His Need
Her scent was driving him crazy, and he didn't know how he had been around her for so long without simply taking her. He'd known from the moment he saw her that she was his. There was no way he was going to stop now, and there was nothing that would prevent this. Grant knew that she had to feel the same way because she hadn't stopped him when he kissed her. There was nothing that was going to stop him now. There was passion between them like nothing he had ever felt before, and he knew that she felt it, too.
At least there was still a little bit of sense left in him, and he picked her up and carried her upstairs, locking the door to the office as he walked by. This thing between them had simmered for far too long, and now it was a raging fire. All she had to do was say no, and it would be over with, but she seemed as stunned by what was between them as he was. If nothing happened to stop it, they would be together, at least physically. His wolf howled. He wanted nothing more than he wanted forever.
Grant laid her gently on the bed, stepped back, and began undressing. Her eyes held heat as she watched him, but she wasn't taking anything off herself. That was all right because he liked unwrapping his presents. He stripped completely in a matter of seconds, and now, he would begin on her. His hands went to her shirt, and his mouth joined with hers. This was crazy, but he couldn't stop now. Stepping back, he quickly stripped her and moved forward, positioning himself on top of her. This was really going to happen. He had stayed away from her so long that he thought he would go a little bit crazy.
His mouth worked its way down her body a little at a time, kissing her neck and working down to her breasts. He sucked one nipple in his mouth and made it hard before moving to the other one. She moaned, and he could tell she was enjoying it. Working his way down her body, he kissed and licked all the way down until he was between her legs. There, he breathed deeply and enjoyed the smell of her need. It reassured him that she still wanted him regardless of anything he did to make her feel the contrary.
His tongue sank deep into her channel, and she lifted her body up toward him, and her hands sank into his hair. Grant chuckled because she didn't want him to move, and he didn't want to move either. He replaced his tongue with a finger, then moved to her little nub and began to worry about it. Another finger joined the two, and he stretched and prepared her for what was coming. His tongue sped up, and he could feel the tension in her body as she prepared to explode.
Jenna went wild, and he slid up her body and slammed his cock inside her. This was the best way to make sure she was ready to take a large cock like his. Grant felt like he had come home, and nothing had ever felt so wonderful to him. He hesitated a moment, not wanting to cause her any pain, but she didn't want him to wait. She wrapped her legs around him and pushed her body upward and his down. He got the message and started pounding into her how he wanted to.
Pounding, pounding, and more pounding! He pushed them both toward their orgasm as he realized that the pounding that he was hearing was going on downstairs at the office door. They both reached their bliss but immediately had to prepare to go downstairs. He hoped whoever it was had a good reason, or he might just kill them. Grant dressed, but he knew if they were wolves, they would smell what was happening.
Jenna dressed in a second, and if he didn't know better, he would say she had spilled her clothing on. He felt a fresh wave of air roll over him, and her scent was no longer there. “Are you a witch?” He asked. He tried not to look like that, which terrified him, but his wolf had gone into hiding.
They both hurried downstairs, and she had never answered him. Maybe she was just using one of Harry's toys? That was possible, wasn't it? As he arrived at the door, the person pounding on the door was unfamiliar to him.
“Can I help you?” He was the guy standing there that he had never seen.
“I thought the secretary was a girl and was here alone.”
That immediately set off an alarm in his head. “She's only alone here sometimes. What did you need? I'm sure I can help you.”
“I'll just wait till the secretary's here.” The guy hurried away.
“What the hell was that all about?” Jenna asked.
“I think he was going to attack you because he thought you would be alone. Now he thinks others are here sometimes, so he'll be more cautious, but I'm sure he'll be back. I’ll just get back to my job, so I don't get in trouble.”
He headed out the door even though she gave him an accusing look. Grant had some things to think about, like whether Jenna was a witch. The ironic taste of blood was in his mouth, and he was afraid it wouldn't matter now. He'd mated her, and now they were stuck together for all time, witch or not. She wouldn't be happy with him, and he wasn't off to a good start in this meeting. Moving his hand to his own neck, he saw that she had bitten him, too. That was unusual for a human, but maybe she wasn't entirely human after all.
