CHAPTER 17

Luke

I wasn’t sure about letting Ignatius go. It wasn’t that I cared about the money, but I didn’t like how he had made a move toward Luna. Would he have hurt her?

She claimed he wouldn’t have, but I don’t know.

However, Luna said not to kill him, so I won’t.

“Luke,” she repeated, “did you kill Adrian?”

“Yes, I did,” I assured her. “He was dealing again. Messing with the blues like before so people got a bunch of dangerous shit mixed in. And I remember you told me once that if you found out he’d been doing that again, you’d kill him. I didn’t want you to have to do that, Luna. I love you and I want to do everything I can to show you.”

Her jaw dropped and I felt my cock twitch at the sight of that little pink mouth opening.

“I. . . told you to kill my own brother?” she croaked.

“Yes, you did,” I reassured her, taking her hand and gently rubbing her palm.

My eyes flicked over her face. Sometimes her facial expressions were mysterious to me. I hoped this was excitement, but perhaps the idea would take some getting used to.

“You said you’d kill him and that anybody who didn’t give a shit about dealing an overdose deserved it.”

“But he was your best friend!” she said, her brows furrowing together. “Didn’t you care about him at all?”

“He was hurting people,” I said. “I thought you’d want me to stop it. I’m sorry if you don’t like it. You said once that people who knowingly deal in blues should all be shot. Wait, is that why you’re annoyed? Because I didn’t shoot him? I didn’t have a gun at the moment.”

When she still gaped at me, I took her arm gently.

“Let’s go back to our hotel room and talk about when you want me to propose to you.”
