THIRTY-EIGHT
bea
One Year Later…
The high Bea was riding wasn’t going to end with the final song of the charity fundraiser. Bunny’s fingers clenched in her own, were exactly what she needed to remind herself that even though it had been one year since the last fundraising concert, this wasn’t going to end.
The ring on her finger didn’t feel new since it had been there a few months already, but Bunny squished it against her hand hard while they stood together on the stage and sang the encore. This show, while similar to the one last year, was also vastly different. They were ready for it without even having to try, although Bunny did make them rehearse endlessly.
It’d be too easy to get out of that.
Bea laughed when Bunny spun her in a circle on the stage, her eyes alight with a mischief that Bea knew all too well by this point. Bunny dipped her down and kissed her, the cheers roaring wildly. Bea threaded her fingers through Bunny’s hair, keeping their mouths pressed together until Bunny lifted her up.
“I love you,” Bunny murmured.
“Love you, too,” Bea said with a grin and a laugh. “Come on, I want to go home.”
“Soon.” Bunny winked.
The show was over. At least mostly. It wouldn’t take long for Bunny to drive them home and Bea could find herself encompassed in Bunny’s comfortable bed—her comfortable bed. Even though it had been two months since they’d tied the knot at the courthouse, it was still hard to believe that this was her life.
Touring.
Concerts.
Marriage.
Bea wrapped her arm around Bunny as they walked off the stage together. Piper and Jo followed closely behind, the giant rock on Jo’s left ring finger a warm reminder of just how far they’d come in the last year. The wedding was next week, on the first of the year, and Bea was ready for it to be over and done with.
She wanted some calm, some time they could all spend together just lingering in the family that they were creating. Bunny wrapped her arm around Bea’s back and kissed her cheek. “What do you say we get into our clothes as fast as possible and burn rubber on the way out.”
“I like this idea,” Bea teased. “But you’ll have to deal with Siena first.”
Siena was headed in their direction at a quick pace. Bunny pushed Bea toward the bus and put her hand up to stop Siena in her tracks. Bea followed the silent instructions from Bunny and walked toward the bus. By the time she and Bunny were in the car and headed home, it had been another thirty minutes.
Leaning into the seat, her eyes half-closed, Bea melted into the moment. She’d never wanted anything more than this. She had love and she had hope. They had never done a major press release about their relationship like Siena had wanted to, but it was enough. Bunny’s hand against her thigh caught her attention, and Bea turned her head, lips curling up at Bunny’s glance.
“Everything okay?” Bunny asked.
“Everything is perfect.” Bea’s voice was soft and gentle, satiated almost. And perhaps it was because of that. She was comfortable and settled, and it was perfect—truly. Bunny scrunched her face up, and Bea caught her before she could run down that train of thought. “No, you don’t. Tonight was a good night. Stop analyzing how it could be better.”
“Tonight was good, I’ll give you that one.” Bunny’s fingers tightened on Bea’s thigh. “It’ll be even better when we get home.”
Bea chuckled lightly. “Oh, do you have big plans for when we get home?”
“All day every day.” Bunny lifted Bea’s hand, kissing her knuckles briefly.
“Too bad we have these things called jobs.”
“And annoying friends and siblings who have the worst timing on the planet.”
Bea laughed fully this time. Piper and Jo had interrupted them on more than one occasion over the last year, but Bea was hopeful that it would happen less once the wedding was over and Piper and Jo were figuring out their own lives.
Bea stayed half a step behind Bunny as they walked to their condo. Bunny slid her key into the lock, and within seconds they were inside. Bea leaned against the door, locking it behind her as she eyed Bunny over. The way she moved so much more confidently now, the way she didn’t hesitate when they were out on the town together. She had come into her own so quickly.
“I love you,” Bea said, her voice carrying through the living room.
Bunny furrowed her brow as she turned around, keys on the tips of her fingers as she went to drop them on the kitchen table. “I love you, too. Why the sudden sentiment?”
Bea shrugged and bit her lip. “Because I have big plans for tonight.”
“Oh?” Bunny’s eyes widened, and her entire focus was centered on Bea.
“I like that look.” Bea’s lips curled up, her eyes softening. She wouldn’t have her life look any other way right now. The two of them, together, spinning in each other’s orbit and nowhere else.