Grant had left quickly and was headed to his next job. He wasn't stupid. He knew he had just made a mess of their relationship. It was probably unlikely that she would forgive him again, and if she did, it wouldn't be easy. Maybe he would use the fact that they were mated, and she couldn't escape him to push for a relationship. Goddess! He was such a fool, and witches weren't that bad. It wasn't like he didn't spend time with Harry. She'd saved his life more than once. It was possible that Jenna might save his life down the road.
This was one of those secrets that he'd not expected. It made him wonder if there were more secrets and if he would find out all of them soon. There were also his secrets, which he had not revealed yet. Grant knew he was bad and hard to get along with. The job site was just ahead, and he pulled the truck up just out of sight of the house. He walked the rest of the way and knocked on the door, waiting for someone to answer. The lady of the house was middle-aged and very talkative. It was good that this was not one of those bad jobs, and everything went well. When he was done, he headed to the next job, which would be his last one.
Maybe no one would know what had occurred or that he had returned to the office for lunch. Would the other wolves scent the mating, or would Jenna cover up the scent? He would imagine she would cover it up because she wouldn't want anyone to know they had mated. It was hard to blame her because she wasn't very happy with him. While he did this last job, he thought about everything that had happened and how he felt about it. His mate, she was his, and he needed to decide how he was going to finish the claim. There was no way he could leave her on her own, and he knew it.
Since he had made a terrible mess of things, would she fight him and try to escape him? It was hard to say, but he needed a plan because he knew he would go crazy without her. It wouldn't be long before their time here would be up, and he knew she intended to leave. Grant couldn’t let her leave without him. He wasn't sure where she intended to go or if she had any family that she planned to go to. Jenna never talked about it, and he never asked. Grant picked up his speed and made up part of his time. It was doubtful he would be the first one back to the office, but he doubted he'd be the last one.
Now that he was done, he headed out and drove a little faster than usual. He was careful to watch everything so that he would not get into trouble and was making good time. He pulled into the parking lot and saw that Sally and her partner were already there. Grant was sure that they would be thrilled that they had beat him to the office today. If only they knew that he'd had delays and still had gotten there not long after they did. Parking the truck, he headed into the office and was the second one to make it.
Sally was grinning like a fool because she had beaten him there. He let her enjoy it and wouldn't worry about it. It wasn't like he had plenty to worry about for himself. Grant had expected questions, but he was also sure the look on his face prevented them from asking any. Just let them enjoy meeting him back to the office even though there were two of them and only one of him. It was bound to happen eventually, and finally, it did. Grant had been distracted, and it had interfered with his job. He had still gotten his work done, and he always would.
Other matters were more pressing, and he wasn't sure what to do about Jenna. She was angry at him, and that was obvious by the look on her face. He cursed himself a dozen times over as a fool. He could have handled it better in so many other ways, but he'd taken the worst possible way. Now, he would have to work his way back into her good graces, and he knew that wouldn't be easy. He handed in his list with all the jobs marked complete.
“Good to see you got them all done.” Jenna's voice was cold as ice.
“I knew you would be pleased.”
He was at a loss for words, so he turned away. Pulling out some money, he laid it on the counter and then went and got his meal. Sitting at the table and eating might give him some time to figure out what to do next. The other teams began to arrive, and he noticed that Sally went and spoke to them each as they came in. She should enjoy it while she can because tomorrow will be different. It wasn't long after everyone arrived that Harry showed up.
What in the world was Harry here for? She motioned for him and Jenna to join her in the other room. “I see that you two are mated. Congratulations. Any reason that you're hiding it?” Harry wondered.
“It was a mistake," Jenna observed immediately.
“It wasn't a mistake. I didn't realize she was a witch, and my wolf panicked. I had to go out and finish my list anyway, so I thought we would discuss it when I got back. I don't blame her for being upset at me, but we’re mated, and she will have to get over it," Grant threw in.
“That sounds like what every woman wants to hear. Just get over it.” Jenna imagined.
“I didn't mean it that way," Grant explained.
“I can't imagine a good way that you could have meant it," Jenna observed.
