Chapter 19
Micah
I t’s early in the evening and Sin and I are alone in the car where I’m driving her to the nearest town for our date.
After about half an hour wandering through the woods, we headed inside and Sin went back to working. And, as much as I wanted to follow behind her and continue comforting her, I could feel she needed the space.
Right now, my hands are sweating so badly, I have to keep wiping them on my pants.
Throughout the drive, I’ve had to grip the steering wheel with one hand, wipe my sweaty palms with the other hand, then repeat.
Not attractive at all, especially with Sin sitting in the passenger seat. Even though she’s trying to act like she hasn’t noticed I’ve turned into a sweaty mess.
Dammit, I’m nervous as hell. It’s been a long ass time since I took anyone out on a first date. Or any date.
“It’s pretty remote out here,” she says as the landscape flies by.
She’s not wrong. That’s one of the reasons we like to hide out here whenever we get a break in our schedules. There are no buildings, no people, just the winding road and the mountains in the distance.
My mouth is dry and on the forty-five minute drive, I’ve opened my mouth a bunch of times to say something, only to find barely more than a croak comes out. It’s like all my cool flew right out the window as soon as we left the cabin.
“Do you guys own the cabin or is it just somewhere you guys rent when you need to get away for a bit?”
I swallow, grab my bottle of water and take a swig to wet my mouth, and then swallow again before I can manage a response. “It’s one of the properties we own.”
“One of them, huh? I probably should have guessed that much. Somehow, I keep forgetting who you all are.”
A smile tugs at my lips. That’s what I like about Sin. She doesn’t try to stroke our egos. I’d far rather have her genuine reaction than any of the fake or sycophantic ones we’re bombarded with most of the time.
“Yeah, we each have our own places in our favorite cities. But we also have a few houses dotted around, so we have somewhere to head back to whenever we need to.”
“Will you guys all head back to the same place after the tour is done?” she asks.
It’s a good question. If someone asked me a few weeks ago, the answer would have been straightforward. Typically, after a tour, no matter how long or intensive it is, we slink off back into separate corners of the world and hide out until we can bear each other’s company again. It doesn’t matter how much we love each other, spending months on end in each other’s pockets is a lot.
This time around, though practice has been going a lot smoother than usual. Living together is too. By this point normally, we’d have had at least one massive row. But we’re talking to each other, choosing to spend time together, even if it’s not every spare hour.
And I’m pretty sure the cause of that is about five and a half feet tall, with the softest brown eyes.
—That kind of makes it sound like I’m talking about a cow, which is... not great. I need to work on my mental compliments toward Sin. Maybe, eventually, they’ll progress into actual compliments, ones I can actually say out loud to her face.
“I always wanted to travel as a kid,” she says. “I’d collect all these travel magazines and spend hours scanning through them, like a total dope.” She shoots me a little grin.
This time, my answering smile is uninhibited. “That’s cute as hell.”
She snorts and shakes her head. “I wound up never seeing much beyond the cities of the northwest. So much for satisfying my wanderlust.”
“I can’t wait to show you the cities we’re traveling to. The tour limits how much time we’ll have in any of them, but I’d like to take you to all my favorite places.” As the words come out, I briefly wonder if it’s too much, if I’m showing my hand too soon. Then Sin reaches over to squeeze my thigh.
“That sounds amazing.”
A little while later, I park in a car lot in the sleepy town of Whispering Pines, just outside the discount store and right by the chain coffee shop. The two of us then head down the street, which doesn’t have a lot going on. We pass a couple of people on the street and they don’t pay us any attention other than a brief ‘hello’.
“Huh. I would have thought you guys would be bigger news, especially in a town like this,” Sin mutters as we pass by a bunch of kids who don’t give us a second glance.
I chuckle. “We’ve been here a few times a year for the past ten years. We’re old news and literally no one gives a shit about us. That’s the beauty of this place.”
Keeping our fingers tangled together, I lead Sin down the main street, past the hardware store and the library. Continuing on until we’ve gone beyond the pub on the corner, I lick my lips as I pause at the mouth of an alleyway I know very well.
“This bit is going to seem kind of weird, but just trust me, okay? ”
Sin eyes the alleyway and then the street and raises an eyebrow. “Sure. If it turns out we’re going dumpster diving, I have to tell you, I have a weak stomach when it comes to the smell of old trash.”
I chuckle. “I might be out of practice with this whole dating thing, but even I know better than that. I’m trying to impress you here, Sin.”
“You are?” She grins, batting her eyelashes and eeking out another little laugh from me. Fuck, she’s cute.
