JAMIE

The press of a hard cock against the crease of my ass pulled me from sleep. Sleeping in King’s arms was quickly becoming my favorite. I pushed back slightly, wanting more connection. My body protested slightly, still sore from last night. The way he let me lead and at times took power for himself felt perfect. Many men saw being the top as the one who had to lead, but I loved topping from the bottom.

Another thing I would love would be to get my first taste of King Walker. Pushing the covers down to King’s knees, I slid lower until I was eye to eye with his already hard dick. There was nothing better than a wake-up call that included a warm mouth.

I licked up the underside of his cock. Smooth and velvety. I ran my tongue around the tip, thoroughly enjoying the way he tasted. King began moving. A soft moan left his lips. But it wasn’t until I wrapped my lips around him and took him farther into my mouth that his eyes opened.

“Holy fuck,” he groaned.

I kept going until my lips hit his groin. He ran his hand over my head, flexing his fingers in my hair. It only encouraged me to keep going. Pulling my lips to the top, swirling my tongue over the head before going back down again.

“Jamie… So good.”

I took him down to the root again, swallowing his cock. King started to thrust, and I let him take his fill. His grip tightened in my hair as he used my mouth for his pleasure. My own dick was hard as steel.

“I can’t…” King panted, never stopping his movements.

I knew the feeling. Giving head usually meant I didn’t need to touch my dick to come. Something about a man having control over me for that moment. The taste of the precum as it coated my tongue. It quickly became too much. The sounds coming from King grew louder and I knew he had to be close. I moved my hand to his ass and slid my finger down his crack until I found that tight little pucker.

A shout left King as I pressed against those tight little bundles of nerves. Not a second later, King came down my throat, holding me close. I swallowed every drop.

My fingers wrapped around my cock. Two pulls later and I was coming hard. The vibrations from my muffled groan caused King to make even more noise. Finally, he pulled free.

I gave him a smirk and he practically pounced on me, taking my lips with his. Our tongues tangled. When he pulled back, he ran his thumb across my bottom lip.

“That was a hell of a way to say good morning.” King glanced down. “Let’s shower then I’ll cook us breakfast.”

“I like the sound of that.”

King stood and held his hand out. I took it and let him help me from the bed. With his age, I had no doubt he’d be ready to go again. Thankfully, being with someone as sexy as King had my dick waking up again pretty quickly.

After more fun in the shower, I dressed in the same clothes from the night before. I followed King out to their kitchen. He offered me something new to wear, but even as I hoped I’d see him again, I couldn’t be sure that would be the case.

He reached into the fridge and pulled out a carton of eggs and bacon, immediately beginning his work on breakfast. I was a decent cook myself, but watching King move around the kitchen told me he was much more adept than me.

“Morning.”

I turned from the stool I sat on at the counter to see Hayes walking into the room in only a pair of shorts, looking tired and sexy. Muscles everywhere. While my interest in more than a night of fucking was solely focused on King, I couldn’t deny his roommate was beautiful.

King glanced over his shoulder. “You remember Jamie.”

Hayes glanced over at me and quickly darted his eyes away with a nod.

Before I could think more of it, King walked over with two steaming mugs of coffee. One he placed in front of Hayes, already light in color. In front of me, he added a sugar bowl and creamer. That connection he had with Hayes, knowing someone well enough to be able to have their coffee exactly the way they liked it, I wanted that with King.

And wasn’t that a revelation.

“Thanks,” Hayes mumbled, lifting the cup to his lips.

“Late night?” King asked, pouring the eggs into a hot pan.

Hayes rubbed a hand over his face. “You know the drive from Dev’s isn’t short. It was late when I left.”

King chuckled. “The drive isn’t bad during the day, but at night when you just want to get home, it’s no fun.” King brought his attention back to the pan in front of him.

A weird kind of tension filled the room until Hayes picked up his mug and wandered into the other room.

King came over and stole a kiss. “He’s also giving us some space. I loved the greeting you gave me earlier.”

I reached around his waist to cup his ass. “It really was a great way to wake up this morning.”

“The second-best thing will be my omelets.” He kissed me again and went back to the stove. “Favorite ice cream?”

“Mint chocolate chip. You?”

“Same.” He grinned.

Instantly, we fell back into the random questions from last night. We kept going back and forth until King brought three plates into the dining room.

“Breakfast is ready,” he called out and gestured for me to follow.

