Chapter 20

Social media post for Mistletoe Meadows:

It’s me again! Happy Holidays. Thanksgiving is just two days away. Still, the Secret Saint was at it again, because overnight the rest of the Christmas decorations were put up around town. I have some pretty good contacts, but none of them can tell me that they’ve gotten a glimpse of the Secret Saint in his community endeavors. Does anyone else have any ideas of who it might be? Or where he might strike next?

Happy Thanksgiving, folks! I hope you all had a great one. I learned today that five different houses in town were bombed by the Secret Saint. Gift packages were left outside doors where residents would be sure to find them. The packaging is quite unique, and each package was left with a note signed Merry Christmas — Secret Saint. A couple of them had suggestions that they might pass it on.

The Secret Saint has been at it again. A local restaurant was instructed to deliver meals to ten different houses on Thanksgiving. Those houses just happen to contain folks who might not otherwise have had one. The Secret Saint has struck again.

This just in about the Secret Saint.

Word on the street is that the Secret Saint kept the parking meters full of coins on Black Friday, so anyone shopping along Main Street did not have to pay for parking. That seems like a small thing, but what a great idea, and so very kind. I’m still not getting any ideas of who this person might be. Or is there more than one?

Another update about the Secret Saint. Not a lot of people have been hearing about this, so I had to confirm with the utility company in town. It seems that several well-deserving families have had their utility bills paid for the entirety of November and a credit put on their account for the entirety of December. This reporter was able to speak with a representative for the company, who was unable to confirm the identity of the Secret Saint. They spoke on condition of anonymity, and they refused to make speculation as to who it might be. With heating costs rising, this was a true Christmas gift for all the families involved.

And yet another Secret Saint sighting. The school bills of fifteen children at the local Christian Academy have been paid through the end of the school year. One mother said that it prevented them from having to take their children out of Christian school and put them back in public school. She does not know who the Secret Saint is, but she wished to convey her deepest gratitude. Secret Saint, if you’re reading, you made a difference in people’s lives. Thank you.

We have an actual sighting!

The Secret Saint was sighted walking near Judd Landis’s duplex. My informant, who spoke on condition of anonymity, claimed they had seen the Secret Saint dropping off a Christmas tree in the yard of one of the houses on that street. Its windows were still dark, and the occupants had not been able to afford a tree. Indeed, this confirms other reports I have of up to a dozen and a half other families each receiving a Christmas tree outside their house. In every instance, the family had not been able to afford to purchase the tree and were going to do without.

My anonymous source said that it looked like there might have been a small bandage on the Secret Saint’s hand. But they couldn’t be sure.

Nonetheless, the Secret Saint walked by Judd Landis’s house and disappeared into the woods on the outskirts of town. Is it possible that the Secret Saint is also Bigfoot?
