Chapter 18

Chapter

Eighteen

ELLIE

N ico and Aurora give us some space, so Vincent and I go to his bedroom.

Well, our bedroom now, I guess. We’ve never had the chance to have a bedroom together. My father made that impossible.

But my father isn’t here now.

He’s somewhere, probably planning something. At this moment, though, I don’t want to worry about it.

“Vincent, what’s happening? Your father killed the assassin. Some man named Dimitri hired the assassins.”

Vincent tenses. “Dimitri is Igor’s brother. That must have been why the assassins wanted to stop me from winning—he didn’t want me to meet my real father. But now I have.”

We sit down on the bed together, and he takes my hands in his. “Ellie, are you ok?”

“I’m ok now that I’m with you. I’m just glad to be out of that house. My father made it stifling.”

“You don’t have to worry about him.”

“How can I not? He’s not dead, Vincent. And I don’t even know how I’ll feel if he does die.”

“You have me. That’s what matters.”

I rest my head against his shoulder, feeling his strength, smelling his scent, hearing his even breath. “Vincent, I could have died tonight. Your father saved me.”

His arms around me tighten. “It should’ve been me who saved you.”

“That doesn’t matter. My point is I could’ve died and never gotten the chance to be with you fully.” I pull back to stare into his eyes. “I want to be with you, Vincent. I know my father forced us into a marriage then kept us apart. It was his way of controlling the situation. But I don’t want to be controlled by him forever. I want to make my own choices. So, I want to be with you. Fully.”

His eyes turn darker. “I want that, too.”

“So, then, kiss me. Make me feel safe.”

He gently takes my face in his hands and kisses me with so much passion and sweetness I could almost cry.

Slowly, we lie down on the bed. Neither of us rushes. We don’t have to hide for once. Aurora made it clear we could have some time to ourselves without being disturbed, and we’re going to finally take it.

I clutch Vincent’s back, desperate for more. He’s given me a taste of what we can do, from his hands and tongue, but I want to feel it all.

Vincent rolls me onto my back and stares down at me with hooded eyes. I tremble slightly, and he touches my waist, calming me down. “I’ve got you.”

He grabs the end of my dress and shifts it up my body until it’s completely off. We’ve seen each other naked before. I’m not nervous.

As I lie there in my bra and panties, Vincent looks me over like he could eat me alive. A gush of arousal hits me, and I clench my legs together.

“I need you,” I whisper. “I need this.”

“God, I need you, too, Ellie.” He kisses me deeply as his hands roam over my body. When he cups my breasts, I moan softly, arching into his hands. He unclasps my bra and tosses it onto the ground. Next goes my underwear.

“It’s not fair. You’re not naked.”

Vincent gives me a little smile as he stands up and takes his clothes off. The sight of his bare body will never not turn me on.

He notices how I press my legs together. “You need a release? I can give that to you.” He spreads my legs wide and touches my sensitive nub, practically making my hips jump to the ceiling.

“Vincent,” I moan softly. “Oh, I need you.”

“I know. I’ve needed you for a long time, too.”

He presses firmly onto my clit, sending pleasure shooting through my body. My hips arch up, and he presses down. His rubs are gentle yet powerful.

“I need more,” I tell him. “I want to have all of you, Vincent. No more waiting.”

He doesn’t ask me if I’m sure. He trusts me at my word that I mean what I say, and no one has ever done that before.

Vincent settles between my legs, his erection so close to my entrance. My body tingles at the sensation.

After wrapping his arms around my body and pressing us chest to chest, he finally enters me.

I gasp, clutching his back. Vincent goes slow so as to not hurt me. There’s a slight discomfort, but it passes as he goes deeper.

Then he’s fully seated inside me. Our foreheads touch, and we share a smile as we lock eyes. Nothing could be better than this. To fully be with the man I love is like nothing in this world.

“Vincent, I love you,” I tell him.

His eyes widen briefly before he smiles again. “I love you, too.”

Then he begins to move. Slowly at first, then more forceful. His hips shift back and forth at a gentle pace, letting me catch up. Soon, I’m bringing my hips up to meet his.

Neither of us speaks. We only look into each other’s eyes and stay present in the moment.

Vincent grabs my thighs and hoists them higher around his hips, bringing us even closer. I wrap my legs around him and just feel.

Our breath comes out in pants. Our skin is hot and sweaty. Everything is perfect.

He grinds his hips against mine, shooting another spike of arousal through me. Our pace increases. We’re desperate for this moment.

“Vincent,” I moan softly.

He groans as he thrusts into me harder. I hold onto him with everything I have.

And then I’m falling over.

I gasp as my orgasm hits me, my hips bucking up to reach his. Vincent holds me close as he comes next. We stay in each other’s arms for a long time, both of us trembling.

“Are you all right?” he asks.

“I should be asking you that. You’re trembling.”

“That’s because I’ve never had sex with someone I loved before. And I love you, Ellie. I just want us to spend our lives together without anyone getting in the way.”

“I want that too. So much, Vincent.”

Our next kiss is slow and a little sloppy because we’re tired, but I couldn’t have enjoyed it more.

VINCENT

Ellie and I leave our bedroom after our night together. I’ve never felt this close to someone. I find myself constantly having a hand on her just to make sure this is real.

My parents are in the kitchen at the table.

Nico gives me a nod. “Son. We should talk about what happened.”

“We should.”

I leave Ellie with Aurora—the two seem to be getting along well for such a short time of knowing each other—and follow my father into his office.

“I am sorry,” are the first words out of his mouth. “I shouldn’t have locked you up. I have some trust issues, you see.”

“I shouldn’t have tried to kill you.”

“You were just trying to save your wife.”

“Thank you, for getting her out of that house.” I bow my head. “I wasn’t able to.”

He places his hand on my shoulder. “You would have done it if I hadn’t locked you up in my cell. Don’t beat yourself up about that. We’ve missed years together, Vincent. It’s going to take time for us to truly trust each other. I’m guessing life with Igor wasn’t easy.”

“It wasn’t.”

“And life without you wasn’t easy.”

“How come you and … Mom didn’t have more children after I was gone?”

He sighs and leans against his desk. “Your mom has trouble conceiving. It was from an attack that happened to her years ago. Her crazy aunt stabbed her in the stomach.”

“Jesus.”

“Yeah. It made conceiving very challenging. We tried after you were gone, but we were unable to. You’re my son, Vincent. I want to make things right with you. So, I propose we go after Ellie’s father and Dimitri and take them down. Let us work together.”

For the first time since meeting Nico, I start to feel like I’m home with him.

“I like that,” I say.

He nods once. “Good. So, let’s go get the bad guys.”