Hayes took the seat across from King. We ate in silence. Every once in a while, I found King glancing over at me and myself doing the same to him. The food was amazing. He really was a much better cook than I was. When breakfast was done, Hayes cleared the plates away and left the room.

I took King’s hand and squeezed it. “I should get going.” As much as I didn’t want to, I knew at some point our date, and that’s really what it was, a date, had to end. Then, I could look forward to next time.

“Do you have plans for the rest of the weekend?” Maybe next time would be sooner than I thought.

I stood and King did the same. “No. Did you have something in mind?”

“I might. I’ll text you later today.”

“I look forward to it.”

I pulled my phone from my pocket and ordered a car as I walked to the door of King’s condo.

“I’ll ride down with you.”

We walked down the hall together, our shoulders practically touching with how close we were. He pushed the button then turned to me, taking my lips in a molten kiss that made me crave more. When the chime of the elevator arriving sounded, we broke the connection.

Then the elevator door opened revealing none other than Marcus and Kasper Warnes-Wilder.

“Jamie, how are you?” Marcus asked before I had a chance to pull King down the hall away from the men in the elevator.

Fucking Hell.

This was the last thing I needed today. The morning had started off so well. I wasn’t ready to tell King who I was. I’d avoided the question last night so easily, it gave me the false hope that I had more time before I had to explain. Looked like time ran out.

I felt King’s eyes on me, but this wasn’t something I wanted to explain with an audience. If the connection King and I shared was as strong as I thought it was, he’d sense it. Only two nights together and he was one of the few people I could read easily. He seemed to be able to do it last night when he changed the subject from family almost immediately. Too bad family came right back to bite me in the ass.

With my head held high, I stepped into the elevator. “Marcus, Kasper, how are you?”

“Good,” Marcus replied. “I was wondering why I didn’t see you in Tim’s box last night after the game.” He glanced over at King. “Guess, I know why.”

It was subtle, but I felt King stiffen next to me. Kasper gave him a curious glance but didn’t say anything. Marcus, however, seemed oblivious to the bomb he just unwittingly set off in the middle of the elevator.

“Yep. I had plans.” I winked at Marcus, trying to keep a calm facade, even as my heart raced inside my chest. It beat so fast, I worried everyone in the car with us would be able to hear it. “I have no doubt that you guys took home the win.”

Marcus snuggled into Kasper’s side. “We did. It’s always great to play when Kasper comes to the stadium.”

It didn’t go unnoticed that King hadn’t said a word and Kasper’s eyes never left him. The elevator doors opened, and I was quick to usher King out into the lobby. “Maybe I’ll see you at the next game.” I lifted my hand in a wave while continuing to guide King away from the two men.

When we stepped out into the warm air, King grabbed my hand, stopping me. He glanced around, then turned me toward him.

“How do you know Tim Deary?” King cut right to the chase.

I sighed and closed my eyes for a moment before looking King directly in the eye. “Tim’s my brother.”

“You’re Jamie Deary?”

“I am.” I tightened my fingers around his as the Uber I ordered pulled up to the curb. “I’m used to keeping that part of my life in the shadows.” When King didn’t say anything more, I knew he needed time. I lifted my hand and brushed my fingers over his cheek. “I hope I hear from you again.”

I opened the door and climbed into the back seat of the car. “Fuck,” I muttered under my breath as the car pulled away from the curb.

The entire ride, I replayed King’s expression over in my head. The shock. The uncertainty. What the fuck? The first time I care about what another guy thinks, and I fucking tossed it away. Maybe it was for the best. I had more than a decade on King. He was bright and full of life, and here I was mid-life and cynical as hell.

Then, I thought about Marcus and Kasper. The age difference between them was similar to myself and King, and they made it work enough to walk down the aisle together. Would that ever be in the cards for me? Not likely if things kept going the way they were.

The driver stopped in front of my building. Without a word to anyone, I went right to the elevator, sliding my key in to take it to my floor.

My chest ached on the way up. King had been the first man in my life who I’d connected with instantly. There was something so easygoing about King that allowed me to put all the bullshit in my life on the back burner.

The moment I stepped out of the elevator; Molly began turning on the lights. “Molly, day mode.”