“What look?” Bunny frowned now, a deep line creasing in the center of her forehead.
“The one that says you want to eat me up.”
Bunny snorted, immediately grinning. “Maybe it’s because I do.”
“Good.” Bea took a step away from the door. She started with her shirt, pulling it up and over her head and dropping it onto the floor behind her. Sending a saucy and expectant look over her shoulder, she reached behind her back and unhooked the strap on her bra. She wanted her message to be clear as day. “You coming?”
“Fuck yes,” Bunny muttered, following her into the bedroom like Bea had her hook, line, and sinker.
Laughing, Bea undid the button and zipper on her pants and shoved them over her broad hips. She was just about to push them to her ankles when Bunny’s hands on her sides stopped her. Leaning back into Bunny, Bea hummed her contentment.
“Did you ever think this is what your life would look like?” Bea asked.
“Not for a second,” Bunny answered, skimming her hands up and down Bea’s sides.
She touched Bea’s breasts lightly and briefly before sliding her hands down, across her belly, and between her legs. Bea was wrapped in Bunny’s arms like a hug, her back pressed to Bunny’s front. She never wanted to give this up.
“I figured I’d be gone on tour all year, barely even home,” Bunny stated, slipping two fingers through Bea’s slick, wet folds. She pulled Bea’s juices upward, sliding the pads of her fingers against Bea’s clit. She pinned Bea’s clit tightly between her fingers and then scissored them.
Bea groaned. She reached back, wrapping her arm around the back of Bunny’s head and tried to keep herself upright. Bunny pressed kisses against Bea’s neck, small nibbles here and there. Bea gasped, rocking her hips into Bunny’s hand.
“I love that you know how to touch me,” Bea whispered, her voice gravelly.
“I asked Siena to do something different this year.”
Bea winced. She really didn’t want to talk about Siena when Bunny’s hand was doing delicious things to her. She really didn’t want to talk business when her head wasn’t completely in the game. Bunny might try to sneak something in there that Bea would normally push back on.
“I asked her to set up a joint tour.”
Bea whimpered, clenching her eyes shut as Bunny continued the same pattern as before. She wasn’t sure she had heard right, that she’d followed Bunny’s line of thought.
“J-joint tour?” Bea finally managed to ask.
“Yes.” Bunny scraped her teeth over the cord of muscle along Bea’s shoulder. “If you’ll agree to it.”
“Agree to what?” Bea asked, nearly out of breath. She was so damn close, and Bunny’s inane questions about business weren’t helping her get there.
“Going on tour with Piper and me.”
“I—” Bea stopped, words disappearing from her brain as Bunny brought her up and over the edge of orgasm. She clenched at nothing, wishing Bunny’s fingers were inside of her to add to the pressure, wishing that her brain wasn’t going wild with sensations and pleasure so she could answer Bunny’s crazy question.
Bunny’s kisses were warm on her shoulders and upper back. Bunny held her until Bea was ready to turn around. She sat on the edge of the bed, gave Bunny an odd look, and then started pulling her shoes off to divest herself of the rest of her pants.
“You want Jo and me to go on tour with you?”
“Yes.” Bunny grinned widely.
“And you already talked to Siena about it.” Bea pressed her lips into a thin line, wanting Bunny to sweat this one out a little. She kicked off her pants and pulled herself into the center of the bed. Two could play at this game, and she wasn’t going to let Bunny be the only one to get away with it. Spreading her legs, Bea planted her hand right between them and slowly swished two fingers back and forth across her clit.
Bunny’s eyes were glued to her body. Her cheeks grew pink with arousal, her lips parted as if at any moment she was going to bed down and take over what Bea was doing. Bea reached behind her head with her free hand to lift her head up slightly to be able to see Bunny’s reaction better.
“You didn’t think you should ask me or Jo if we wanted to tour with you?” Bea kept her tone firm but her fingers moving. She knew she was making it hard for Bunny to concentrate, but payback was a bitch, and she wasn’t willing to let this one go.
“I uh…” Bunny swallowed audibly. “I thought you uh…”
“Finish your sentence, Bunny.” Oh, Bea was enjoying this far too much. She should have tried this earlier.
“Damn you,” Bunny muttered.
“Oh, I like the sound of that tone.”
