Chapter Ten

One Month Later

“Seriously, you’ve never been to a Halloween party?” Nate asked.

Molly watched as he attached the lights outside of her house, and sighed. “No, I haven’t. Well, I did as a kid, and then as I got older, I don’t know. I always thought I would go, but then I got busy, and life, and you know, being a stick in the mud.”

Nate burst out laughing. She had overheard Rachael refer to her as a stick in the mud.

He climbed down from his ladder, moved toward her, and wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her in close. “You’re no stick in the mud.”

He kissed her hard and a couple of passing kids did little wolf whistles. She groaned and Nate playfully told them to get lost.

The town had gotten used to them kissing and being together. According to Bethany, it had been hot gossip that the town rebel and quiet girl were hooking up.

Yeah, Molly couldn’t remember ever being part of the gossip. She knew a couple of women were pissed about i t— Rachael especiall y— but she wasn’t going to worry Nate with some of the nasty comments she’d sent her way.

Usually, when she was in line at the coffee shop, Bethany had been with her and had advised she give Rachael a slap. The other woman wasn’t worth it. She trusted Nate.

He let her go and went to the porch, flicking a switch, and Molly folded her arms, gasping, as Nate finally brought her dream Halloween decorations to life. For several years, Molly had been purchasing different decorations with the intention of building a playful yard of terror for the kids.

Each year, with her fear of heights, and just letting time fly by, she’d only ever gotten candy to give out. Now, with Nate’s help, he had finally brought one of her wishes to life, and she couldn’t believe the beauty. Yes, it was totally cliché, and it wasn’t original, but she loved it.

There was only one week until Halloween, but the town loved to celebrate for several days, to allow the kids to stock up on candy. After the trick-or-treating, there was always a main town event, where the adults got to enjoy their Halloween as well. Molly had never gone. This year, Nate was insisting they go together as a couple.

“You really want to go?” she asked.

“Hell, yeah, I was thinking we could be doctor and nurse, or dead zombie couple. I have some handcuffs we could use. Oh, we could be sexy cop and her villain?”

Molly burst out laughing. “That one, I like.”

“Yeah?” Nate asked, coming back toward her and pulling her in close to kiss her.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and breathed him in. It took her a few moments to realize they were still out on her front porch.

Her need for him doubled and without a word, Nate broke the kiss, grabbed her hand, and led her back inside. No words were needed as he locked the door and then pressed her up against it. His hands went to the waistband of her sweater as he tore it off her body. Molly was already attacking his sweater, throwing it to the floor, and then running her hands all over him.

Nate tore her skirt, but Molly didn’t care as she sunk to her knees before him, pulling at the zipper of his pants. She eased the pants down his body, and then his cock sprang out. Wrapping her fingers around the length, she began to work him exactly the way he liked it. She didn’t apply too much pressure, just enough to make him hungry for more.

Her mouth watered for a taste of him, and she saw in the soft light of her hallway, that the tip beaded his pre-cum. She slid her tongue across that tip and then sucked him into her mouth, moaning as she did so.

Nate ran his fingers through her hair, and wrapped the length around his fist as he guided her mouth over his dick. She loved when he took control.

He hit the back of her throat, and she swallowed him down. Even as she gagged on him, she didn’t want him to stop.

“Fuck, I’m going to come, but I’m not doing that in your mouth. I want inside your pussy.”

He went to his knees and spun her around. Within seconds, his cock was balls-deep inside her, and she screamed his name as the pleasure was out of this world. This time, he didn’t tease her or go slow. He pulled all the way out of her, and before she could protest, he slammed all the way back to the hilt, making her cry out for more.

It felt so good as Nate didn’t hold back, even for a second. All too soon, he seemed to stop, but he did so with pushing his cock to the hilt within her and staying perfectly still. Molly didn’t know if she was going to be able to take it much longer, and then one of his hands moved from her hip, delving between her spread legs and touching her pussy. He stroked between her lips, then circled around where his cock was inside her, before going back up to touch her clit.

Molly knew she wasn’t going to be able to last. When it came to Nate and his touch, she couldn’t fight it. It was like her body belonged to him. He was the master of her, and there was nothing she could do. And the truth was, she didn’t want to.

Being with Nate was the best feeling in the world. For the longest time, she had a crush on this guy but had always kept her distance. There might have been a few dates that could have potentially gone much better than they did as she’d been too distracted by the fact Nate had entered the room. She just couldn’t seem to look away from him, and now she didn’t know how to tell him exactly how she felt.