“Yes.”
I just hope I can pull it off. It’s not exactly dinner under the moonlight, like Cal’s planning to give her tomorrow night. Then again, it’s not a competition. Sin needed a break from the house and her workshop, and I have the perfect distraction for the next couple of hours.
“The Alleyway Arcade?” Sin says as soon as she spots the sign. I nod and push open the heavy metal door, revealing my favorite place in the world.
The place might look like a dive from the outside, but as soon as we step inside, it’s like being transported to a whole other realm. One that’s focused on fun and friendly competition, instead of all the bullshit that drags us down.
The lighting is dim beyond the flashes of light from the classic games lining the walls and the glow of screens. The air’s thick with the scent of popcorn and sugar and our feet stick slightly to the vinyl as we make our way inside.
I take in a deep breath and feel my muscles loosening already.
We approach the front desk, and I give Sheila, the owner, a jaunty wave. She salutes me right back with a wry grin. “It’s all yours, kid.”
Sin shoots me a look and I just shrug. I may have paid a boatload of cash to hire the entire place out so we can do whatever we want, undisturbed. It’s not unusual for when I visit, but usually that’s because I can’t cope with all the sensations surrounding me when this place is busy.
Sin spins on her heel, admiring the place, and I feel a surge of pride. I may have had some input on the choice of games they have in this place.
“Shit, this place is cool.” She gasps and grips my arm, pointing to the far wall. “They have Goblin Racing! I always wanted it, but we could never afford it when I was a kid.”
I had a feeling that Sin didn’t have a regular childhood, and her excitement at being here and the way she’s grinning freely has me patting myself on the back.
Yeah, this was the perfect place to bring her for our first date.
“It’s just you and me, Sin. Now, pick your poison.” I wave my hand around the room. “Where do you want to start first?”
Sin’s smile grows until it takes over her face. “I want to try it all.”
Four hours later and we’re both giddy and sugared-up from the snacks I’ve been regularly supplying us with. We’ve made our way through all the shooting games and Sin just spent the past thirty minutes trouncing me at Goblin Racing.
She’s got a foul fucking mouth when she’s shit talking and I love it. I can’t remember the last time I smiled so big or laughed so hard.
“Okay, I need to stand up for a bit,” she says. “My feet are cramping from pressing down too aggressively.”
“Are you saying you might be a little competitive, Sin?”
The past hours demonstrated exactly that. As soon as we started playing, Sin’s eyes gleamed with the challenge and it’s like a whole new side of her came out. I knew she was someone who’s determined when she sets her mind to something. And tonight, she set her mind to destroying me at every game we played.
I’ve never been called a ‘sneaky little jellybean fucker’ before, either. It didn’t make sense when she said it earlier and it still doesn’t. But that doesn’t mean I’m not tempted to get it printed on a t-shirt .
“Is it a coincidence that half of these games have your name as their top score?” she asks.
Not anymore, they don’t.
Thank fuck my ego isn’t that fragile, or I’d be having a little cry in the bathroom right about now.
SIN HERE TO WIN is now the top line for a half dozen of the games, pushing MICAH THE GAMING MASTER right out of the top spot.
The top spot I’ve held for close to a decade at this point.
“We should come back here when there are other people around,” Sin says, and my stomach clenches.
Shit. Maybe hiring the whole place was too much, after all.
“It’d be fun to see how many kids we can make cry,” she adds with a wink.
That forces another laugh out of me, especially since I can’t really tell if she’s joking or not. My cheeks ache from smiling so damn big and I can’t remember having this much fun in a long time.
“I’ve had a really great time,” Sin says softly, looking up at me. We’ve somehow drifted closer until the tips of our shoes are touching.
I tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear, allowing my fingers to trail down the soft skin of her neck, enjoying her responding shiver. I haven’t worn my cuff tonight, and instead I’ve been basking in Sin’s excitement and joy.
“I don’t think I can remember having a better time,” I tell her. It’s not a line, either. I mean it one hundred percent.
“You might need to get out more,” she teases and I feel the humor behind her words and the affection, too.
She looks so damn beautiful like this, her cheeks glowing and her eyes bright. I can’t stop myself from leaning in to kiss her. Our lips press together softly at first and I can taste sweetness and Sin’s unique almost fruity scent. Her lips part as she grips my shirt, pulling me closer and tangling her tongue with mine.
Our emotions surge together and wash over me in a wave of lust. My dick hardens in my pants and I have to pull back or I’ll give in to the urge to strip off her clothes and bury my face between her legs on the nearest flat surface.
