Chapter fifty-nine

Raven

M y father?

At this point am I even surprised?

“We better get you cleaned up.” He ushers me across the room, my legs still heavy and lazy.

“This is a big night for us, Raven.” He tells me as he opens a black metal door. “And you’re the grand finale.”

I’m shoved through the opening, into another room, but this one is not just a dirty warehouse. It’s clean and bright.

“My business associates should be joining us any minute,” he says as a woman in six-inch heels and a cocktail dress approaches us.

I glance at the man next to me, taking note of his features. I recall Locke mentioning his name, and that he’s a hybrid.

"Don't look all sappy." He side eyes me. "This isn't some family reunion."

I try to get my mind to focus. To grab a hold of my power. Surely, I can use it to get out of this.

“You can try.” He picks up a piece of my hair and rubs the strands between his fingers. “It’s a blocker. What you’re injected with. It blocks your magic for at least twelve hours.”

I tug away from him. “Don’t touch me.”

He laughs. His eyes glowing red as he flashes his set of fangs.

“Defiant. Just like your old man.” He nods to the woman. “Get her dressed.”

The woman takes a hold of me, but I struggle against her. She squeezes her nails into my skin, drawing a drop of blood.

“Mmm.” She leans down, licking away the red liquid. “You were right, Elias. This one’s special.”

I use my body weight to shove away, but she stops me quick. She catches me by the hair, twisting the strands around her fist with a hiss.

“I want her unharmed, Penny.” Elias chides. “I’ll get top dollar for her.”

As she yanks me, the door across from me opens, and in steps a man with piercing black eyes. He’s tall, built, and has an air of danger that hangs over him like a dark cloud. His skin is tan and leather like, but something about him is flickering recognition.

“Malikiah,” Elias greets.

The man takes two steps inside and then it clicks. Not because I’ve heard the name, but because directly behind him stands Kingston, and I can’t tell who’s side he’s on anymore.

I stand in a room the size of a shoe box, my hair curled, my makeup done, and a short strapless dress covering my body.

“What is this place?” I ask Penny, who’s scrolling through Tinder like this isn’t a completely fucked up situation.

“It’s Elias’ new business.” She blows a bubble, then pops it with her tongue. “If I had the money, I know who I’d be taking home.”

Her eyes slide up to mine, and she runs her tongue across her bottom lip.

“Sorry, but you're not my type,” I deadpan.

“All you witches are the same.” She snorts. “Think you’re better than everyone else.”

She stands, sliding her phone into her bra behind her set of fake boobs.

“I want your blood, Raven." She steps to me, reaching out to slide her hand between my legs.

I clench them together, my nostrils flaring as I block her attempt.

“Not what’s under here.” She smirks.

“Get your hands off of me,” I warn.

“What are you going to do?” She tilts her head, her face taking on an even gray sheen.

Shit. I’ve seen the same look on Declan’s face and my hands are still tied behind my damn back along with the rope bounding my feet a few inches apart.

Just as her fangs flash, a fists pounds on the door next to us. She rolls her eyes, opening the door with force. “What?”

“You’re dismissed. Elias told me to get this one.”

My body freezes. It’s Kingston.
