61. Chapter 61

Chapter sixty-one

Locke

I snatch up a rifle and toss it to Hendrix. Grabbing another, I pass it to Declan. We’re parked a mile from the warehouse, on the edge of a hill. I’m still fuming after listening to the voice recording Kingston sent. What pissed me off is I’ve spent the majority of my life protecting our kind, and he’s plastering us to a fucking billboard and selling our secret.

The only thing keeping me sane is hearing Raven’s voice. She didn’t sound scared. She sounded ready. So strong and focused. Pride fills me as we continue to sort weapons. The only one missing tonight is Frankie. She stayed behind to sit with Presley who was a complete wreck. Crying and breaking down in a coughing fit when we left the estate.

“Nyko and I will go in wolf form. It’s where we’re strongest.” I rip off my shirt.

“How are we getting in?” Zander asks.

I move my eyes to Callum who straps a knife to his ankle. “Me. I’m human.”

He slips on a suit jacket, while Declan hands him a stack of cash. “Entry fee.”

“Thanks.” Callum tucks the money into his suit pocket.

Even though Callum is human, he’s deadly. He served in the marines and is a master at jiu jitsu and has his black belt. He’s a sniper as well.

“Can I see the prints?” He asks.

Declan slides his phone over. “One entrance. Two exists. One on each back corner.”

“Perfect.” Callum hands it back. “Give me ten minutes and I’ll have you inside.”

Callum is never off on timing. Ten minutes later, the left rear door is opened, and Declan slides in as I follow him, my fur scraping against the edge of the doorframe.

“Apparently the invite is private, but I was able to choke out the guy at the front and subdue him with a broken piece from a wooden chair.”

Callum relays the information like he’s reading the newspaper. Bored and unemotional.

“Auction has started. Each buyer has a private box surrounding the room. Identity is anonymous.”

I blow air through my nose before tipping it up to inhale and try to catch Raven’s scent.

She’s here. I can feel her.

I pound my paws on the concrete down a long dark hallway, trying to follow the scent. It’s changing. I can feel the shift in her body. She’s nervous.

“Shit!” Declan curses just as a vampire charges from the adjacent hallway. He immediately lifts his weapon, firing two wooden bullets into the vampire’s chest. He crashes to the ground immediately, his body turning to nothing but a black and distorted version of itself.

My growl is low when I spot a set of double doors and hear the words rolling through the speakers.

“There. It’s the main room.” Declan jogs forward, his hand resting on the handle. “You ready?”

I hunker down, my teeth bared and my bite sharp.

The manic look in his eyes grow dark. “It’s show time.”
