitchen for some water.
“I… I can’t believe… When did you?—”
“We’ve been talking about it for a while,” he confesses. “Not long after we started spending so much time together, I wondered if you might need some space of your own. Not because you wanted to be away from us or us from you. But understanding we all might need some downtime every now and then.”
I smile at him affectionately, relieved he could see what I needed even before I asked. “So you bought this place? Because you couldn’t find anything bigger?” I joke.
“If you want something bigger, then I’ll happily build it for you.” He grabs me by the waist and pulls our bodies together. “We’ll give you anything you want as long as you’re ours.”
I gaze into his intense blue eyes. “I’m yours for as long as you’ll have me.”
“That settles it,” Brody exclaims with his signature boyish grin. “I guess we’re getting married.”
“Wait. What?” I sputter before glancing at each of them.
Chance admonishes his friend. “We said we’d wait to ask her.”
“But I’m not asking,” Brody clarifies and coaxes me away from Noah’s arms. “I love you. We all do. And I know you love us.”
“More than anything,” I confirm.
“I don’t know what it’ll look like or how we’ll make it happen, but we want you to be our wife. We want a family with you.”
“You want kids?” This is the first he’s mentioned it, but I’m not shocked. Brody is the most nurturing of the three and I know he’ll make a great dad. Each of them would and I’d happily have a family with them.
“We do, beautiful. But only if that’s what you want,” Chance explains.
“I haven’t really thought about it before.”
Noah caresses my cheek with his warm palm. “You don’t have to answer today. About the family, or marriage, or even the house. We can keep things just the way they are for as long as you want.”
I know in my heart he means what he says. But I also know he’d be devastated if I said no to any of those things. And, honestly, so would I. I love them so much. I couldn’t bear to be without them. When I really picture it, the image of being their wife and starting a family fills a hole in my heart that I didn’t know I had. The answer is easy and I don’t need to think about it.
“I guess we better find you a new assistant then. We’ve got some moving to do and a very interesting wedding to plan.”
