Chapter Forty-Five

Wreck

Last night went off without a hitch, just like I knew it would.

The Jacobson family is the most loving family I’ve ever met.

I don’t know why Wrath and Flame didn’t see the acceptance coming, but I guess sometimes people can just get stuck in their own heads and overthink everything.

I don’t expect a different reaction from the entire club when they arrive soon and announce the baby.

They’re not here yet, as Sera had a scan this morning.

Something about checking on the baby’s growth and maybe finding out the sex.

I don’t know; I’m clueless about all this stuff.

Never had to know about it.

Everyone is here in The Common Room waiting for them to arrive.

They all know Wrath has something to announce but don’t have the faintest idea of what it is.

I doubt anyone has guessed they’re going to be announcing a baby.

Shadow, Blaze, and myself are all standing together at the bar.

We know what’s coming after all and don’t want to accidentally give anything away with our excitement.

I say our excitement, but what I really mean is Shadow’s.

The man isn’t known for keeping what he’s feeling inside and hidden.

He’s like an excitable puppy right now.

I can’t help but find him adorable —not like I’m going to tell him that, though.

I learned my lesson about describing him that way a long time ago.

The Common Room doors open, and Wrath, Flame, Sera, and Blade walk through.

Cam is the only person who went with them who is missing.

More than likely dropped off at school.

Now that he was officially back in school, I very much doubt either of his parents wanted him missing more time than need be.

I can’t help but have to double take at the group when I catch the looks on their faces.

Wrath and Flame look well; the only way to describe it would be shell-shocked.

Blade looks like he’s barely holding himself together, like he wants to burst out laughing and wouldn’t be able to stop if he started.

Then there’s Sera, who just looks normal, if not a little bit amused, but unlike her partner, she seems to be holding herself together a hell of a lot better.

What the hell happened at their appointment for them all to have these reactions?

Obviously it’s nothing bad with the way Sera and Blade seem, but what the hell has shocked Wrath and Flame so much?

Shadow doesn’t wait for them to get more than a few steps into the room before he’s barreling towards them.

Yep, that’s about right.

My excitable puppy is officially out of patience and probably wants to know why they’re all acting the way they are.

Myself and Blaze follow Shadow over at a much slower and calmer pace.

The rest of the gathering have all stopped what they were doing and have focused their attention on the four who have just entered.

By the time I reach the group, Shadow and Wrath are already talking, and whatever Wrath mumbles, I can’t make out, but whatever it is, sets Blade off.

He’s literally laughing so hard now he’s doubled over his hands on his knees.

When he lifts his head to look at us, he’s got tears streaming down his face.

What the hell? Has he lost his freaking mind? Sera looks at him, shaking her head.

Okay, the little smile shows she’s not really annoyed with him.

More amused.

I want to know what Wrath said to set him off like this. This isn’t a typical Blade reaction at all.

Shadow’s staring at his brother, his mouth opening and shutting like a fish.

Clearly shocked by whatever Wrath said that we didn’t hear.

“Okay.

What did we miss?” I ask as I glance around the group.

Wrath nor Flame seem in the frame of mind to speak.

Blade is no use to anyone in his hysterical state.

Leaving poor Sera to be the one to speak.

She blows out a breath before addressing everyone.

“Right, clearly these three are going to be useless right now, so I’ll be doing the talking.” She starts shaking her head at all three men.

“I’m pregnant with Wrath and Flames children.” She announces, which earns her a massive roar of cheers.

Wait.

Hold on a minute.

Did she say children? I’m not the only one who caught it either.

Blaze looks at his eldest son, taking in the way he’s acting, and joins Blade in laughing his ever-loving head off.

“Children?” I ask.

“Yep. Twins. Boys.” Flame manages to speak.

Even if it is only one-word sentences.

Their shell-shocked expressions make total sense now, and so does Blade laughing his head off.

Oh wow.

Not one baby, but two.

Twins just like Wrath and Shadow.

Oh, they are so going to have their hands full when those little ones grow up.

They both know it too.

Wrath is well aware of the way he and Shadow were growing up, and it’s not like Flame doesn’t know either. He had a front-row seat to the majority of their antics.

Hopefully that means they’re more prepared for what’s to come than poor Blaze was.

Shadow isn’t laughing; nope, my love is jumping up and down in joy over the news.

What did I expect though, really? He’s probably planning just how much he can spoil two babies instead of one.

Those kids aren’t going to know what the hell has hit them when they are born.

The amount of love they’re going to receive is going to be endless.

Just the way it should be.

I’m such a lucky man to be part of all this, to be part of this family.
