I never thought it would be possible to be this in love with a woman.
Then again, Stella has a habit of surprising me every chance she gets. It’s something I’ve come to love about my wife.
As I sit up and swing my legs over the edge of the bed, I can't help but smile. Stella’s already left for work which is different. I’m, usually, always the first one out of the door, but she’s been so excited to get there early ever since she was promoted head nurse.
To be honest, I’d been half expecting her to quit her job whenever we got married. Even if we got divorced, despite the fact that she’d only get a small percentage of my net worth, she’d have more than enough to live off of. But, Stella has always made it clear that she isn’t with me for the money; besides, I think she genuinely enjoys working.
I make my way downstairs, the wooden floorboards cool beneath my bare feet. My morning routine begins with brewing a fresh pot of coffee – strong and dark, just the way Stella likes it. I pour myself a cup, cradling the mug in my hands as I take a seat at the kitchen table.
A soft chime rings out from my phone on the table. I glance down to see a text message from Stella, her teasing words putting an instant smile on my face.
I wish I hadn’t had to leave so early. I’m missing you like crazy.
Feeling that familiar warmth in my chest, I quickly type back, playfully upping the ante.
Come home then.
Hmm…I wish I could. I guess I’ll just have to think about what you did last night.
I can't help but grin as I read Stella's suggestive message. My fingers dance across the screen as I type a response.
If you start getting me excited and don’t come home, I’ll have to punish you.
I like the sound of that.
Of course you do, my naughty girl.
You taught me well, my billionaire bully.
The nickname was slowly wearing on me.
Before I can respond, I see the three little dots pop back up, indicating that she’s typing again, so I wait to see what else she has to say.
There’s something else…I’m pregnant.
I don’t take her text seriously at first, but the more I think about it; the more reality starts to set in. A thousand thoughts race through my mind, each more overwhelming than the last. Is this really happening? Are we truly about to start our family together?
Are you serious?
Are you mad?
Am I mad? Is she kidding? I’m ecstatic!
I want nothing more than to have a family with you, Stella Lombardi.
I was a bit worried about your reaction, but I’m happy. I can’t believe I’ll be a mother.
You’ll be the best one there is. I guess it’s time for me to start sharing you.
You have nine months to learn.
I smirk, as I read her message. She’s right. I have nine more months to take advantage of my wife’s attention.
After that, we’d be a family.
I never thought I’d have more than one kid, but with Stella, I’d do anything.
