Jessica
Jessica awoke and found herself lying in Paul’s arms. She quickly separated herself from him as he moaned, still asleep. What was she doing? She got out of bed and stretched, then rubbed her shoulders, trying to erase the feeling of being so near to him. It wasn’t easy. She still couldn’t believe what had happened. Fake dating with a near tornado thrown in the mix. What a birthday party it had been.
After breakfast with the Buchanans, Paul and Jessica drove home, past the tornado damage. The tree blocking the road had been moved, but they were astounded by the blown-off roofs and downed branches. A car was completely overturned. They’d been so lucky. An uncomfortable silence hung between them until Paul dropped Jessica at her house. What was he thinking? All she knew was that she wanted to get home, shower, change and do some work. Fake dating and all that fake smiling and not sleeping well in a strange house had worn her out.