“Okay. I can see I'm not needed here. You two need to work things out, and Tyne and Moe will be coming in a week. See you later, Gator.” Harry was gone, and now it was just the two of them.
Jenna stomped off, leaving him alone to think about how he could make things up to her. He had been so bad for so long, and he was sure she had thought he'd be better, but then he had just been bad again. How could you get somebody to get over that?
“Girl trouble?” Sally asked.
“What are you doing in here?” Grant asked.
“Jenna opened the door, and we are allowed in here if a closed-door meeting isn't happening.”
Grant thought about her question. Maybe Sally would know what he should do because he had never been in this position before. He was an alpha wolf and never had trouble attracting a female. His only troubles had ever been losing them when he was done.
“You could say I'm having some woman trouble. I've never had to deal with it, but she's different," Grant admitted.
“Most of you guys are like that. You've never had to work at anything in your life. It all comes naturally. Try a little romance that will show her that you care. Some flowers, wine, and a box of chocolate are things that show a woman you care. I'd say a meal, but you're going to have a hard time finding one that she didn't make," Sally said then she left them alone to think over the possibilities. Those things wouldn't be easy to get in an isolated place like this. His best chance? Harry. He said her name three times out loud, and she popped back in, looking confused.
“What did you need?” She asked.
“I hoped you would help me with my problem. Sally suggested flowers, chocolate, and wine. She also said a nice meal might set the stage. That made me think of you because you can bring me everything. Will you help me?” Grant asked.
“The first thing I need is fed, so I have the energy to get the stuff. While I'm eating, you need to write down exactly what you want so you can figure out what it'll cost. Give me enough money to buy it and a snack so I can return here in time. When I get back, I'll need to eat again because traveling this way takes a lot of energy," Harry explained.
“I can do that. I'll go get some more food, but I'll stay in here because I don't want Jenna to know you're here," Grant directed.
“I can do that.”
He went into the office where Jenna was behind the counter. She was working on the books, probably trying to make up for the time she lost when they'd been together upstairs. Some of the others had bought food and were sitting at the table eating. He threw some money on the counter and filled a large container with food. Jenna didn't ask him any questions, but she gave him a look and raised her eyebrow at him. That was no surprise since he'd already eaten, and she was probably wondering why he was eating again.
It was good that she didn't ask because he didn't want to lie and didn't want to give her the truth either. Grant returned the food to Harry, and she ate it faster than he could have. Magic must suck an enormous amount of energy out of her. As fearful as his wolf was of that magic, his human side envied it. He could imagine the amazing things he could do and the protection he could give himself to those he cared about.
Harry had just finished eating when she disappeared. She'd forgotten to ask him for money, so he could only imagine that she was going to present him with a bill. Five minutes later, she reappeared with roses, a to-go box from a restaurant, wine with wine glasses, and a huge box of chocolate. Everything that he had asked for was there.
“What do I owe you?” Grant asked.
“Nothing. Moe and Tyne paid as a mating gift. All I need now is some food to energize my trip home.” Harry explained.
Grant nodded and went to the office. He put some more money on the counter and filled another container with food. It was just too much for Jenna, and he could see she was going to ask.
“How can you eat that much food?” She wondered.
“Come with me, and I'll show you.”
He knew that she would be upset if Harry came to visit, and she didn't get to see her. Leading the way, he took her back to the storage room where Harry was waiting.
“I'm glad I get a chance to see you before I leave," Harry admitted.
“I'm glad to see you, too, but what are you doing here?” Jenna asked.
“I came bearing gifts.” She stepped forward so Jenna could see the table with everything on it. “Grant asked that I bring him these things, but Tyne and Moe wanted to pay for them as a mating gift. This is some good stuff. The food you fixed is good, too," Harry said around a mouthful. She was getting good at talking that way and being understood.
“All this is for me?” Jenna looked at Grant in surprise.
“I was hoping you'd share the meal with me, but yes, everything is for you.” Grant agreed.
“Don't forget about me!” Harry said. “Get me some food, and I'll be ready to go.”
Grant hurried into the office to get a tray and fill it with food for Harry. When he returned to the storage room, he handed Harry the tray.
