Allegra
Three years later…
“ B oth children are bathed and in bed, principessa .” My husband tells me as he steps into the library, in a pair of grey sweatpants and nothing else.
Smiling up at him, I frown when I notice the tired look on his face. The last three years have been hectic to say the least. Especially when the twins arrived. Yes, twins. When we first found out I was pregnant, never in my wildest dreams did I expect to hear the words two heartbeats at my first scan. Despite being a shock to both of us, considering there was no history of twins on either side, we were excited all the same. As was our family.
Our babies, Lucia and Luis Vitale were born on a cold, wet, March morning, and every day since they came into the world has been a revelation. It was the first and only time I have seen my husband cry. Real tears rolled down his cheeks as he held them for the first time. He is the best daddy and husband I could ask for, and I thank God every day for that random twist of fate that brought him back into my life.
Without a doubt in my mind, I know I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for him.
“The terrible twos are exhausting,” I state, sliding my bookmark in place so I don’t lose my page, and popping my book down on the side table.
Dante closes the distance between us, grabbing me under the arms and lifting me. He drops down in the big, plush armchair, positioning me on his lap. I curl up, laying my head on his chest and breathing in his clean masculine scent.
He presses a kiss to my hair. “I know. But I wouldn’t change them for the world.”
“Me either.” I sigh, snuggling into him and taking in our surroundings.
After we married for the second time, Nico gifted us one of the houses on the grounds of the estate. Though it’s small compared to the main house, with its four bedrooms, library, lounge, kitchen and dining room, it’s perfect for us. We could have bought elsewhere, but after many discussions, we decided it was safer for all of us to live here with all the protection it provided us. After all, my brother was still a ruthless mafia Don, with many enemies waiting to use any one of us to seek revenge at any given time.
It also worked out when Dante and Nico had to go into the city on business. Even if it was only for a night, or even a couple hours, I didn’t want to be in a house on my own. At least living on the Estate, with a quick walk across the yard, I had Ocean, Mamma, and my nieces and nephews. I also love the fact that my children get to grow up with my brothers’ children. We are a close family and that’s how I want it to remain.
“I love you,” Dante murmurs, stroking soft circles on the scar at my waist with his thumb. It took a while, but he no longer freaks out about the mark. We both look at it as a small reminder of what we overcame.
That we fought to be where we are now, and we won.
Nothing or no one, will ever change that.
“I love you, too.” I press a kiss to his bare chest.
He stills, and I wait patiently for him to say whatever is on his mind. He clears his throat. “What do you think about having another one?”
Smiling, I look up, catching his eyes. I have been waiting for this conversation to happen. Dante has been hinting for a couple months now about trying for another baby. Of course, I want to add to our family. I have just been waiting for Dante to speak up about it.
“I want to,” I tell him honestly.
He breathes a sigh of relief, brushing his lips against mine. “Well then. Get your sexy ass up the stairs. Not only am I going to fuck you until I put my baby inside you, but I figured we could try out some of that shit you read about in those porn books of yours.” My cheeks heat and I glance over at the book on the table.
It’s not porn, but it definitely has plenty of…smut.
He chuckles, thumbing my cheeks. “Come on, angel, you don’t have to be embarrassed. I have seen every part of your perfect body and been in every hole. Now let’s go and make baby number three before we change our minds.” He rises from the chair with me in his arms.
Striding out of the library, he climbs the stairs, taking two at a time.
My heart soars.
This man.
The man I thought was lost to me forever but came back to me.
Because no matter how many people tried to change fate, or put obstacles in front of us, we proved that it was impossible to keep us apart.
Dante is my everything.
My world.
My eternity.
The man I know I would find in every lifetime, in every universe.
And nothing or no one will change that.
The end.
