Chapter Thirteen

Jade

Axel cleans me up, his touch unexpectedly gentle after how rough he just was.

I’m already worried, my mind racing a million miles per hour, wondering what the hell this means . Was this just a hook-up? Does he want more? He pulls me closer, a little smirk on his lips.

“Don’t think too much, Jade,” he murmurs, his thumb brushing my lip. “We had a good night, a damn good dinner and an even better time afterward. I’m gonna give you some time to think, but I’ll ask you out again and I hope you say yes.”

My stomach twists in the best way. “You sure you’re okay with...whatever this is?”

He nods, his eyes so intense it’s like they’re boring into my soul. “I’ll take you in any form I get you.” Then he’s kissing me again, soft and slow, his lips a stark contrast to the way he just took me. It’s almost tender, like he’s worshipping me. Like I’m something worth his worship.

I melt into him, his strong arms holding me steady as our tongues dance lazily, tasting each other. My mind is chaotic and my body is still humming with the aftermath of fucking him. He pulls back, lips barely an inch from mine. “You okay? Did I hurt you?”

I snort, a teasing grin forming. “Not really, but…” I bite my lip, “I’ve never fucked anyone with piercings before.”

His eyes darken, a sly grin spreading across his face. “I’m into pain. And a little BDSM.”

My brows shoot up. “Sweet Axel? Into BDSM?” I try to wrap my head around it. “So, what? You’re like a dom?”

He laughs, the sound deep and sexy as hell. “Kind of. But you don’t need to worry about that. We’ll take things slow.”

“Slow, huh?” I tease, digging my nails lightly into his arm. “Do you like to give or receive pain?”

“Both.” His voice drops an octave, his eyes smoldering.

“Interesting.” I wrap a hand around his bicep, feeling the muscles flex beneath my touch. I dig my nails in deeper, just to see what happens. His breath hitches, and I feel a surge of power.

“Be careful,” he warns, his voice a low growl. “Or we’re gonna end up fucking again.”

I lean in, trailing kisses along his neck, then biting down, hard. He groans, deep and guttural. “Fuck me.” His hands are on me again, pinching my nipples through my dress. My breath stutters, and he’s already reaching for another condom.

We’re at it again, rough and desperate, like neither of us can get enough. And when it’s over, he’s still got that damn smirk on his face, like he knows exactly what he’s doing to me.

He helps me straighten my dress, his hands lingering a second too long. “Ready to leave?”

I nod, feeling the ache in my thighs as I shift. “It’s almost midnight. Millie’s with Shadow, but you can drop me off at my place.”

He nods, brushing a thumb over my cheek. “All right.” He drives me back, and when we pull up to my apartment, he leans in, kissing my palm. “Tonight was fun, Jade.” His voice is low, rough. “I hope there’s more.”

My face flushes, and I can’t help the smile tugging at my lips as I get out of the car. I’m halfway to my door when he rolls down the window, waving something in the air.

My panties.

“Asshole!” I call out, but he just laughs, rolling his window back up.

I shake my head, grinning like an idiot as I step inside. Tonight was...something.

My phone buzzes in my pocket, and I pull it out, my heart stopping for a second. A text from Carter.

Carter: You free to meet up later?

Shit. I’ve never been into two guys at once before. What the hell is happening to me?

Me: I just got home, actually.

Carter: C’mon. I was craving ice cream.

He sends me a picture—shirtless, of course. He’s all abs and smirks. My breath catches, and my fingers hover over the screen. I shouldn’t. But damn it, why is this so tempting?

I bite my lip, typing back.

Me: Ice cream, huh? You’re not subtle.

Carter: Never said I was. Meet me?

I stare at the screen. I’ve got Axel’s taste still on my lips, but Carter’s all smooth talk and that grin I can’t resist. Fuck it.

Me: Fine. But just for ice cream.

Carter: Text me your address. I’ll pick you up in 10.

Ten minutes. I toss my phone on the couch, pacing the tiny space of my living room. What am I doing? My head’s spinning, my body still tingling from Axel, and now I’m about to go see Carter. This is a mess.

A knock on my door pulls me out of my thoughts. I open it to find Carter leaning against the frame, his usual cocky grin in place.

“Hey, beautiful,” he drawls, eyes sweeping over me. “You look...flushed.”

I roll my eyes, but I can’t help the smile creeping onto my face. “Shut up. You ready?”

He chuckles, stepping back to let me lock up. “Always. Let’s get you some ice cream.”

We head down to his car, the city night wrapping around us. I slide into the passenger seat, the cool leather pressing against my thighs. Carter glances over, eyes darkening for a second as he starts the engine.

“Interesting night?” he asks, a hint of something teasing in his tone.

“You could say that.” I smirk, glancing out the window as he drives. My phone buzzes again, and I glance down—Axel. My stomach twists, and I shove the phone back into my pocket. No way I’m dealing with that right now.

Carter doesn’t miss a beat. “Something wrong?”

“Nope,” I say too quickly, forcing a smile. “Just...thinking.”

He hums, that knowing look on his face. “Ice cream will help with that.”

I snort. “Yeah, okay.”

We pull up to this little twenty-four-hour ice cream joint, and he parks, turning to me with that damn grin of his. “Stay put. I’ll grab us something good.”

I watch as he saunters inside with confident strides and his trademark easy charm. Fuck, why am I into him? And why am I also into Axel? This is too much.

He comes back with two cones, handing me one. “Cookies and cream,” he says, licking his own. “You like sweet things. I think you’ll like this.”

I blink. “How’d you know?”

He winks. “I pay attention, Jade.”

I take a bite, the cold sweetness melting on my tongue. “Thanks.”

We eat in silence for a bit, the city lights glimmering around us. Carter’s watching me, like he’s trying to figure me out, and I’m suddenly nervous, my mind jumping back to Axel. What the hell does this all mean?

“So,” he says, breaking the silence. “You gonna tell me what’s got you all worked up?”

I roll my eyes. “You think you know me so well.”

He leans in, his breath warm against my cheek. “I’d like to.”

My breath catches, and for a moment, I forget about everything else. It’s just Carter, his lips so close to mine, his eyes searching my face.

“Carter...” I whisper, unsure of where I’m going with this.

“Yeah?” he murmurs, leaning closer.

I don’t know what the hell I’m doing, but I kiss him. The kiss is slow, testing, and he groans, deepening it. His hand slides into my hair, pulling me closer, and for a second, it’s just heat and lips and this insane connection.

We pull back, breathing heavily, his eyes burning into mine. “I’ve wanted to do that for a while,” he admits, voice rough.

I laugh, shaking my head. “You and me both.”

We kiss again, softer this time. And in that moment, with his lips on mine and the city buzzing around us, I don’t care about anything else. Not Axel, not the mess in my head, nothing. Just this.

“Come here,” he whispers, pulling me closer until I’m practically in his lap. “Let’s get outta here.”

I nod, still a bit dazed, and he drives us back to my place. When we stop, he turns to me, brushing a thumb over my lip. “Think about what you want, Jade. I’m here, whenever you decide.”

I swallow, nodding, and he leans in, kissing me once more, thoroughly, like he’s trying to leave an impression. And he does.

I step out of the car, watching him drive off, my heart pounding—not in my chest, but everywhere. Axel’s text still sits unread on my phone, and I’m not sure I’m ready to deal with it. Not tonight.

I head inside, my head spinning with possibilities, my body still tingling from both encounters. Tonight was...interesting. And confusing. But damn, it was good.

And I have a feeling it’s only gonna get crazier from here.