The window tint lightened, letting the sun brighten the room. I went right for my bedroom. A fantastic morning had turned into a shit day. And that required a drink and time in the pool with video games later. It looked like I no longer had any plans tonight. Sitting around waiting for my phone to light up when it most likely wouldn’t wasn’t the way I planned to spend my day.

I showered and put on a pair of board shorts. Leaving my phone on the dresser, I went downstairs and right out to the roof deck. The bar was stocked with my favorites, kept cool but not cold. After pouring a glass of vodka and ice, I grabbed a towel from the small outdoor closet and tossed it on the chair.

The water was perfect when I dipped my toes in. Settled on one of the benches, I took a sip of my drink and leaned my head back against the edge. There had to be a way to make King see that being Tim’s brother didn’t have to mean anything. He was a professional athlete. The media followed him around all the time.

But I knew that wasn’t the actual issue. King realized he had no idea who he’d been in bed with.

“A bit early for vodka, isn’t it?”

I groaned at the sound of my brother’s voice. Why had I given him the key to my place? I opened my eyes and looked over at Tim as he walked across the deck toward the pool. Dressed in navy khakis and a polo shirt, he grabbed a bottle of water from the bar and took a seat on one of the loungers.

“Not when your day goes to shit.”

Tim lifted a brow. “Trouble with King already?”

“Jesus fuck, you guys are gossips.” I lifted the glass to my lips.

“Not exactly. I called Kasper about some moves I thought we should make on the Sandpipers before preseason, and he mentioned he saw you leaving his building with King Walker.”

“Yeah, well I don’t think you’ll have to worry about that anymore.”

Tim twisted the top off his bottle. “Who said I was worried about it?”

“If you’re not worried about me being with King, then why are you here?”

“I wanted to know what was going on between you two. You never stay the night with a guy, which means there’s something different about him, and I think it could be a good thing.”

I laughed humorlessly. “Trying to direct my life again?”

Tim sighed. “No. Why do you mistake me caring about you as me trying to direct your life?”

“Because it’s what you and Dad do.”

“No, Jamie, that’s not what I do. I hate seeing you throw away everything you can do to spite Dad.”

“Well, since I couldn’t live up to my big brother, I might as well be a complete fuckup.” I raised my glass to him and took another drink.

“Jesus, Jamie. Is that what you really think?” Tim closed his eyes and opened them again. “I didn’t come here to fight with you.”

“Then why did you?” I couldn’t help but be suspicious. Every time I saw my brother as of late, all we did was fight. Maybe my own bitterness got in the way. Tim didn’t help either when he pushed and pushed and pushed.

“God forbid I come here to tell you I was excited you were starting to see someone seriously.”

“Too bad it didn’t last.”

“What happened?”

I finished my drink and climbed from the pool to grab another. With glass in hand, I wrapped a towel around my waist and sat down on the lounger next to Tim. “He found out I was your brother.”

Tim narrowed his eyes. “King’s in the media more than I am, so I’m going to guess you weren’t honest with him from the beginning.”

“You know I don’t use my ties to you for anything. If I’m in a man’s bed then I want him to be there because of me, not because my brother has millions.”

Tim chuckled. “And I’d be willing to bet with your investments, you have as much as I do, if not more.”

That I had to laugh at. “Then you’d be right.”

“Talk to him. I’ve never known you to see a man more than once, so if you’re staying over and making plans for future dates, I’d say that’s worth exploring.”

This was the brother I knew and wanted to see more often. The one I could confide in and talk my problems out with. The one I grew up with until everything with my plans went to shit.

“It is. I know I fucked up by not telling him the second time we went out. I’ll give him time to decide if he wants to keep exploring this with me.”

“You’re worth it. It’s time to let someone else in. Maybe you can finally find someone to share this beautiful place with.”

Tim was right. I’d let King come to me and when he did, I’d be honest about who I was. Well, mostly. Things would have to become really serious before I brought someone into my world, and we weren’t there yet.

“I know you think it’s early, but pool time and a beer?” When my brother was like this, I wanted to spend time with him.

“I’m in. Vanessa took Moria shopping in New York for the weekend.”

“Ah, so that explains it. Nothing else to do when your wife and daughter aren’t home.”

Tim threw the cap of the bottle at me.

“I’ll get you a pair of swim shorts, you can get your own beer.”

I stepped into the cool air of the house and went up the stairs. I ignored my phone and grabbed shorts for Tim. Hopefully, spending the day with him would help me not think about what might happen with King.