The last thing she cared to do was spoil what they were building, but she had fallen in love with Nate a long time ago. How did she tell a guy she asked to sell at an auction to other women, that she was completely and totally in love with him?

“Cop and villain, that is what you’re going as?” Randy asked.

“Yeah, it is,” Nate said, slowly lowering the hood of the car. He’d performed the final checks of the engine, and everything appeared to be working normally. “What about it?”

“Nothing, it just seems like an interesting costume choice for the two of you.”

“And what did you think we’d go as?” Nate asked.

“I don’t know, but seeing as I saw you eyeing that ring you purchased, I thought it could be as an engaged couple. It will freak out a lot of the single woman and married ones to know the notorious Nate Sinclair is finally settling down.”

He glared over at his friend. “You were not supposed to see that.”

“You’ve gone and bought an engagement ring?” Randy asked.

Nate wiped his hands on a cloth and looked toward his friend. “You don’t think I should?”

“I never said that. I know you have feelings for Molly. Trust me, I knew this day was coming, but when are you going to ask her?”

“You’re not going to talk me out of it?” Nate asked.

Randy held his hands out. “I’d talk you out of having kids right away. Being married to Bethany is a dream come true. I love my wife. I love her more than anything in the world, but sometimes I hate sharing he r— even with my own kid s— and trust me, that is a hard truth to admit. I love my kids and I love my wife. Being married is fucking awesome.”

Nate couldn’t help but laugh. “You can thank you and Bethany for making me believe Molly and I could make it.” He’d seen how happy his best friends had been together, and knew that was exactly what he wanted as well.

He’d loved Molly a long time.

“I’ve loved her for a long time, man. I’ve watched her go on dates with other men, and the only fucking reason I went out on those nights was to find her. I tried to keep an eye on her, because I didn’t think I fucking deserved her.” And knowing she’d been a virgin, while he’d screwed around, had been a hard pill to swallow.

“I get it, I do. It’s what I thought about with Bethany, before she got pregnant. I knew she could do better than me. But, this is what you’ve got to think about. Yeah, your woman could find a good lawyer, settle down, have a couple of kids … or a cop, or any one of these jobs that brought in more money, or a badge, or whatever the fuck it is, right?”

“Are you going somewhere with this?”

“Yeah, I am, because I had to do this myself. Will they make her smile? Will they pass a florist or even a garage and see a bunch of roses or tulips or daisies and think about that woman you love with all your heart? Will they remember the anniversary, or know they hate carrots chopped in circles, and don’t ask, just know that my woman can’t stand a carrot in a circle. She can deal with any other shape, but not a circle. Will they rub her feet when she has been on them all day, chasing after your kids? Will she be happy with anyone else but you? I looked at Bethany and I knew she could have any guy she wanted, that she didn’t need to settle for me, but I also knew there was no one else in this world that was going to make her as happy as I made her. That is when I knew, no matter what, I would be by Bethany’s side through thick and thin. Trust me. We’ve had some bad times, but many more good times.”

“Molly’s the one.”

“I know,” Randy said. “I’ve never seen you as happy as you are now.”

And with that, his friend patted him on the shoulder and then moved onto the next car, waiting for him to assess it. Randy always insisted on him assessing all the work. That way, it stopped customers from being awkward. They had experienced customers who refused to move their cars until he’d done a once-over. Nate didn’t mind, but it did add to the workload. Randy was just as qualified as him, but his friend didn’t seem to mind being checked over.

“When are you going to ask her?” Randy asked.

“I don’t know. Halloween night? I think that would be special, and then every year, we would get to dress up in matching costumes or something like that. Did you know Molly has never been to a Halloween party?” Nate shook his head. He wanted to make the night enjoyable, special.

“Yeah, I can see that. Your anniversary on Halloween night sounds like an easy date to remember as well.”

Nate paused and glanced at his friend.

Randy burst out laughing. “You didn’t even realize that, did you?”

“No, I didn’t.”

“Keep this up, and work all the dates around an important holiday, and you, my friend, will be the best husband in the world.”

“And if I don’t?”

“Do what I do. Get a diary and write that shit down every year. One of my kids either makes me one or buys me one, so every year on Christmas morning, while Bethany is cooking and I’m watching the kids, I transfer all the dates.”

“Wow,” Nate said.

“Makes me the perfect husband.”

“Yeah, and all you got to do is remember to check your diary.”

This time, Nate laughed, he just couldn’t help himself as Randy pulled out a small diary from the back of his pants. “Always on me.”