“Thank you. I'll just go to the other room, eat, and give you two some peace," Harry observed with a wink, and she was gone.
“I set our food up on a crate. I hope this will work for you?” Jenna asked.
“It looks good," Grant replied as he looked at the cloth-covered crate with two plates, two wine glasses half-filled with wine, and a box of chocolates sitting open on the corner. The flowers were in the middle between the two plates. “You look good," Grant said.
“This was a very nice surprise," Jenna mentioned.
“We needed to celebrate our mating, and I wanted to do something you would enjoy. I'm not so sure why Tyne and Moe seem so interested in it," Grant offered.
“They do tend to worry about all of their people. This does seem a little bit over the top.” Jenna observed.
“Any idea what they plan?” Grant asked.
“No. I know many of the people who work for them have been going to Washington and Oregon. I am from that area. Where are you from?” Jenna asked.
“I am from the middle of Oregon," Grant admitted.
“That's where I am from as well. My mother was the alpha George’s girlfriend," Jenna explained.
“You're his daughter?” Grant asked.
“No. He started seeing my mother after I was born. He didn't like children, and he kept threatening to kill me, so my mother had my grandmother come get me. There is no doubt in my mind that he killed her.” Jenna declared. “Had I stayed, he would have killed me too. He has a reputation for violence, and yet the council never did a thing about it.”
“I hate to admit it, but he is my father. My mother wasn't full-blooded, so it hurt his pride to have a son that wasn't full-blooded either. He planned to kill me, so my mother called my grandmother, and she came and got me. It wasn't long after that, and my mother was dead. We can't prove it, but we both know that's what happened.” Grant explained.
“I'm beginning to suspect what's going on here.” Jenna offered.
“You don't believe they're going after George, do you?” Grant asked.
“If I'm right, you're the one that will be going after George. They need someone who has a claim, and both of us do. Damon has been trying to clean up that corner of the country, and Tyne has been helping him. I think they were waiting for us to mate before they dropped it on us," Jenna explained.
“That makes sense, but they can't make us do it. We have to be willing to.” Grant declared.
“Are you telling me that you wouldn't go for him if you were given an opportunity like this?” Jenna said with a disbelieving look.
“I am no pack alpha. I've had no training and don't know anyone in that pack. How do you feel about becoming a pack bitch?”
“I have not been trained either. The fight is easy, I'm sure you would win because they would prevent cheating, and I've heard George can't fight. He never bothered to train. It's what comes after you when that's scary.”
“That's exactly right. I'm not even sure I could run a pack," Grant admitted.
“Ariel always says one step at a time. I don't want to be a pack bitch, but I don't want that guy to go on living either. He took both of our mothers away for no good reason. It was just because he is violent and takes it out on whoever is closest.”
“You are right. At least we've discussed this and will know what to say if Tyne brings it up. This is some good food Harry brought us.”
“Harry knows food. She can always find the best food anywhere. Unfortunately, there is not much food available around here.” Jenna admitted.
“Not true. She always comes here so you can feed her.” Grant chuckled.
There was no denying it. Jenna was a great cook, and Harry was a great eater.
Jenna blushed. That was probably the first compliment he had ever given her. “Thank you.”
He would make sure it wasn't the last. She seemed so happy that he had said something nice that it made him wish he had said more nice things to her.
“The food is all gone, and so is the wine. You should save your chocolate for later, and we really should get some sleep now," Grant suggested.
Jenna just nodded and began to clean everything up. He was sure she would stay up a little while because he didn't think she had time to refill her crock pots. There was still something she wasn't telling him, although the largest secret was probably her mother being killed by George. She now knew his secrets, all of the important ones. Maybe she would tell him the rest when they had time to talk a little more.
He helped her clean up, but she was on her own when she got to the cooking part. Grant went ahead and showered and got ready for bed. Since they were together now, they would probably end up sharing a room as someone else would get his room, just not now. They didn't need the extra rooms now because they had the four rooms that had been built and the new storage room. That left the small older storage room available for whatever use they needed. Grant regretted that he'd never had the opportunity to talk to that guy that had bothered Jenna. It didn't matter anymore because they were all gone.
