Kali
Opening our eyes, I'm standing in the area between the kitchen and the living room. Blaze and Ryan are arguing. I can't make out their words as I'm still trying to situate myself.
Aaron is still seated at the counter, eyeing me skeptically. Blaze is accusing Layla and he’s not wrong, but he doesn’t have all the facts. He doesn’t know that she can't control it any more than she could before. Hopefully, she'll just learn to enjoy the thrill of this crazy ride.
I’m trying to plan my exit route before I kill Blaze for mouthing off to Layla, but she’d be hurt if I did that. If it wasn't for my promise to her, he'd be a dead man. Aaron’s stare in the back of my head, but I ignore it and exit the house. It’s now or never.
Standing outside devising a plan, I wonder why the fuck haven’t we gotten a vehicle yet. A lightbulb goes off and I can't help the smile that forms on my face. If anyone saw it, they would think I was a lunatic, which just makes me belt out a laugh.
Hopping behind the wheel of Blaze’s Jeep, I cackle when I find his keys are still in the ignition. What a dumb fuck. It’s 6:30 p.m. when I pull out of the driveway and the sun is setting. I turn on the radio and ‘ Psycho Killer ’ by The Wrecks is playing. I blare the music, and sway to it as I make my way to my destination.
I'm parked in front of the big wooden front doors of a white mansion, next to my mother’s car. She’s almost always at this house, I remember Layla visiting a few times when they were hosting events.
I walk into the front doors and a butler greets me. He's tall, with dark hair that’s sprinkled with gray.
“May I help you, miss?” he questions me.
“No,” I deadpan. He looks at me warily. “I'm going to give you some advice…” I put on my evil smile, his throat bobs. “You and the staff need to leave. I make no promises on what happens with the hell I'm about to unleash.” I give him a wink and let myself in.
The butler runs off to gather the staff. Good choice. I hear our mother’s annoying laughter coming from a room to my right. Once I’m through the entrance, I take in the view. It’s a big open space with a few cream colored couches. A chandelier hangs from the ceiling and a rectangular glass table sits in the middle of the furniture. The wall on the right is lined with a counter from one end to the other, loaded with drinks and food. This must be some type of tearoom…bougie bastards. I spot our mother talking with her friend, Jackalyn.
“Well, Mother dearest…this is quite lovely. Why wasn't I invited for tea?” I giggle. Her shoulders tense up at my voice while Jackalyn stares at me, shocked. As far as I can remember, our mother never brought us around her friends and only brought us to events. We quit going to those once we hit thirteen. Our mother turns around slowly and places a fake smile on her face.
“Layla, dear. What are you doing here?” she asks, her voice sounding like nails on a chalkboard. I can see her teeth gritted together and it's taking everything for her to stay calm.
“I had to come see you. It was urgent! Why is your nose purple?” I say sweetly. Our mother gets up from the couch and makes her way toward me. She gets close to my ear and whispers.
“Layla, I don’t know what the fuck you’re up to, but you need to leave. I don't have time for this bullshit.”
I hold eye contact with Jackalyn, grinning like nothing is wrong. Before our mom could back away, I fist the back of her hair in a tight grip. Jackalyn gasps and drops her teacup.
Our mother yelps, “Let me go!” She's still trying to play the victim act. Well, this will be her grand finale!
“Jackalyn, dear,” I say in a sweet voice, “if I were you, I'd leave. This is going to get really bloody, and I'd hate for us to ruin your Dior.” Jackalyn stutters and runs out of the room.
“You little bitch, let me fucking go!” Our mom shrieks as she tries to tear our hands out of her hair. I drag her near the couches, without loosening our grip.
“If I were Layla, you wouldn't even be in this position right now. Unfortunately for you, I'm not Layla and I've been dying to get my hands on you.” I say.
“What?” she gasps as I slam her face into the glass table hard enough that it shatters. I'm feeding off of the chaos now and it’s raging.
Our mother screams while lying on the floor, holding her nose. How many times can a nose be broken before you have to cut it off? I use our foot to push on her shoulder and roll her onto her back. I place our foot in the middle of her chest.
“See, Layla has an alter ego. Hi! That’s me. I was created because you are the world's shittiest mother. If they gave out awards, no one would beat you,” I say enthusiastically. “You let her be abused and raped! When she created me and I took care of that problem for her, you still blamed her! Slapping her around, expecting perfection, all while you yourself are not worth a shit. Then you go and marry another bastard who also abuses his daughter!”
I’ve witnessed the bruises Ryan covers. I’ve seen him slap her one night while Layla was getting a glass of water. She hurried back to her room before either of them noticed her. If I would've been in control, I would've had a lot of fun with him that night.
