Blaze
Five Months Later
I stand at the black marble headstone I visit every week. A picture of my beautiful Ryan is on the front. I throw back a shot of her favorite Crown and then pour some on her grave for her.
“I miss you, princess.”
Her smiling face stares back at me. I got a tattoo on my chest with her name and a lipstick print in the same shade she always wore. Dark red. She’ll always be a part of me. Nothing’s been the same since she's left. I can feel a dark cloud hanging over me every day. Aaron tries to help me get out of my head. It does no good, since my mind is always on her.
They found pieces of Aaron’s brother's body washed up near their cabin a week after Ryan died. Julie’s body was never found, but police chalked that up to Layla being the killer, or that other version, Kali, as she called herself.
I know Aaron struggles too, he just hides it better. They also decided to close Ryan’s dad’s case, assuming he and Carson were also killed by Layla. They’re just missing one key component.
I killed Ryan's dad. As he was leaving his office one evening, I knocked him out before he got to his car. Thankfully, there were no witnesses. I drove him out by the river and mutilated him as much as I could. I left his body out in the open, wanting him to be found. I wanted Ryan to know that piece of shit was dead and she’d never have to worry about him again. Who knew she had bigger problems?
Ever since then, I have an itch to unleash more chaos on other sorry sons of bitches just like him. I’ve done a good job at keeping myself in line, but I can feel the walls I built tumbling and the monster inside of me is ready to come out and play. Soon. Standing up, I look at my baby's grave once more.
“Everything I do…I hope you know it's for you, princess. I love you.” I kiss my fingers and press them against her headstone.
She may have died by the sins of her sister, but my sins are gonna taste so sweet. To me, at least.