Bunny stripped off her clothes rapidly, dropping them next to the bed. Then she clambered onto the mattress and had her hand against Bea’s in an instant. “Will you go on tour with me, Bea? With me and my crazy bandmate, Piper, and her insane soon-to-be wife?”
Bea’s eyes crinkled at the corners as she grinned. Bunny stared at her directly, sliding two fingers inside her and curling them delicately.
“What do you say?”
“Yessss.” But was she answering Bunny’s question or begging for Bunny to keep touching her? Bea wasn’t entirely sure.
“We’d be stuck together for months on end. I guess the question is how many times will I stick my foot in my mouth?”
“Not enough,” Bea whined as she lifted her hips up, trying to get Bunny to touch her more. “I think everyone will say it won’t be often enough.”
Chuckling low, Bunny bent down and immediately covered Bea’s clit with her lips. Bea cried out in surprise, arching backward into the heavenly mattress. She couldn’t speak. Her entire body was hot. All her nerves were electrified with pleasure. She was already so close to her second orgasm and the first had barely even ended.
“Bunny,” Bea whimpered.
Bunny’s laughter ricocheted through her with vibrations against her clit, and it sent another shockwave of pleasure through her body. Bea wasn’t going to be able to hold back. Not that she’d want to and not that Bunny would ever ask her to. Bea groaned loudly as she reached down and dug her fingers into Bunny’s hair and pulled tight. She cried out, her voice reverberating around the room as she crashed through her second orgasm of the night.
Clasping her thighs together, she turned onto her side as Bunny backed away. She needed a few minutes to get control of herself again, to find her center and calm her body. She worked to settle her breathing while Bunny lay behind her and ran soothing fingers over her side from her shoulder to her thigh.
“I think I can work to keep myself in check.”
Bea laughed, full and hard. “If you say so, love.”
“I love when you call me that.”
“Well, I love you, too.” Laughing, Bea shifted away, turning on her back. “Come up here.”
Bunny complied, straddling Bea’s hips. They pressed their mouths together in a deep embrace before Bea beckoned Bunny to move farther up her body. With Bunny’s pussy right in front of her face, Bea couldn’t resist.
“I’d love to go on tour with you, for the record,” Bea said right before latching her mouth around Bunny’s clit.
Bunny gasped, lurching forward. Bea grinned as she sucked, creating an optimal amount of pressure. She wanted Bunny’s first orgasm to be just as hard as hers had been, one that would blow her mind, one that would take her minutes to recover from. Bea wrapped her arms around Bunny’s toned thighs and kept her in place as she started to get wild with her movements.
“Bea,” Bunny said, and then mumbled something unintelligible afterward.
Crying out, Bunny grunted and then collapsed onto the bed next to Bea. Curling around Bunny, Bea gave her the same care that Bunny had given her. They stayed together, wrapped up in each other’s arms for at least thirty minutes. There was silence between them, nothing but soothing, calm silence.
“I should tell Siena she can start planning—”
“It can wait until next week,” Bea said, her tone gentle.
“I’ll just text her tomorrow.”
Bea grinned. “Tomorrow is Christmas. You won’t be texting her.”
Bunny wrinkled her nose, but settled back in. “Fine, I’ll text her on the twenty-sixth.”
“That’s Boxing Day.”
“We’re American, Bea!” Bunny pinched Bea’s nipple as if to make her point. “We don’t celebrate Boxing Day.”
“My point is, it can wait until after the wedding.” Bea lifted up on her elbow and stared down at Bunny. “We’ve got too much to worry about right now and we can ask Jo and Piper what they think about a joint tour after they get back from their honeymoon.”
“Right… we should probably ask them first.”
“Yes, we should.” Bea pressed her lips to Bunny’s neck, trailing kisses down to her chest. “We don’t need another blowup like last year.”
Bunny hummed. “Fine, but what exactly are we supposed to do for two weeks with no work?”
Bea laughed. “Fuck, and fuck some more.”
Dearest Reader,
Thank you so much for reading this book. I absolutely fell head over heels in love with these four characters. I’ve wanted to write a sapphic queering of White Christmas for years, and now I can say that I finally did it!
This was so much fun, and the research for it (watching the movie a million times) was such a blast. I’m so glad you took a chance and joined me for this journey!
I really hope you enjoyed these four as much as I did. I’d love it if you’d leave a review or a rating for this book, every review and rating helps!.
