THE HOCKEY REPORT
“Good Morning, Boston. Colton and Eliza here, and we’ve got the Hockey Report.”
“This is a nerve-racking weekend in Boston, for sure. Tomorrow, the Bolts face New York for the first time since either team’s change in leadership.”
“And they’re playing on New York’s ice,” Colton adds.
“The last time they faced off, Sebastian Lukov was still the coach of the Bolts. Now he’s taken over as head coach in New York.”
“For those of you who don’t remember, the last time these teams faced off, Vincent Lukov instigated an altercation which had Bolts goalie Brooks Langfield leaving the net and charging to the boards, where he then took swing after swing at Sebastian Lukov,” Colton says. “Lukov was let go as Bolts coach that weekend and then, as we all know, Gavin Langfield appointed himself as coach.”
“Rumor is that if the Bolts make it to the playoffs, Lukov is entitled to a rather large bonus. Clauses like this are typical. It discourages teams from firing coaches near the end of the season to avoid paying bonuses when they make it so far. Of course, that’s not what happened here.”
“No, Eliza. There’s been a lot of speculation surrounding Sebastian’s termination. We know that Lukov, who was married, had an affair with Sara Case, who works in PR for the Bolts and is now dating Brooks Langfield, but that’s where the information ends. Bolts ownership has said they prefer to keep the details out of the public eye, but that if Sebastian chooses to stir the pot, they’re more than willing to provide all the facts.”
“Sounds like it will be a tense game on and off the ice. Let’s hope our goalie stays where he’s meant to this time around and the fighting is limited to possession of the puck. We’ll be back with a more in-depth look at the lineup for tomorrow’s game after a word from our sponsors.”