“Fuck. I need to know if the rest of you tastes as good as your lips do.” I pull back, staring down into her eyes which have glazed over with desire. “You want to get out of here?”
She nods, letting out a shaky exhale. “Yeah. I really do.” She glances at my mouth and sucks in a sharp breath. “Fuck me, Micah, how long is your tongue?”
I’m hesitant as I let it out, tasting the arousal in the air and feeling my dick harden even more. It’s not something I’d usually show anyone, since it’s a little too snake-like for most people and they tend to freak the fuck out.
But Sin isn’t just anyone. Her eyes grow hazy and she licks her own lips. “Holy shit, that’s hot.”
I press my mouth to hers again, this time the kiss is hard and demanding. I let my tongue flicker out and trace her lips. “There are a lot of things I want to do to you with my tongue, Sin. We better get out of here before I get us banned.”
She shivers in my arms, and a surge of need and excitement goes through me.
We stumble toward the car, still kissing and fumbling at each other, like neither of us can get enough of touching the other’s body. My hands roam her back, her hips, the curve of her ass while her fingers smooth up and down my forearms and my biceps.
Sin pulls away, panting and staring up at me with heavy-lidded eyes. “Holy fuck, Micah, I feel kind of drunk on you right now.”
She’s not alone. Neither of us has had a drop of alcohol, but the scent of her hair and her skin and the feel of her emotions reflecting back at me are enough to make my head spin. I press her up against the side of the car with my hips, taking her mouth in another kiss that has Sin moaning into my mouth.
“We need to go,” I murmur against her lips, pressing my hard cock against her hot center.
Fuck. Me.
It’s going to be a long drive back, made even longer by the fact my dick is so hard it’s throbbing painfully.
We pile into the car and I slip on my cuff so I’m not too distracted on the drive home. After all, I have precious cargo onboard.
That leaves me with just my own lust to contend with. I focus on counting streetlights to distract myself from my tight pants and the taste of Sin’s arousal.
We’re not quite halfway home when she unbuttons her pants and slips her hand inside her underwear and I just about come in my pants.
“Sin,” I growl, sounding more like Cal than myself. “What are you doing?”
“You got me so damn hot and bothered, I can’t help myself. I’m so wet right now, Micah.”
Oh. My. Fuck.
“Who would have thought old arcade games would turn you on?” I rasp, my eyes darting from the road to Sin’s face as her head tips back against the chair. Her lips are parted and I palm my dick.
“It wasn’t the arcade,” she murmurs back, one hand cupping her breast as she circles her clit with the other. “It’s you. You’re hot as hell, Micah. And this evening was so thoughtful. So perfect.”
Her breathing speeds up and I let out a growl, pulling over on the deserted road and removing my cuff once again.
“Are you gonna come for me, sweetheart? Get yourself nice and ready for me so that I can tongue fuck you nice and deep?”
She lets out a little mewl as her hand works faster .
“Now. Sin.” As though my words have power, she lets out another helpless moan and I feel a blast of pure euphoria.
Holy shit, watching her come is like nothing else. My entire body lights up and my skin is tingling. It feels incredible.
If this is what an orgasm feels like to Sin, I’m gonna give her as many as possible.
“Good girl,” I growl and she curses under her breath.
I lick my lips, hands trembling with the urge to touch her. “Are you going to give me a taste? I need something to hold me off for the next ten minutes.”
She leans closer and presents me with her dripping fingers. I suck them greedily into my mouth and lap my tongue over them, drawing her taste into my mouth with a little groan.
The next ten minutes pass in a heady blur. I block everything out and focus all my attention on getting us back to the cabin. I park haphazardly and am out the door, scooping Sin into my arms and carrying her inside before she can blink.
Inside, it’s quiet and the living room is lit by a single lamp. I halt in the doorway, spotting the tense Orc sitting in the living room. He’s mostly hidden by the dark, sitting forward with his fists bunched.
“You good?” I can feel his fading worry and his frustration.
He gets to his feet with a grunt. “Just wanted to make sure you got back all right. I, uh, goodnight.” Spinning on his heel, he heads out of the room.
“Goodnight,” Sin calls after him before turning to me. “Do you think he’s okay?”
I nod. “Sure, sweetheart. He’s a worrier, is all. But we agreed tonight was just for you and me.” I adjust her in my arms and stride through the house, up the stairs with Sin still clutched against my chest like I’m afraid someone’s going to try to take her from me .
Then, flinging the door to my bedroom open, I kick it closed behind us and toss Sin onto the bed.
“Now strip, sweetheart.”