“The only good thing that came out of this fucked up family was Layla meeting Ryan.” I say. Our mother’s teary eyes widened in surprise. “Oh, yeah. News flash! Your daughter and step-daughter are fucking, and its really, really hot.” I laugh. I lower myself to her face. “Ryan has the prettiest pussy. I wish Layla would have been eating that instead of sucking on Carson's dirty dick. Especially knowing your old, raggedy cunt has used it. Indespicable!” I scoff and press our foot into her chest until I hear a bone crack. Not sure which one, it’s still satisfying. She lets out a painful cry and I smile.
I walk over to the counter to see what options of toys I have to play with. A shiny, sharp cocktail fork sits on a platter calls to me. I strut over to our mother who is still on the floor, holding her chest. A wheezing sound comes from her, I hope a bone has punctured her lung.
“What am I going to do with you?” I smile and trail the fork from her head to her stomach. “One...two…Kali’s coming for you…” I sing song and then swiftly stab the utensil into her gut. A piercing scream leaves her mouth as tears coat her face. Might be the first real tears this bitch has ever shed. Taking the fork, I wiggle it into her guts. I love that squishy feeling. “Tickle, tickle, tickle,” I tease and let out a giggle. Our mother is still wailing when I pull the fork out. I bring the fork to our mouth and swipe a taste of the blood with our tongue.
“Ughhh, even your fucking blood is as disgusting as you are.” Our upper lip arched up in disgust. I straddle her body and grab her face in our hand. I pry her jaw open, spitting the remaining blood into her mouth. “Three…four...you should have locked your doors.” I shove the carving fork all the way through her nose until it sticks out of both ends .
“Thank God you never got a piercing. You really could not pull that shit off with your ugly ass nose or is it because it’s been broken twice?” I yank the fork out and just stare down at our mother. She's whimpering now, half of her nose is hanging from her face. Who knew a carving fork could be so fun to play with?
I force her eyes on me; they are bloodshot from screaming and crying. I engrain her face into my memory, because I never want to forget this moment.
“I hope you learned your lesson but you won't be here for it to matter.” Her eyes widen. I raise the fork over my head as I finish my song. “Nine...ten...you'll never see daylight again.” I sing. I jam the carving fork into her neck. I dig and dig, then rip the fork out. Meat from her neck is hanging on the end of the fork and blood sprays over our face and shirt. When our mom takes her last breath and the life leaves her body, I stand up to admire the mess I’ve made.
Still holding the carving fork, I make my way out of the building. I'm almost to the front door when Jackalyn runs into me, not paying any attention to where she's going. I tilt my head to the side and pout when she lets out an irritating shriek. I’m shoving the carving fork all the way in and angling up, pushing until I can’t see the utensil anymore. Jackalyn drops to the ground like a sack of potatoes and I leave her there to bleed out.
It's dark now and I can feel that I don't have much time before Layla returns. Not sure where to go, I head home. I pull up to the house and the lights are off. Strange, but I rejoice in knowing that everyone has left and I can rush into the house to get cleaned up.
As I enter our house, someone grabs us from behind. A light from the living room flicks on and Ryan is standing there. Which means her dog must be the one holding me. I lick our lips and throw Ryan a smirk.
“Oooh, Daddy…I didn't realize you wanted to play.” I say, smirking. Blaze growls from behind me.
“I wouldnt fuck you if you were the last piece of pussy in the galaxy,” he says.I laugh at him and cock our head toward our step-sister.
“Tell your mutt to let me go,” I demand. Her eyes roam over our body, taking in all of the blood caked on our face and clothes.
“What happened to you?” Ryan asks.
“I went and saw Mommy, she wasn't very happy,” I feign a sulk, but I can’t help it and giggle.
“Whose blood is that?” she asks.
“What blood?” I glance down at our body, pretending to be shocked.
“Don't play dumb, bitch!” Blaze barks from behind. Tired of this shit, I throw our head back and bust him in the face. Blaze pushes me to the ground while Aaron rushes and checks on him. He must've been standing beside him the entire time.
“Layla!” Ryan yells. I look back at her.
“I'm not Layla,” I say in all seriousness. She looks at me dumbfounded. In our peripheral vision, I see Ryan’s knife on the coffee table. I move quickly to grab it and run for the door. Blaze tries to grab me, but I stab him in the shoulder before he can catch me. He lets out a groan and I make my way out the side door. Ryan screams from inside of the house. Sorrow fills me and that confuses me. I've never felt remorse before. I'm assuming it's from Layla’s connection to Ryan.
With no time to dwell, I take Blaze’s Jeep again and take off. Must be a shit day for him! I know where I'm heading this time. There's one place that's always brought us peace.
