I followed Aurora as she walked toward the dimly lit Oasis Martini Bar. After our short dance lesson, we met everyone else to go to the port and spent the day hanging out on the beach. We decided to have dinner before coming back to the ship, and now we were meeting to have a cocktail and watch the ship sail away.

Once again I picked Aurora up at her cabin door. It wasn’t the same as when we were younger and I picked her up at her house, but for now, this was the closest I could get.

She looked breathtaking. She had changed out of her cream bathing suit and was now in a black strapless dress that went to just below her knees. It had large flowers that accentuated her waist and clung to each of her curves. If that wasn’t sexy enough the damn thing also had a split that went up to her thigh. I had come close to picking her up in my arms, and slamming the door behind me when I saw her. I swear I have been hard ever since.

What didn’t help were the other men noticing her. I wasn’t a jealous person, but I wanted to knock every single one of these assholes to the ground. “Welcome to Oasis.” The woman behind the hostess counter greeted us. “Do you have a reservation?”

“It should be under Dickinson.” I informed her. Maybe I would get lucky and everyone else wouldn’t be here just yet. That way I could sit down before they had a chance to see Aurora’s effect on me.

“Right this way.” She led us through the bar.

The place was nicely decorated. There were velvet booths and opulent decor all around, but the real draw was the glowing onyx bar top. It gave the place a sense of elegance and sophistication that reminded me of what I imagined an old speakeasy might have looked like.

I let Aurora slide into the booth first, then followed. I still made sure I was as close as possible to her.

“And are you Mr. Adler?” The hostess asked as she put down a small menu.

“Yes.”

“This is for you.” She handed me a folded note. “Enjoy your evening.”

I opened the note and recognized my sister’s handwriting easily.

I should have seen this coming, but honestly, I wasn’t mad about it. I would take advantage of any chance to be alone with Aurora.

“So, it looks like it’s just the two of us tonight.” I leaned closer to her so she would hear me over the soft music playing. I handed her the note so she could read it herself.

Her shoulders fell when she got to the end. “You do know she has been trying to push us together since the flight down here, right?”

“I sort of figured.” Again, I wasn’t mad about it. “Let me guess. She booked you on my flight on purpose.”

“Yes.”

I picked up Aurora’s hand and held it close to my bottom lip. “I always knew I loved her for a reason.” I let my mouth run over her skin.

“Good evening.” A waiter interrupted the moment. “What can I get you?”

“Whisky, straight.” I didn’t take my eyes away from Aurora.

“Dirty martini.” She told him.

I waited a few moments to make sure he was gone before I closed the centimeters that separated us. The left side of her body was flush against mine.

“Did I mention how beautiful you look tonight?”

“No.” Her voice was all breathy. Not quite as soft and airy as when we made love, but close enough that I had to stifle a groan at the sound of it.

“You look beautiful.” I smiled. “I love the dress.”

“Thank you.”

I dropped her hand and placed mine under the table on the part of her skin exposed by the slit in the dress. I placed my face against hers and made sure my lips were right next to her ear.

“I’d love it better if it was on the floor at the foot of my bed.” I let my lips trail down her neck to the spot on her shoulder I knew she liked.

“Yes, we do.” She pressed on my shoulder. I backed away slightly.

The waiter chose that moment to come back with our drinks. Again I didn’t take my eyes away from her. She was the only thing I cared about in the room. Hell, on this ship.

“What are you scared of?” I finally asked. We were never going to have a second chance if we didn’t deal with the past.

“I know I fucked up before.” I admitted to her. “ But I promise you I’m not that kid that let you go before, and I don’t ever want to be without you again.”

She shook her head. “Seeley, don’t. It wasn’t just you.” She admitted. “I could have called you too, or at least not blocked your number. I was just so hurt and angry. It felt like I had already lost my dream, and with you gone, it was like the one person holding me together was lost too.”

Her words sliced through me, and I pushed tears to the back of my eyes.

“I’m so sorry Aurora. I can’t tell you how sorry I am, baby.” I brought both my hands up to cup her face. I wanted her to see how deeply I meant those words. They weren’t enough. They would never be enough, but they were the best I could give her. And if she needed them, I would give them everyday .

“I never meant to hurt you. Never. All I ever wanted was to make you happy.” I took a deep breath and laid everything on the line. “I wanted to marry you and spend my life with you.” She drew in a breath. Her eyes moved rapidly between mine. “I still want to marry you.”

“I love you Aurora. I’ve never loved anyone other than you. Never wanted anyone else in my heart. In my life. In my bed.” I paused. “I hate that it took my sister to bring us back together, and yet, I’m so glad she did. I would have spent the rest of my life wishing you were still beside me. I don’t want to do that. I want to know that you are there.”

“I want to laugh with you and cry with you. I want to hold your hand and be there when you need me. I don’t want to hear secondhand what is going on in your life. I want to hear it from you. I want my wins to be your wins and vice versa.” I dropped my forehead to hers. “I want to fall asleep with you in my arms and wake up with you next to me.” I took in a deep breath. “I want to have kids with you.”

It was something we talked about once. We lay in bed picking out names that we both liked since neither of us had ever really liked our own. We both felt Seeley and Aurora were too old-fashioned. I still remembered those names, and I wanted those children. I wanted them with her.

“Seeley.” She had her hands around my neck.

“If you don’t still love me then tell me.” I pulled back so our eyes were locked together. “Tell me and I will let you go. But if there is even a small part of your heart that still belongs to me I will do everything in my power to win you back. To prove to you that I will never hurt you again.”

There were tears sliding down her face, and I captured them all with my lips. The taste of her skin was just as sweet as I remembered. Better for missing it.

“I’m scared.” She admitted. “I don’t want to give this a chance and lose you again. I don’t think my heart could take it.”

“That’s not going to happen, baby.” I shook my head. “Do you really think I’m dumb enough to fuck this up again?”

She chuckled. “You can have your moments.”

I laughed along with her. “Not this time. This time is for keeps.” I pulled her mouth to mine.
